I always thought that the Democratic Party was for Gay rights, obviously one of the new CHANGES is that they have become openly homophobic.
Just one more reason for an ex-democrat to vote republican.
Watch out, your coalition is eroding as you keep offending your base.

This is an attempt at being innocuous to see if I can produce a message that will make it through the censors.
Log Cabin Republicans? I thought All Republicans were "log cabin"--after all, "Log Cabin" is an obvious reference to Abraham Lincoln, founder of the Republican party, no? Why should gay Republicans feel they have some special proprietary rights to the concept?

Let's face it, though, what McCain needs to do is emphasize what is unconsciously motivating the press and the great American intelligent voting public to want him as President of the United States. Everyone thinks about that cute blond in the white uniform on crutches, right? Don't deny it! He should make it the Logo of his campaign, maybe even have it colorized. It's a media person's exciting dream!

Based on your incoherent sentence, you obviously aren't one of those college educated gay Democrats.

You've got to be kidding! Gays aren't any more likely to vote than anyone else, let alone vote intelligently! Rather than leaving marriage to die out as something specially for the heterosexually inclined or bound, many Gays self-destructively want to keep the whole ruined concept going and fail to see that their endorsement and even revival of the heterosexual conceptt, marriage, puts the blue ribbon of approval on a failed and outdated institution. Who needs a marriage to live together and rear children? Heterosexuals are forced to marry by the current cultural and financial pressures that make single life and parenthood so unprofitable. It's as if before gays got on this hobby-horse marriage might have been allowed to dry up and blow away.
Democrats more intelligent than Republicans? What an idea! I'll take Nelson
Rockefeller to Governor Wallace any day, and that would be just the start of a long, long list. What? Dixiecrats were intelligent?
As for being "college educated", well, this sounds like Ernestine spouting off: "And I am a high school GRAD-YOU -AYTE.!"

If you understood all the rights that a marriage provides, you wouldn't be saying that. Gays would thrive in that institution because they won't get a divorce over something as silly as infidelity.

Consider this. A wife can never be made to testify against her husband. Why should gay couples be forced to testify against one another?

Considering that your average public bathroom has more closeted gay Republicans in it than clean towels, I would say the answer to that is yes.

Consider the list:

Larry Craig
Mark Foley
Bob Allen
Ted Haggard
Glenn Murphy
Barry Edwards
Jim West
Richard Curtis

And those are only the more prominent names.

As the sister of and parent of lesbians I am truly appalled at Gay Repub.'s.

is your economic concern ($$$) more important than the basic civil rights you and your brethren are denied? Your party has no problem with discriimination based on sexual orientation in the work place, in the military, and in the law. Your party thinks that what you are is a SIN. This attitude contributes substantially to violence against gays. This attitude contrubted to the death of Matt Shephard.

YOUR party does not consider you a full citizen, with the same protections as other citizens under the 14th Amendment. Without those protections, what happened in Nazi Germany to gays could happen here. if you are a Repub and gay, SHAME ON YOU.

I think you're missing the point. I see nothing wrong with a bunch of gay fiscal conservatives forming a bloc within the Republican Party in order to influence it to be less anti-gay. And if they were able to meet with their party's nominee, more power to them.

The head of the Log Cabin Republicans should ask John McCain to promise him a prime time speaking spot at the convention.

Log Cabin Republicans:

We're here and we're queer, and we want offshore drilling, offshore tax havens, tax loopholes, bigger govt paid for by the little people, no-bid contracts, govt. modeled after corporations, outsourcing for everything....

Why don't they change their name to something more gay profile oriented. not some corny folksy name like 'log cabin." something like:

HOMOSEXUAL GOP, or perhaps GAY AND PROUD REPUBLICANS. No, we have some weird reference to log cabins, many liberals don't even know what that group's demographics are or have even heard of them, and of course republicans want them to really disapear.

So what you're saying is that McCain has done more gay outreach than Obama, who seems to find every opportunity he can to team up with homophobic bigots in his campaign.

Nope.

Gays may support Republicans, but Republicans do not support gay rights issues.

What a predictable but nonetheless idiotic comment. The entire Republican party is filled with "homophobic bigots." That's why McCain held a "secret" meeting with the LCR leader.

"Seems." Such a wonderful word. It blunts your libel so delicately.

O has a wonderful team of people doing outreach to the LGBT community. His campaign has provided us with tools and materials to make a strong presence at LGBT Pride events around the country. Several of his closest advisors and spokespeople are openly gay, and not just those in LGBT outreach.

We have had conference calls with his LGBT team, Melissa Etheridge is sponsoring his voter registration drive, and his website has a lively and information packed LGBT section.

O has the most LGBT-progressive agenda of any major party candidate in US history. Read the truth here and avoid the smears of StephenDedalus:

On the plus side the number of gay republicans is small enough that the meeting probably could be easily held in a closet anyway.

A closet would be the place for it all right - as Bill Moyer once said the GOP should change their mascot to a moth, cause they're all in the closet.
