Through the magic of editing (by "The O'Reilly Factor") Carlin was able to point out one last ridiculous figure.

Is O'Reilly saying "Kos" after Carlin's soundbite, or what?

I don't see the point of this clip at all.

Neither did I. Unless of course we're supposed to infer that the audio clip of George Carlin saying "some people are really fucking stupid" preceding the video of Bill O'Reilly somehow sounds like George Carlin calling Bill O'Reilly "really fucking stupid" and we're supposed to titter and guffaw at that stretch...

I met the man about 7 years ago, standing next to him in line at the Virgin store on Sunset Blvd. He was very gracious when I asked to shake his hand, and since we finished our purchases at the same time, we wound making the trip to the parking garage together and talking. Carlin's last words as we split to go to our separate cars were, "Be good, you"!

Just a nice little memory.

Lovely story. Thanks, maca.

I agree that this blog is a contrived story. There's no there there.

"Jumbo shrimp" still pops into my mind as the ultimate oxymoron coined by George. Of all his routines, this was one of my favorites. I remember sitting around with friends, 'relaxing' and listening to the newest George Carlin album. We all knew Saturday Night Live was going to be a great and new kind of comedy show when word spread that George Carlin was to be the first host. Great times, memories and ridiculously hardy laughter all courtesy of Mr. Carlin. He was one of a kind and will be missed.

George Carlin was too shrewd and too cynical by half, as they say. He denied a lot of good before he even came upon it because of one of the most monumental chips on the shoulder in human history. Sad, because he was brilliant, but negativity will always keep you on the margins. It will always alienate you from some good people who don't have your acid bath coming.

Well count me in on the margins as well!

I think George did pretty well for himself--and for those of us who get his humour--on the margins.

I think you wrote George Carlin where you should have written Bill O'Reilly.

Don't be a hater. It's apparent that you did not understand the man or his art. I had the pleasure of having George Carlin as a customer and he was by no means negative,in fact quite the contrary. He was very friendly and had an great attitude towards life and people which was reflected in his comedy. If you disagree with his observations on life fine, but don't impugn him with your faults.

If you've read anything about George you'd know that he liked it on the fringe--was comfortable on the fringe. While his approach may have alienated him from some good people, it also protected him from large numbers of doofuses who he didn't respect, didn't like, and wanted nothing to do with.

Right in the middle of O'Reilly's promo comes Carlin stating "Some people are really f---ing stupid."

I mean, how perfect is that !! I wonder if Carlin is pulling any strings up in heaven !!!

Wow! Thanks for helping me to find the best definition I've ever thought of in my life of the difference between "glib" and "intelligent": Dennis Miller and George Carlin.

"I prefer people with imagination: dictators, serial killers, schizophrenics, assassins, skinheads, drug lords, violent bikers, devil worshippers. To me, these are the interesting people. To get its edge back, I think what America really needs is more evil. Intense, unalloyed, concentrated evil."

- George Carlin

Any question that he was talking about Bill O'Reilly?
