Yesterday, a Public Policy Polling survey showed Barack Obama with a solid lead in Ohio. But a Rasmussen Reports poll today suggests he's not so secure: John McCain gets 46% of the vote while Obama takes 40%. When "leaners" are included in the totals, McCain leads Obama 52% to 42%.

Past Rasmussen polls showed McCain with a statistically insignificant one point lead in the state.

This country has a history of voting against our interest. I.E> GWB's second term.

I will not at all suprised if we do it again.

I think a lot of people will not vot for McCain but vote against the black guy.

Yes, I really wish I was wrong but somehow....I dont think so and that makes me sad.

I wish it made you mad instead of sad then maybe you would go out and do something about it instead of cry.

Seriously?!

Isn't Ohio suffering mightily from REPUBLICAN policies??!!!!!

I don't get it.

If these people aren't paying attention now - if they are not going to vote their interests now, then when?

NAFTA was blamed for it all. Of course it is not mentioned that if one pulls out the oil and gas imports from Mexico and Canada the trade balance swings in our favor and msny jobs are created. Manufacturing jobs have been lost to Ohiom and Michigan because they were moved to Texas, North and South Caroline, etc. not only to China and Mexico. Why are the jobs moving and no new jobs are created in Ohio et al? Because of anti business tax policies, labor practices etc. Those have not been produced by republicans alone....in fact mostly by unions and the democrats they have in their pockets.

Possibly some Ohio voters heard the same promises in the last congressional elections, and saw no changes with the new majority?

Not sure, but what other explanation could there with Bush bumblings and McCain's mumblings? He shouldn't have more than 10%! Though I have noticed a huge Republican slant is almost all the polls that favor McCain. Right wing bias is in all of the polls that show McCain tied or ahead.

I was born and raised in Ohio and I am pro-Obama. No one asked for my opinion. Just because a few Ohio residents are willing to vote against their interests does not mean that the masses are dumb.

While much of Stewart's musing about the accuracy of polls is legitimate. I fault HuffPost here for not going into much MORE depth about the methodology of the polls. How were the people selected? Are they randomly selected, are they enrolled LIKELY VOTERS, or just registered voters? Was it a phone in poll, an internet poll, a person on the street poll. A phonebank poll. What time of the day was it conducted? Did it include cell phone numbers? All of those are factors that can influence a poll as much as 0.1-10.0%. I totally disregard any poll that doesn't include some statement of methodology. Without that statement it is impossible to even evaluate if you should believe the +/- 3-5% disclaimer or not.

What Stewart says is true, but with a little deeper digging, average people can begin to make some sense of polling.

Without Clinton he will lose. Period.

No voter fraud... unless of course you want to talk about the democratic primaries and the voting booths that had to stay open late?

Oh, but that's inconvenient isn't it?

The conservative republican's dislike McCain as much as the liberal democrats.

The fringe groups on both sides are the ones to look out for.

I mean.. come on.. it's tough enough for McCain to appear to be alive, let alone energize a base of voters that hate him because god tells them to.

I'm stuck between two candidates that I don't like:
McCain: A republican.. blech.. but.. best economic platform and understands foreign policy and things like the 2nd amendment (which is important as we should embrace the constitution and quit giving up our liberties).
Obama: Brilliant speaker. However he flip flops and doesn't understand the military or foreign policy (which in all honesty is the most important asset a candidate needs at this time). His economic platform is more liberal than Clintons, and will increase the size of the government (which is a terrible terrible thing).

The upside for McCain is that we'll have a bottleneck, and the least harm will come to the average American. Look at what's happened under a republican senate/house and a republican presidency? It's been worse than awful.
Bill Clinton's strength is that he was able to lead us to making the right policy decisions. It's a subtle, but all important difference between the Clintons and Obama. Hillary's plans follow the same pattern as Bills.
So while I would support Clinton as president, with the understanding that her moderate views would restrain congress, that cannot be said of Obama.

"and will increase the size of the government (which is a terrible terrible thing). ".....lol...have you been asleep the last 7+ years...who has increased the size of government during this period???(...."which is a terible, terrible thing") and you even consider mcsame because of his economics and understanding of foreign policy??????...and as you can see from obamas trip this week, he has absolutely NO understanding of military or foreign policy????? yeah, right....lol...you meant this as satire, right....?
just fyi,,,it helps to have facts when you discuss these things....

I like the way you used "blech" to describe McCain, but afterwards had nothing but positive things to say about him. How clever. I also noticed you had upsides for McCain and Clinton, but none for Obama. You PUMacCAINites are predictible and transparent. Your talking points are old and boring, as well as is your "entitlement mentality".

You should spend as much time looking into the candidate's positions as you do this quality piece of self fulfilling prophesy.
Then we could speak about issues, instead of me having to fend off more baseless attacks.

May I ask what you like about McSames Economic platform? And the can you please explain the point about his foreign policy?

In my mind his Economic platform is more of the same. Deregulate everything so we the consumer, get less for more money and the super rich get richer yet.

And I have a real problem with someone that truly does not understand the fundamental differences between Sunni and Shia or cannot tell us what country boarders Pakistan having anything to do with our foreign policy.

As far as flip flopping take a good hard look at your man McSame. He changes his stance more often than he changes his diaper.

I find it painful to think that you actually believe that McSame has any views that are truly his own and not planted by his handlers, other than wanting to be President before he dies of course.

The republican crooks will probably try and steal this election like they did with Kerry in 2004. Lets try and keep a vigilant on cheating and tell everyone you know what happened in Ohio in 2004.
