Besides location, Obama is also expected Tuesday night to declare that he's won a majority of the total number of pledged delegates. There are 3,253 pledged delegates, and Obama, even if he has a poor showing in the Kentucky and Oregon primaries, should easily top the 1,627 delegates needed to make that claim.

Pledged delegates are those won by the candidates in the primary and caucus contests, as opposed to nearly 800 superdelegates, whose votes are not tied to any primary or caucus results. Superdelegates are Democratic governors, members of Congress and party officials.

I am sure Obama will show the proper decorum tonight. I would not be surprised if good wishes for Senator Kennedy were among the first words out of his mouth.

Senator Kennedy, our thoughts are with you and your family through your current journey. Laughter is part of the best treatment regime that life can offer.

actually, the greatest honor to his legacy would be to make sure every American diagnosed with cancer has access to the same health care any Senator would receive

Actually one ought to object to the amendment that provides the amnesty. This is good for Bill Burkle, and good for Bill Clinton.

CLinton, and Diane Feinstein are trying to pull one over on Obama. They have a supplementary appropriations bill for the Gulf War and then have an amendment to provide an amnesty for illegal agricultural immigrants for 5 years, just long enough to skip over an Obama administration.

Fight for American workers and stop this bill : H.R. 2642.

Dianne Feinstein is a traitor and a disgrace.

As a Californian I am ashamed!!!!!

H.R. would mean that you are referencing the House Resolution.

Heh, details. LOL

I get such a chuckle about how little many around here under the process of government - for all their politicizing.

I read that In Mao's little red-book. Purge the words of your your enemy. If that does not work kill your enemy.

No, Georgie. This is more like telling someone talking during a movie to shut up, and when they refuse asking the theater management to remove them.

If you don't like it, raise the capital and start your own website.

Look up the word Lemming! Chairman Mao's purge is nothing compared to what happens here.

I don't like it... your analogy like those of George Bush makes no sense " except in your mind.

Stop the Purge!

As an Oregonian, I'll tell you all about my experience as a voter here. A few weeks ago, I got my voting pamphlet in the mail, and my ballot a day later. As I've researched all the national, state, and local candidates well in advance of voting (a side effect of having to be almost the last state to vote), I was able to fill out my ballot and mail it off down at the post office. A nice side effect of this system is that there's an actual paper trail, and I don't have to go anywhere...I just did the whole thing on the dining room table. Easier than doing my taxes. Most Oregonians have already voted, so we don't have long lines at the polling places and we don't have to turn people away like they do in a lot of states. The only voting machines we've got are the automated counting machines at the election headquarters. We don't have machines with shady operators at various random polling places running away with the flash cards afterward. We don't have problems with "hanging chads".

Write your legislators and get them to go to a mail in system in your state, if you like the way that sounds.

Yes, it does sound efficient and desirable. And, after Obama mentioning in his speech in Portland that other states should adopt some of Oregon's progressive ways of doing things, I'm not surprised to hear that their way of voting is a good deal.

Florida just went to mail in voting. Hey we needed it here. However, you can still choose to actually go to the polls. So it is a mixed bag.

It's a shame that the Kennedy thread is closed and we who truly wish nothing but the very best for him, cannot express our feelings because of the possible unguarded comments of a few.

Senator Kennedy my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
