John McCain made two guest appearances during the season finale of "Saturday Night Live." In a bit during Weekend Update, Mccain advised the Democrats to keep the excitement going by not picking a candidate anytime soon.

Watch:

His other segment was a campaign ad making fun of how "very, very old" he is.

And speaking of campaign ads, SNL also did a split screen Hillary Clinton/Barack Obama ad called "There Can Only Be One"

Rachel Sklar has a full roundup on SNL's season finale, as well as more clips of the greatest skits:

At any rate this season may be gone but you won't have to wait as long for the next episode -- they'll be starting early in September so they can get as much election-mockery time in as possible. For now, content yourselves with this week's vids. Congrats on a great season, SNL! Let's see more of Casey Wilson next year.

We are doomed.

This appearance was all the evidence I need that John McCain is completely out of touch and unsuitable for the office of the President.

This country is at war - 4,078 dead 29,978 wounded. This is not the time to be funny! I have had two cousins serve in the Marines in Iraq and one is going back. As soon as I saw the newsclip about McCain trying to be funny, I wanted to throw up! I really do not need a funny president. I need a president that is going to focus on how to get us out of this nightmare. This is a criminal war started by a corrupt, criminal government. What's so funny about that?

Never in my life have a seen a sadder attempt of someone in an older generation trying to reach out to a younger generation and clearly not having a clue what could or would be considered funny.

and btw, since when has it become "en vogue" for presidential candidates to try their hand at stand-up? This is a very troubling scenario, because it shows how instead of having candidates that help us rise from our own muck and mire, these candidates just want to climb on into ours and prove they're just "one of the guys"

I dont want my president to be folksy, or plain spoken. I want him to be able to talk rings around me, so I can say, "oh yea, this guy/gal deserves to be the president". sadly, gwb has so lowered the bar, I think being able to wipe your own a.s is now seen as a viable prerequiste for becoming the leader of the free world.

America better wake up and realize that presidential candidates showing for votes and laughs on SNL, David Letterman and the like are really not worth having!

Jeb Bush as VP? Another Bush in office would be the nail in the coffin of the mcCain candidacy.

It looked like 'Grandpa McCain Visits the Kids on SNL'. It only pointed out how old and broken down he looks...the chasm between him and the audience was sooo vast. And only made even MORE evident how out of touch the Republican party and agenda really is.

In typical SNL fashion: not funny.

Why has SNL become the bellweather now- maybe because the MSM is so limp when it comes to addressing real issues.

He did great on the show, I thought it was hillarious. Kudos to you Senator McCain. When Obama Crushes you this fall, maybe you can go into Comedy as a second career :P

I kid, I KID! I love the GOP! I'll be here all week, try the veal!

true, even better when they do it to themselves.

Just because McCain remembers listening to speaches by Churchill when he was young, or Hitler when he was young, or Julius Ceasar when he was old dosn't make mcCain ancient. [not that Julius Ceasar]

I thought it was funny. It helps him 2 joke about his age like the great Ronald Reagan did. Of course, he has 2 do more than that 2 get votes. But I just thought he scored some points on SNL.

With that said, he better do some anti-Bush skits 2 seperate their "connection" or he'll surely lose. Bush will go down as 1 of the worst presidents in history. So he better create some space between him & Bush or Obama just might be our next president.

This is an independent comment. This is not a pro-McCain comment. Just my advice.

With McCain,is-it an age issue or is-it a classic act of say-do-anything just to get elected? You decide:

Let's face it, SNL endorsed Hillary ONLY because they wanted her to go against repubs. Now that she is no longer the frontrunner, the truth about them is really about to come out.

I'll accept Lyndon Johnson, but GWB and his whole famiy are Kennebunkport Maine carpet baggers. Georgie is afraid of horses. They just recently took the training wheel of his bike.

Ummmm, the 5th person to leave J.McCain's campaign staff ... 5th lobbyist ... so, McCain's givin' out advise! Somethin' about under the table payoffs ... Ohhh, Johnny Boy!

Can hardly wait for those debates me thinks McCain will need far more than rudimentary tutorials. His endearing embrace of G.Bush, his NO vote for the latest GI Bill to assure our vets decent educations, his very stupid upchuck of "appeasement," his oh, just his very aged approach to remain in the past!

Watch out boys and girls. Jeb Bush will be selected as McCain's running mate. There remains enough deluded voters, married to false Republican ideals, 30-40% continuing to support president Bush, that Jeb Bush will be a VERY viable selection in their eyes.

McCain wins election, because racism is too deeply embedded in our national psyche.

Then watch for McCain to meet his Maker on Air Force One in a terrorist attack. The smoking gun come home. Jeb Bush is sworn in as the 45th president.

