China May Ban Live Broadcasts During Olympics

I have lived and worked in China for ten years now, traveled all over, worked in various capacities, have Chinese family, etc. There is ONE thing and ONLY ONE thing that will cause China to pay attention and change. A boycott of their products. That is the only thing that will cause them to listen. The only thing. And believe me, they WILL LISTEN to that - loud and clear! It's simple too, wow. But, unfortunately, while everyone is big on talk, almost no one really cares enough to even take such a simple action as that. The world is full of windbags. Any poster here who buys another product from China, while complaining about how something should be done...well, you know.

Nice to know they have over a Trillion in our Treasuries, are buying up our wealth producing assets, and annually re-affirm that they are Communists, isn't it? Our country is like a bad relationship: "I just know I can change him, if we get married." Sadly, these relationships, like ours with China, will end in a divorce--and they'll get everything.

Well, they may, but is anyone going to notice? I won't.

The Olympic Games are no longer necessary. Big waste of time, money, and steroids.

Hoo Boy! Excessive control seems to be a bit of a problem amongst China's power elites. This sort of control qualifies as aberrant for sure. How do such twisted people manage to get to the top and run the lives of millions of other far more normal people?

Paranoid, fearful little men. They think their iron-fisted control speaks to their strength, but it's just the opposite: it speaks to their weakness, their fear of impotency.

Everyone sees what is happening in Tibet and how the Chinese are dealing with it. The cat's out of the bag. Maybe it's time to seriously consider the unthinkable: return Tibet to the Tibetans? China's standing in the world would rise appreciably. Censoring the Olympics just puts another nail in their coffin. Besides being control freaks, these people are surprisingly stupid.

People assume that Red China is still a Communist state but they are mistaken.

China is now a totalitarian state having come from the left, just as the USA moves

towards the same midnight hour from the right. The one most influential person

in these two merging giants is Rupert Murdoch , actively working to bring about

the perpetual wars and scurrilous partnerships of Huxley's Brave New World.

Gosh, could China's chickens be coming home to roost? Either that, or Wal*Mart is going to start building internment camps for their employees. Maybe they should worry more about FREEDOM and less about FREE TRADE.

I think you Yanks should strongly protest this brutal uncivilized behaviour by the Commies in China. After all they invaded a small sovereign nation which was no threat to them, destroyed their military, occupied the country with over-whelming military power, killed or jailed their opponents, and imposed their system by force of arms. Oh, wait a minute.

Obviously, the Chinese communists have not learned the tricks and trades of survival in this day and age in politics, especially in a democracy like ours. They should learn from Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and other politicians of this country in how to handle criticisms and remarks of all kinds, right or wrong, reasonable or not. The more they are sensitive to outside opinions, the worse their behavior becomes and the more they will be harrassed by the media. It is a vicious cycle. The freedom of speech is sometimes, just that. Loudness doesn't mean that it is always right. And all crazies have a right to express themselves.

Play nice or don't play at all...we all watch our children at the playground, we as parents do not send in the soldiers to watch...we see Tibet and you want us to watch edited broadcasts of the Olympics...

I can't understand why the Olympics are even being held in China with their outrageous treatment of their own citizens. And we shouldn't be trading with them either!
