Just off the House floor today, the Crypt overheard House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers tell two other people: "We're closing in on Rove. Someone's got to kick his ass."

Asked a few minutes later for a more official explanation, Conyers told us that Rove has a week to appear before his committee. If he doesn't, said Conyers, "We'll do what any self-respecting committee would do. We'd hold him in contempt. Either that or go and have him arrested."

OK JOHN & Huffpo, this PIVOTAL story is now 6 days old and there has been one comment in 24 hours...............It is time to either put it back into the Headlines, or just bury it as I suspect Congress has done.

Conyers talks some of the best game on Capitol Hill.

all hat, no cattle.

I believe the correct headline should be - "Someone's go to kick his fat a** " !

Conyers is always talking about what he says he is about to do, but never seems to go about doing anything about anything.... all bark, no bite, big talk, little or no action... he is very, very tiresome and becomes ever more unbelievable...

agreed, Conyers: I love what you say, now please just shut up and do it!

Impeach!

McCain Defends 'Enron Loophole'
By Jason Leopold
The Public Record

May 19, 2008

Sen. John McCain says he opposes the $307 billion farm bill because it would dole out wasteful subsidies, but his chief economic adviser Phil Gramm also wants to stop its proposed regulation of energy futures trading, a market that was famously abused when Enron Corp. manipulated California"s electricity prices in 2001.

Clearing the way for that California price gouging, Gramm, as a powerful Texas senator in 2000, slipped an Enron-backed provision into the Commodities Futures Modernization Act that exempted from regulation energy trading on electronic platforms.

Sure, Conyers, sure Congress will hold the Pillsbury dough boy in contempt. Just like Congress was going to bring the troops home ... stop funding Monkey Boy's failure in Iraq ... I'll believe it when I see the Pillsbury dough boy being escorted in handcuffs by U.S. marshalls.

Conyers is a complete embarrassemnt. Remember the hearings he held on his own in the basement of Congress...with no authority in order to try to nab Rove in the Wilson-Plame non-scandal scandal?

What a clown.

Unless Rove is lying again, he isn't elligible for the protections of the white house. He is a civil servant. This means, yes, he can be tried as a citizen, forced to stand trial as a hostile witness. Bush can't pardon him, without indighting himself. Its simple math. The man is a crimminal, the worst kind who hides behind loopholes to prevent prosecution. There are only so many loopholes he can use. At some point the noose tightens and he either sings like a cannary or goes to jail. That is how conyers must play this.

Never seen so many trolls in such high agitation.

Most people want those who have violated the law and Constitution held accountable. This includes most Republicans. Congress member Conyers, with his great respect for due process, is a good man for the American people to have on their side. I would not give much credence to those who attack his integrity and courage.

I, for one, aam tired of talk. Do it! Now!!
When we start putting such creeps in jail, the world will smell a bit cleaner.

It"s simple. If he doesn"t obey the law he should be arrested like anyone else would be.

Last checked, ignoring a subpoena is a crime.

Arrest him. NOW.

Come on Conyers get a spine. Do the right thing.

It is long past time to hold these lying, incompetent, corrupt war criminals accountable for their crimes.

Conyers is a bufoon. He is a disgrace to the seat he holds. Only he could perform so poorly and still be there.

Wining Republicans!! Aren't they proud of where their party took this nation over the last eight years? We are a nation of laws and when laws are broken, it is the responsibility of the people to find out who, how and why.

No one is better at the Big Lie than Rove. When he is under oath in front of Congress, he will no doubt commit perjury. Congress must pursue this investigation wherever it may lead.

Conyers is a blowhard. If he wants to get serious, he needs to hold Bush in contempt.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:01 PM on 05/18/2008

Rove is out of office and would be easier to drag his pork butt in front of Congress. I think Ford was the only President to testify in front of Congress. Bush could do as he always does and invoke his executive powers and drag it out.

As Dayahka said, if you get to Rove you get the the whole stinking criminal organization and it could lead to revealing a lot more including massive election fraud involving the U.S. Attorney firings.