I am so friggin' cynical anymore, even this worst-case scenario seems plausible.

McCain doesn't run the show. Haven't you figured that out yet about the GOP?

I am guessing he will go with his best buddy, Joe Lieberman.

Unity ticket, republican style.

All wrong, McCain will pick a Reagan conservative with an economic background...two fold. One, McCain needs someone that knows how to keep the economy strong and two, he needs someone that represents traditional conservative values which will contrast the Bush brand...

Most conservatives dislike bush for that very reason¦he is no conservative...

Ok, here's a functioning version of the video I tried to link to earlier. It's from several years ago when McCain hosted SNL.

BTW, I am not a fan of Al Gore, but I thought he was hilarious when he hosted SNL, twice (I think).

Your rant has no policy viewpoint what so ever, so I sincerely doubt you are a Democrat. If you are, tell me one policy issue where you believe McCain's position is superior to Obama's.

Beast 711 --- Maybe you should ask JOHN McCAIN why PASTOR PARSLEY, a man John McCain calls his "spiritual guide", and has known for over 20 years, still continues to be a part of John McCain's campaign. PASTOR PARSLEY is a man who has said and continues to say that all muslims, no matter who they are, must be killed, that there should be a war between Christians and Muslims, where Christians must kill Muslims. PASTOR PARSLEY has also said that Amearican has been cursed by God because of the homosexuals, civil libertaians, and the entertainment industry. Knowing all this, John McCain STILL HAS PASTOR PARSLEY ON HIS CAMPAIGN, and still John McCain refers to PASTOR PARSLEY AS HIS SPIRITUAL ADVISOR. ---- AND THEN THERE'S ANOTHER PASTOR JOHN McCAIN STILL HAS ON HIS CAMPAIGN, EVEN WHEN JOHN McCAIN KNOWS WHAT THIS PASTOR BELIEVES, PASTOR HAGEE. John McCain still embraces PASTOR HAGEE, and says over, and over that he APPRECIATES HAGEE'S ENDORSEMENT, even after JOHN MCCAIN KNOWS that PASTOR HAGEE said that the USA deserved 9/11 to happen to us, and that GOD'S CURSE AND DOOM IS STILL UPON AMERICA! AND THAT THE USA WILL CONTINUE TO BE CURSED UNTIL AMERICA CHANGES IT'S WAYS!

KNOWING ALL THIS ABOUT HAGEE, AND PARSLEY, and HAVING BEEN REMINDED OF PASTOR HAGEE'S, AND PARSLEY'S beliefs, by every reporter, JOHN McCAIN SAYS HAGEE, AND PARSLEY WILL REMAIN A PART OF HIS CAMPAIGN. WHY IS JOHN McCAIN HOLDING ON TO THESE MEN SO STRONGLY?

Beast 71, and those like her/him -- Maybe you should as McCain why his FOREIGN POLICY PLAN ALSO INCLUDES HOSTILITIY TOWARD RUSSIA AND CHINA: WHICH ARE TWO MAJOR GLOBAL POWERS.

On March 26, 2008, McCain gave a speech on FOREIGN POLICY in Los Angeles that was billed as his most comprehensive statement on the subject. It contained within it the most radical idea put forward by a major candidate for the presidency in 25 years. Yet almost no one noticed. BIG SURPRISE!!!

In his speech McCain proposed that the United States expel Russia from the G8, the group of advanced industrial countries. Moscow was included in this body in the 1990s to recognize and reward it for peacefully ending the cold war on Western terms, dismantling the Soviet empire and withdrawing from large chunks of the old Russian Empire as well. McCain also proposed that the United States EXCLUDED China from the councils of power.

What McCain has announced is momentous"that the United States should adopt a policy of ACTIVE EXCLUSION and HOSTILITY toward two major global powers. It would reverse a decades-old bipartisan American policy of integrating these two countries into the global order, a policy that began under Richard Nixon (with Beijing) and continued under Ronald Reagan (with Moscow). It is a policy that would alienate many countries in Europe and Asia who would see it as an attempt by Washington to begin a new cold war.

If you have no problem voting for John McCain, perhaps you should stop calling yourself a Democrat.

Maybe that's why RECORD NUMBERS of Americans are changing their party affiliations to Independent - from both sides. Who cares what PARTY is the best; I want the best PERSON capable of leading this country - whether it be a dem, repub, or indy. As it stands it looks like none of the three are worthy of anybody's votes.

Where did you get that statistic? What's your proof of that? Everything I've heard is record number of people becoming Democrats, especially in states like mine where you have to be a Democrat to vote in the primary.
