John Cusack, whose new film "War, Inc" is in theaters and whose MoveOn.org ad is tearing up the airwaves, was the #1 story on "Countdown" Friday night when he sat for an interview. Cusack and Olbermann talked about politics, celebrities getting involved with politics, war profiteering and more. Why do the ad? "If torture is going to be a profit business... I think your conscience dictates you speak out."

I used to luv John Cusack. Now he's on my list of people I am disillusioned with, along with Olbermann. I didn't think the ad was that good either. He's full of himself.

Cusack is a smart guy, and though brief this was a very interesting interview.

Hope to see more in the future. Keep up the great work John!!!

Guess what? companies are more productive than the government, that's why they are involved. Why doesn't this chump use the government on his movie sets, cuz nothing would get done. I wish I had some time to be an "activist"! When I am not at work I am with my kids. I guess I could be an activist if I paid someone to raise my kids for me. Keep your day job, so you dont sound like another hollywood fool who knows how to run a government. You'd probably fire your assistant the first time they didn't answer their phone by the 3rd ring. Privatize social security.....I only could wish.

Private companies are working in Iraq are responsible for the it being a mess. The banking industry is private and not regulated which is why we have a housing crisis. The oil cartels and commodities trading are private and not regulated which is why we have an oil crisis. Social Security is the most successful government program in history, which other countries around the world have copied.

Reality pops priviatization neo-con bubble rhetoric every time.

This was a great interview. I loved it when Olbermann showed the video of Bush waving to 2 solitary people who didn't wave back to Bush. It was priceless and funny. Moveon has done a suberb job with the ads they have come up with this year. Cusack is right this war has become a for profit business with the money that oil, energy companies and defense contractors are making at the expense of our troops.

Yeah, the media clowns on the conservative side are such gifted journalists - O'Reilly, Limbaugh, Hannity. Get a grip. It is so easy to see the reality of the Bush administration when you follow the money, similar to solving a crime. Who has benefited from the war? Answer - big oil and companies such as Halliburton.

As I scroll down the comments, I see the Republican wing-nuts are out in force. Does the party pay you a dollar for every absurd, belligerant post?

People are finding hope. And as the feeling grows as we are beginning to speak out. It's been a tough 8 years for a lot of us who feel so helpless.

Obama will win the election. No doubt.. Hopefully the Bushes and Cheneys retire to a ranch in Paraguay. Since we don't have the guts to prosecute.

Besides the White House, we will handilly take control of Congress and eventually the SupremeCourt.

THEN, it will be time for re-examination of who we are asa party. We need to let those Democrats who collaborated so with the Neo Cons and their corporate lobbyists know their time is limited. Through grass roots organizations we must run dedicated Democrats in the primaries against these Pelosis and Reids who brokered the backroom deals to continue this mess for some unknown reason. The people spoke in 2006. It was the Dems that didn't listen closely. This time, I look forward to a wave of true patriots of this country to re-examine their priorities and realize it's not all about money. Only then will the true issues of our country begin to be dealt with.

After so many years in the wildnerness can we truly come together and make a decent society for all our citizens? We can, only if those citizens pay closer attention.

John Cusack confuses me in this sense: I have heard him say on several occasions that he is a Libertarian.
From what I know about Libertarianism with its emphasis on small government and individual liberties it would seem to me that, judging by his policies, Barack Obama would be anathema to Cusack...and yet he seems to be much approving of him.

Well possibly a Canadian perspective, with a historial basis, might help ... 'Libertarianism if necessary, but not necessary Libertarianism ...'

Saying this just one would make John 'King for a day'

"You gotta take a hard look at the Democrats."

"The rule of law is out the window when you are within striking distance of the White House."

Cusack is a follower of Naomi Klein, who tells it like it is, whether you wanna hear it or not.

Keith to Cusack; why was your movie so unbelievably BAD?
Cusack to Keith; maybe because I had rewrite privileges?
Possibly because everyone was on drugs except me.

A non-content, smea(R) the messenger ... err ... 'response'. What a surprise! However, when compared to comments like 'torture for profit', its poverty must be evident even to someone with your 'valuez'.

I'm looking forward to seeing this movie. I respect John Cusack a great deal, and this only deepens that respect. He is right on so many things, and certainly the impeachment issue. We need a leader we can be proud of, and we need a leader who brings respect, not shame, to this country. Bush is as corrupt as they come. I must admit, though, that seeing George Bush wave to the two guys who could give a rat's rear is as good as anything I could ever hope to see on The Colbert Report! Bush is and always has been for business and greed. It is time to send a message that this country does not share the Bush philosophy. Impeach Now!

Wolf is someone with gravitas and seriousness and says all the things
you like...like bombing Iran, like saying nice things about the Iraq
war. But you don't like that gruff gruff man on Wolf's show that makes
fun of Woff Woff, do you. That's because it's so easy to do.
