Gov. Bobby Jindal attracted national attention and strongly worded advice about how he should deal with the Louisiana Science Education Act.

Jindal ignored those calling for a veto and this week signed the law that will allow local school boards to approve supplemental materials for public school science classes as they discuss evolution, cloning and global warming.

The state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education will have the power to prohibit materials, though the bill does not spell out how state officials should go about policing local instructional practices.

The perfect successor to Cheney, Dumb as a doorknob and meaner than a junk yard dog deprived of food for several days.

You can call Cheney any nasty word in the book, but you can't call him dumb.

Jindal's perfect to round out the losing ticket; a vudun talker in tongues, representing the true Heart of Darkness in our country.

This guy is a real winner huh? I hope is a realist VP choice. Not only will we be able to have a field day with the million gaffes that McCain does and says on a regular basis, but it will be great fun to tear this guy in to a million pieces.

The Scopes trial ended the issue a century ago. I bet the GOP faithful would not approve of the Bill of Rights. Magic super spirits do not belong in a science class. The bible belongs with other similar books, in a fiction reading class.

if we are going to teach creationism in schools, why just the christain version of creation? why not every single religions' version of creation, then? that would make for some very interesting classes right

Religious teaching are a metaphor. Obviously the Universe created itself. Our words, however, by design separate this from that and create the illusion that this and that are separate. The word god by definition means that god is separate but it all in the head.

Looking forward to the day when people will realize that the bible is a book of old, scary stories, not something to base your life on.

What next, teaching Grimm's Fairy Tales as Science?

Organized, monotheistic religions are political machines that seek to keep all power in the hands of the most ignorant, hateful men in the world by spreading fear and lies.

Don't worry about "going to hell" - wake up, look around you, and see the hell on earth these people have created with these stories.

I'm not sure how chemical castration got shoehorned into an article about public school curriculum, but I don't think it's a coincidence that Senator Larry Craig cancelled his planned vacation in bayou country.

Don't validate superstition by using the Orwellian "creationism." The headline should be "Jindal endorses teaching religion in public schools." That's what that is, religion. He endorses teaching fairy tales instead of science. The "ism" is intended to deceive, like everything else from the right wing.

I wonder if the kids who will be taught creationism are allowed to wear shoes to school?

As for chemical castration, if I am correct in understanding that it is reversable, then why should it not be used under appropriate circumstances? If it is not reversable, then I am not sure that I would want to trust that a conviction is a gaurantee of guilt. DNA evidence has proven that too many innocent men have been sent to prison because of lazy police, crooked prosecutors, and honest mistakes.

I kinda doubt this yo yo actually beleives in all this creationizm mumbo jumbo. He just knows just how to pander to the fanatical fundamentalist treaks so he can climb the political ladder. He probably practices hinduism at home.
