John McCain gets aggressive in his new ad, accusing Obama of changing his position on the Iraq for political reasons and ignoring Afghanistan in the Senate. He also released a 17-page booklet attacking Obama's foreign policy, complete with the candidate's once-used, much-mocked seal.

[WATCH]

The transcript:

ANNCR: Barack Obama never held a single Senate hearing on Afghanistan.

He hasn't been to Iraq in years.

He voted against funding our troops.

Positions that helped him win his nomination. Now Obama is changing to help himself become president.

John McCain has always supported our troops and the surge that's working.

McCain. Country first.

JOHN MCCAIN: I'm John McCain and I approve this message.

I am really sick of hearing "the first responsibility of president is to protect the country"
it is not
The first responsibility of the president is to protect and uphold the constitution.
Let the people protect the country.
the president protects the constitution.
I think we're gonna see a bologna election, and we better get in the street if this one gets stolen again.

The arguement about funding the troops is a weak one. funding the troops, does not mean supporting the policy.

Senator McCain has been to Iraq so many times that he can't even tell the difference between the Sunnis and the Shias.

Everything that the ad says is a fact.

If that is an "attack," then so be it. If Obama takes the positions that he takes, and he thinks that those are the right positions, then how can a statement of those positions be interpreted as "attacks?"

Obama should be proud of his positions. In fact, he won the primary largely because he claimed that he was the only Senator that was always correct in his opposition to the Iraq war. Didn't he boast of this quite frequently? Was he attacking himself?

If he no longer holds this position, then he has changed his position. Stating this is an "attack?"

Phil,
Why does McCain HATE military personnel so much?

McCain votes AGAINST our combat troops A LOT ....

5/22/2008: McCain voted AGAINST Webb GI Bill. [vote 137]

9/19/2007: McCain voted AGAINST a Bill to specify minimum periods of time between deployment of units sent to Iraq. [vote 341]

5/4/2006: McCain voted AGAINST an Amendment that would provide $20 Million to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for health care facilities. [vote 111]

4/26/2006: McCain was one of only 13 Senators to vote AGAINST $430,000,000 for the Department of Veteran Affairs for Medical Services for outpatient care and treatment for veterans. [vote 98]

3/14/2006: McCain voted AGAINST increasing Veterans medical services funding by $1.5 billion in FY 2007 to be paid for by closing Corporate Tax Loopholes. McCain loves tax loopholes for Corporations, he voted for them over veterans' needs. [vote 41]

3/10/2004: McCain voted AGAINST increasing Veterans' medical care by $1.8 billion. [vote 40]

10/2/2003: McCain voted to TABLE an Amendment by Sen. Dodd that called for an additional $322,000,000 for safety equipment for United States Forces in Iraq. "Table" means Amendment never hits the floor. [vote 376]

4/2/2003: McCain voted to TABLE a vote to provide more than $1 Billion for National Guard and Reserve Equipment in Iraq related to a shortage of helmets, tents, bullet-proof inserts, and tactical vests. [vote 116]

Attack ads will be all they will have up to November and they'll be recognized as such and not any policy positions that voters will rally behind.

McCain: I supported the SURGE, and the SURGE has SUCCEEDED and we are WINNING because the SURGE was absolutely SURGETASTIC. The SURGE was so Great that the IRAQ are planning to name a new Town in the Southern Province after it be McCainistan-ika - named after the great mine who thought of the SURGE .

BERLIN, July 19 (Reuters) - Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki told a German magazine he supported prospective U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's proposal that U.S. troops should leave Iraq within 16 months.

In an interview with Der Spiegel released on Saturday, Maliki said he wanted U.S. troops to withdraw from Iraq as soon as possible.

"U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama talks about 16 months. That, we think, would be the right timeframe for a withdrawal, with the possibility of slight changes."

Nice try, McCain, but as usual you're a little behind the curve.

the idea that you need to visit a place to make an informed decision about it is probably the stupidist argument I have ever heard.
Did IKE need to visit Berlin to decide to invade Germany?

At least my candidate will be able to differentiate the warring factions, and will know which country he is in at any given moment. 'Mr. McExperience' doesn't even know what day it is most of the time - unless it's the weekend.
