Giving him every benefit of the doubt, if he were to do such a destructive, cold-blooded and nakedly partisan thing, we will impeach his sorry ass at long last.

Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel has suggested that if Bush attacks Iran, he'll be impeached. I only hope that's true. Congress' gutlessness so far has just about cost us the republic and the Constitution.

Of course they're planning to attack Iran before he leaves office. Anyone even casually watching or reading the news can see that it's all laid out in plain view, just like Iraq was. For all this Administration's secrecy, they've never really hidden anything from us.

The question is, can we prevent it? I think so, but it's not going to be easy.

Bomb Iran and gas goes to $ 250.00 a barrel in a week!

So an unnamed source quotes an unnamed source. Well I am convinced. Silly little hate filled liberals will believe anything that fits their world view.

Yes and us silly little hate filled liberals were the ones warning about what was going to happen in Iraq before dumbya pulled the trigger there.

Just because it "fit our world view". Right. Well, we can see how things turned out there, can't we?

You guys need to get together and form your own country because you're torturing us free thinking liberal progressives. What do you say we move you all to North Dakota? How about Wyoming? You can all bask in your hatred as one and watch Fox news and listen to Rush Limbaugh all day long without any interruptions from the silly Libs. Sound like a plan?

Another right wing bushcyst failure. The dullard and his administration fabricated false information in regards to the existence of lraqi weapons of mass destruction. Manipulative greedy little republicans will do anything too advance their shallow agenda..........

"Silly little hate filled liberals" pretty much says it all.

And what's your point?

Bush sees it as his sacred something? This is on your head Nancy "impeachment is off the table" Pelosi. This is on your head Hillary "We will obliterate Iran" Clinton. Own it. You voted to support the Kyle-Lieberman bill Hillary Clinton - OWN IT. My dislike for all of these dishonorable men and women in our country is bubbling over and I have nothing but contempt for them. May their children and other loved ones suffer the same fate.

Nancy and Hillary are bullet-proof; they have enough money to survive. However. RUCerious presented an idea ----"Military officers should be put on notice that obeying such an order will result in the shitcanning of their careers come January 09." They need their jobs.

It's been reported off and on for a long time that Bush believes it is his sacred duty to attack Iran before leaving office. It would be completely consistent with his past behavior and professed beliefs. And at this point, it's really too late to stop him. The threat of impeachment is meaningless - he'll be out of office in barely more than half a year, regardless. Even if he took the War Powers Act seriously, it leaves a President enough leeway to start a war of choice and present the Congress with a fait accompli. Yes, yes, by all means write to your senators and congresscritters, send telegrams to the White House, go into the streets, etc. But in the end it's going to be a matter of luck if we get through to November without Bush opening up the third front in his war on Islam - oops, I mean *Terror*.

If that doesn't get the bastard impeached, truly, there's no hope for your country.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:47 PM on 05/20/2008

Impeachment isn't a simple process, and there's no hope of that. But there is hope for the country.

The House must bring the charges: that is impeachment. But it is the Senate that is required to convict, the other half of the equation to remove a president from office. It requires a supermajority of votes to do that, and the Republicans hold enough votes to block a conviction.

No it is better to wait until the man is out of office and we have a new President, with a new Attorney General, to bring charges once Presidential Immunity no longer applies.

This story is far from over.

I think it would still be better to bring him up on impeachment charges, even if all it accomplished was staining his precious fantasy-world legacy a little bit.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:22 PM on 05/20/2008

I beg to differ. Certainly the story is far from over, but as Chuchill might have said, the beginning of the start of the end is long overdue.

Note that 22 of the 33 Senate seats up this election cycle are currently held by Republicans. As politicians, they know the worm has turned.

It is the House of Representatives' "duty," in the words of the Declaration of Independence, to do their Constitutional duty to "cast off despotism."

The monkey -- chimp in this case -- MUST be put on the back of the Senate. For the sake of standing up for the Constitution and a good many other reasons.

Visualize -- and DEMAND -- Impeachment

There was time. Dennis Kucinich brought articles of impeachment to the House. In spite of the Hoyer and the majority of Democrats, it was passed through to Conyers who squashed it.

The majority of Dems shielded and supported every criminal action taken by Bush & Co. I wish I could see them all in the Hague on trial for crimes against humanity. Nancy Pelosi explain why she protected these men and then spend the rest of her life in jail.

Doesn't Conyers have a bad history? Who is running against him in the primaries? Send name and number. I will contribute now.

If the neo-cons bombed Iran, the price of gasoline would soar to maybe $ 15.00 a gallon. The effect on our sinking economy would be devastating and that would spell the end of McCain's presidential aspirations. The neo-cons are dumb but not THAT dumb.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:37 PM on 05/20/2008

George Bush is not dumb. He is evil. He doesn't care about the price of gas or the American economy. He doesn't care about the stupid election. He and Cheney like to steal money and kill people. Thats all they have done since they have been in office. There is absolutely nothing to prevent them from attacking Iran because the Democratic congress will not oppose them.

Bush is stupid, evil AND insane. As he might put it, he's hit the trifecta.

People tend to rally around the power in office in times of war. That's why Bush was reelected. We've tired of that war, but the same dynamic would apply if Bush attacked Iran.

Neocons are mentally ill, but they aren't stupid. 51% of the American population has shown that it can be mislead in this way.

Actually, since about 10% of Americans actually benefit from their twisted policies, it's only necessary to hornswoggle about 41% of the population. Which apparently isn't hard.

If Bush/Cheney order an attack it will come from Navy and Airforce aircraft. I would hope that both Commanding officer refuse the order until confirmed by the congress. Upon that time they should both be brought up for impeachment.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:01 PM on 05/20/2008

Actually there is nothing to stop Bush, congress voted and approved that GW Bush can use force anywhere if necessary to combat terrorists. This gives him free reign to attack anyone, anwhere, with impunity.

If the Israeli report is true, then before an attack happens, we're likely to see Gates removed from his post at DoD. The military doesn't take its marching orders from Congress, but from the Pentagon.

Nancy Pelosi and the House leadership should hold a press conference immediately and announce that if Bush attacks Iran without Congressional approval, he will be impeached immediately. She won't because she is a coward and is an accessory to the war crimes Bush has committed since she became Speaker of the House.

Is this not a symptom of the complete failure of U.S. diplomacy?

It would seem to me that speculation by one of our allies on U.S. policy shows our complete lack of communication, not only with our enemies, but with our allies, as well.

Our policy of strike first, ask questions later has most likely caused the world's hair to raise on its axis. The world undoubtedly fears and mistrusts the US.

I am so sick and tired of this administration. Bush and Cheney are both crooks and they should be banished from society.

The very fact that anyone in the US is even discussing attacking Iran is evidence of our almost total lack of awareness of other countries. We are a dumb country, I'm afraid...

Assume these criminals aren't completely whacked out. What would their purpose be in launching another unprovoked attack and escalating the war to a third arena? Even they can't be so stupid as to think it would do anything other than galvanize the independents and the majority of the GOP against them, ruin our economy and push our military past the breaking point. So, can this be their true intent?

Over the next six months, food riots, student riots, gas riots and an escalated war gives them cover for initiating the Dictatorship Directive (google it), canceling the elections suspending the constitution and permanently installing themselves in power.

But can they be so stupid as to think either the populace will timidly sit by or that the military will violate their solemn oath to protect and defend the constitution against ALL enemies, foreing and domestic?

From their every word and deed over the last seven years, it's plan to see that -YES, they are that stupid.