Dayahka,

You are a blowhard. The way you get Bush is to put Rove on the stand, under oath, and ask questions about his boss. He squeals in order to walk - Bush takes the fall.

Conyers is a hero. You are a neophyte.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:50 PM on 05/18/2008

He takes the 5th and walks. Why don't you guys who are so anxious to have political trials read the constitution.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:43 AM on 05/19/2008

Congressmen and women are sworn to uphold and protect the constitution.

Bush and his minions have subverted the constitution and broken laws in several ways.

By lying us into a war. By firing attorneys for political reasons. By exposing a covert CIA agent during time of war. By using hundreds of signing statements. Codifying torture into law, and directing torture directly from the white house.

I could go on and on. The point is that there are plenty of crimes which could and should be pursued and prosecuted in order to "protect and defend" the constitution.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:05 PM on 05/19/2008

Grant him limited immunity.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:02 PM on 05/19/2008

You should take your own advice. The key element to WaspMan's comment was Rove squealing in order to walk. Provide him with immunity and he can't claim the 5th. Show him enough evidence against him and he agrees to the bargain.

So, go read the Constitution yourself and then go read up on some of the Supreme Court decisions which drastically altered the original intent of the founding fathers. Educate yourself before flying off with a baseless comment on how YOU interpret the Constitution rather than the reality of the right afforded to us.

All of that is in theory, of course. Conyers' committee has to have the evidence first.

Wake up people! Rove is behind every decision Dubya has made. He is definitely the mastermind behind Dubya's whole pathetic 8 year term.

BEWARE OF FAKE COMMENTERS: Intercepted E-Mail To Create Dem Division Being Secretly Circulated by GOPers

IMPORTANT
This information is not to be posted to any of our usual forums
and should be emailed only to people you know personally and
completely trust.

Here is the updated game plan.

Step one: Register a bunch of user accounts on lefty blogs.
*Create false identities equally divided between Obama and Clinton
supporters. Initially play it cool. Don't make more than two
accounts per blog one for each candidate. Too many accounts
from the same ip and you will be outed as a sock puppet. Dont
do anything drastic that would get you banned. Lurk for a while
at first so you can learn how they talk. Liberals are like a
different species. Dont
start an all out flame war right away begin with small insults.
The idea is to poison the tone of discussion but do it so slowly
that they dont realize where its coming from. You want the
liberal sheep to get caught up in it and start doing our work for
us.
Step three: As the Democ-rat nomination narrows in on a
candidate crank up the heat. The loser
ident should start calling for a voter boycott on the winner.
You may not be able to peal off voters to our side but
demotivating them so they stay home is almost as good.

I'm really worried.

When I see this traitor, Rove, in jail, I will make a contribution to the DEMS! Ever since that gutless whiner,Pelosi, took impeachment "off the table" I have held my cash in escrow for them! If the Rethugs can impeach Slick willie for lying under oath about a BJ-surely the Dems can find countless reasons to nail the BUSH/CHENEY dictatorship!!!

Rep Conyers On Rove: We'll "Hold Him In Contempt. Either That Or Go And Have Him Arrested"

is there a countdown clock we can watch or are conyer's words merely ...talk

also, is there a video camera trained on rove's house so when the troopers drop in it'll all be on tape

For a guy who already is held in contempt by a majority of the nation, of what use is it to include "contempt of Congress"? For Chrissakes arrest the SOB and have done with it!

Blah, blah, blah. More lies coming from Conyers. Please, Mr. Conyers, we are tired of being strung along only to see you consistently wimp out. Get off the pot, buddy, and do your duty to this country and impeach already! Otherwise, you are nothing but a big bag of hot air and starting to appear just as guilty as bush/cheney by refusing to take action. I had a lot of respect for you, man. But, not anymore. You, Pelosi, and the rest are all losers and I'd like to see everyone of you voted out of office.

Rove and the rest of the criminals could possibly be pardoned if they are indicted before bush leaves office.
