There's widespread speculation that Oprah Winfrey's brand has been harmed by her endorsement of Barack Obama — the first political endorsement of her life — but the news that he's wrapped up the nomination has left her feeling nothing but joy. In a statement to "Entertainment Tonight," Oprah said that she's "euphoric" over Obama's nomination:

"I'm euphoric, I've been doing the happy dance all day. I'm so proud of Barack and Michelle Obama and what this means for all of us ... the new possibilities for our country. And if he wants me to, I'm ready to go door to door."

Oprah is human and she is an American citizen she should be allowed to chose
and endorse who she wants to be president , without any backlash.

I am very proud of them both

OBAMA anybody but Hillary 08

"There are a lot of her fans who are not Democrats or who support Hillary Clinton who feel betrayed," she added.

THis I don't quite get; Oprah supporters need to get a life. She wasnt supposed to have a differing view?
Oprah will be alright and she has done an incredible sercvice by backing Obama and for that we are thankful/.

I suspect the number of Oprah fans who feel betrayed by her endorsement is quite small, the media is just hyping it because the media doesn't like that a black woman as influential as Oprah becoming politically active. The media wants to keep a black woman like Oprah in her place. Oprah's ratings have not declined anymore than most of the shows in syndication; in fact her show remains number one despite the increasing competetion from Ellen, cable news, the internet.

Many have commented on her show's decline citing that it may be due to support for Barack Obama. I've got an entirely different take which is maybe her show is just not as fresh anymore. Afterall, there's her timeslot competition --Ellen, etc. I've looked at what she's had on her program recently and frankly it has nothing to do with who she supported for prez but a lack of interesting material on her show.

Oprah is a racist.

Anyone remember her black power salute to Jamie Foxx when he won the Oscar for Ray?

Says it all.

opponents. Hillary was not the right woman. she has no integerity at all.

Snipers, Rfk, can't manage a budget of 100 million dollars how can you trust
her with trillions. Stop the hate, vote for who want too , but be fair Oprah is
not a racist. This country is in a sad sad state of affairs, and we should
all be praying instead of hating on each other

Oprah is first and foremost an American. As such, she as well as every other American, whether in the public eye or not, has every right to endorse or not endorse. Oprah didn't get where she is by being stupid. She knew full well that there was some risk involved. But look the woman is a billionaire. She's not doing her show for the money. IMO, she believes that she can help people. She believed that O8 was the person to turn this country around and she endorsed him. I say more power to her!!!

Very well put! I am white, but love Oprah and first started to loo at Obama when her was on her show. She is a example on honesty and truth - no one has live in her shoes and can say "racist" about her. She is anything but!
Her support is exciting because she reaches many women too!

Thank you Oprah for putting it all on the line for Obama and by default the change this country so badly needs.

Some of us will forever be greatful to Ms Winfrey for taking this political risk no matter the so-called financial loss.

I have no doubt that Oprah believes that any financial losses suffered are more than worth this moment in history!!

Thanks Oprah for your leadership

I always felt that Oprah should've stayed true to the real people that made her career. When you go against the white majority they turn their back on you with no problem.

It shows that she has courage and conviction. She's not going to do what's expedient but what's right.

people are saying her ratings are down because of Barack. There are other reasons - such as her embrace of the wacky spiritual mumbo jumbo ("the Secret") and all that crap. It turned off a lot of her older female audience.

And anyway, I think it's great that Oprah is taking a stand. She obviously cares more about the country and who becomes president than about her ratings.

I know, her ratings have been on a steady decline for the last three years. I think the Obama argument just fit so nicely into the media's race obsession.

All of the televisions ratings have taken a dive this year... American Idol ratings were down due to the writers strike... so no surprise that Oprah's ratings are down also...

Why do people automatically assume Oprah's ratings are down because of her endorsement. Have they considered that ALL ratings are down since the writer's strike.

The source of the information about her ratings, should be checked! Did it come from Nielsen or some other source? Or is it part of the Left or Right Wing Cons? Thing have been having a way of disappearing on line currently

I believe viewership is down across the board this year. Even American Idol was down this year. As far as her magazine, just about all subscriptions are down as well. It's the economy___________! lol! Has nothing to do with her endorsing BO.

It's also the web. I love her show but often miss it because I'm on the web. The web is eating into the audience of both television and print media.

Personally, I can't credit Oprah for my vote. I will however credit her show for inspiring me to be a better person.

I'm doing a happy dance along with her. Fire it up. Ready to go.

I can credit Oprah for turning me into an Obama fan. I really wasn't warming up to him at first, and figured he had no chance, but when I saw someone as influential and loving as Oprah campaigning her heart out for him in Iowa and South Carolina, I couldn't help but give him a serious second look.

I can. I was not warming up to Obama at first, and would not have supported him, but seeing Oprah's enthusiasm when she campaigned in Iowas and South Carolina really changed my mind. I was convinced he had no chance, but when you see someone as influential and loving as Oprah having so much faith in him, you can't help but take a second look. I decided to open my heart to Obama and I'm so glad I did. Thank you Oprah.
