Pelosi Wants Bush To Release Some Oil From Strategic Reserves

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is calling on President Bush to release oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve in order to bring down prices.

Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced to Democratic leaders Tuesday night that she has written a letter to President Bush, urging him to release a "small" amount of oil from the government stockpile to increase supply and decrease prices, a leadership aide said.

Raise the price enough, the demand will go down.

She wrote him a "letter". I hope she dotted the i's with little circles and included smiley faces and used "please" a lot. This woman does not have the will, the fortitude or desire to be confrontational or adverserial when the situation demands it even though 70% of the American people want strong leadership from the Democrats in congress, especially when this nation is languishes in misery at home and abroad in its foreign relations. Mrs. Pelosi should be home baking cookies for her grandchildren. There are other good Democratic congressmen and women who could do a better job than the current "Speaker" who has abandoned the position.

but no, MANY in S.F. don't like her. Some, say, though, that they like the fact that their rep has the speakership, that a new rep wouldn't have it, and therefore, they'll suffer with Nancy.

However, as I said, many really don't like her. She CAN be defeated with a well-funded campaign that has good name recognition. Well, Cindy Sheehan, "Peace mom", does have good name recognition! She does not, however, thus far, have a well-funded campaign. Please help change that!

Pelosi is an idiot.
The Strategic Oil Reserve is for emergencies such as OPEC cutting off the flow of oil or Iran closing the Persian Gulf. We have a couple of months supply in case of emergencies. That's it.
Releasing some of this oil would only artificially drive down prices a little and if the oil was later replaced it would be bought at a higher rate.
Sooo.....Pelosi would like to put more oil on the market as long as we don't drill for more here in the US? This seems a bit like hypocrisy.
