This sounds like a dream, doesn't it? Well, it's not. We have a unique opportunity right now to send Karl Rove to jail, but only if we take immediate action.

All we have to do is pressure the 40 members of the House Judiciary Committee, make them hold Rove in contempt and send him to jail. We've never had such a direct opportunity to hold Rove accountable. No, this is not enough punishment for his years and years of crimes, but it's a huge start, and will send a very clear message to the entire Bush administration.

We put together this video to explain the issues surrounding Rove's failure to testify before Congress, and why Rove should be held in contempt and sent to jail. Check out Send Karl Rove to Jail, and sign our petition to ensure that the HJC holds Rove in contempt.

Today at 1pm ET / 10am PT, the first episode of Meet the Bloggers will air live, and Karl Rove will be the big topic of discussion with bloggers Marcy Wheeler, Liliana Segura, Baratunde Thurston, and special guest Arianna Huffington. The video will be featured on the show, sign the petition, forward it to friends (don't forget to Digg it), and go to meetthebloggers.org to send in your own thoughts, and join the discussion at 1pm ET.

If you can't watch live, you can always see what was discussed on the show anytime you want at meetthebloggers.org.

Friends at Fox will be greatly disappointed with this! Brit Hume will swallow his tongue and Bill Kristol will faint right away.
Next on the stand- Nancy Pelosi. Under threat of prison, we should hold her to account for covering up this administrations illegal wiretapping and torture memos. She was privy to that info (as well as Harry Reid and Jay Rockefeller). Give her immunity (along with the telcos she helped) and let's clean house in a big, meaningful way. Yeah, that means democrats too. Sworn to fun- loyal to none.

If arrested before January, Bush will just pardon him.

I hope you're just ignorant and not stupid. If impeachment proceedings were introduced, the President's power to grant pardons GOES AWAY! He CAN NOT pardon (or grant immunity) to anyone else! Forget about ever getting AT&T (retroactive immunity (unF#CKINGbelievable)) but as for anybody else, no. It would stop when impeachment was put back "on the table". "Off the table" Pelosi. That will be her label for life.

Titonwan: I think you may have jumped charmedgreenquark's case a tad prematurely. ;-) Rove's arrest for contempt is not intrinsically linked with impeachment proceedings for Bush/Cheney. It is entirely possible (and unfortunately, probable) that if Rove was indicted and arrested, the Congressional Dems would still be too gutless to defend the US Constitution by starting impeachment proceedings.

Thus, Rove could/would be pardoned.

I hate it, too, but ... I think cgq's point does still stand.

The moment the House called the meeting to order and Karl Rove's chair sat empty, the committee should have directed the House Sergeant at Arms and a Federal Marshall to find and detain Rove. Then to bring him to the meeting or be charged with contempt of Congress and JAILED immediately.

These bastards have done way too much shitting on the laws of this land and somewhere, somehow, it all has to stop!

This would be a nice first step.

Rove should be arrested and jailed just as anyone else would be in his circumstance. He is the most dangerous lawbreaker......yet he is allowed to remain above the law and free.

Can't we just go to the police station and press charges against him - then get a warrant for his arrest?

I've always been willing to do a citizen's arrest of Rove.

It's what ANY good citizen would do.

It's legal.
It's binding.

Anyone want to join in?

The last seven and a half years have been a nightmare for so many of us who live here. Karl Rove's role in the destruction of our Democracy has to be punished. Otherwise, there will be no closure of the darkest period in our history.

He was a political advisor and a chief ,or deputy chief of staff at the white house.

He outsmarted all of the other political operatives from all sides. How does that make him a criminal?

He made no policy decisions, he only gave advice, political advice. I must be missing something.

What specific criminal activity has he done? I want it for reference.

It is absolutely stupefying that this criminal is at large.
It is beyond stupefying that he is treated as a pundit and journalist.
Putting him in jail is no trivial task as the BushCo crime syndicate will do everything it can to prevent it.

And he has quite a following. Writes for Time or NewsWeek, one or the other. I heard even CNN wants to hire him.

G.Gordon Liddy wrote bestsellers after he got out of jail.
Popularity and criminality are not mutually exclusive.
