Fox Business Ad Slams CNBC, Cramer For Bear Stearns Remarks

Jim Cramer appeared on CNN's "Reliable Sources" yesterday and (kind of) owned up to his "Bear Stearns is fine" comments just a week before the investment bank's spectacular collapse. But it may have been too late, as Fox Business — the fledgling rival of Cramer's network CNBC — bought ad space in today's New York Times and Wall Street Journal knocking both Cramer and CNBC for the comments.

The ad headlines "Famous Last Words," and quotes Cramer on Bear Stearns, concluding, "Turbulent times call for a credible network."

Thank God I'm too poor to invest; I'd be gunning for Cramer about now.

You'd have to be an absolute idiot to take financial advice from a talk show host in the first place. "you get what you pay for" (and usually less).

I never never never ever trust his opinions or Fox news.

If you listened to Cramer and kept your money in Bear Stearns would you trust him?

Nobody can account for the Market. When somebody is right, it lasts for about 10 minutes.

"Credible' + "Fox" = 2 words that should never appear together.

After what Cramer said a week ago I would say Cramer + credible should not appear together.

Simple logic tells a reasonable man that the FED spread rummers of Bear Stearns insolvency to cause a run on the investment bank so that JP Morgan could steal the company for pennies on the dolla.

Cramer made a terrible call on BS. This morning he made another. He said the worst was over, this is the bottom. This is only the beginning. No one knows where and how much of this derivative based crap is out there. Hundreds of thousands of foreclosures to come, banks failing, corporations going tits up, massive job layoffs, bailouts galore all sticking the average American with the bill. None of the causes of what has happened so far have been addressed or alleviated. These pundits are only trying to stem the bleeding. This is not even close to being over. Bank on that!

Cramer made a mistake, plain and simple. __it happens. I'd still value his opinions over anyone that appears on FBN.

Thank You, Fox Business Network for telling the American public what a fool Mr Cramer really is. Just like the other poster put it ,he's a trained monkey dancer.

So? Who is better? Are the guys on Fox's Saturday morning business block any better?

..... maybe (if everyone put blinders on) heh.

But on the other hand....
If everyone had taken Cramer's advice then BearSterns would still exist.

You care to explain that?

I normally despise Fox, but what's wrong with this? The Mad Money guy got it wrong, plain and simple. He shouldnt be such a giddy little cheerleader for rotten companies and stocks.

Precisely. The man's a loudmouth shill.

Liberal wingnuts attacking the Fox messneger - because CNBC sucks.
There's nothing wrong with fessing up to this even if means that you need to begrudgingly admit Fox business is better.

Go Fox GO.

I am not getting this. Did anyone know what this guy said? Or did the first word in the title send you all into a feeding frenzy?

Actually he saif that Bear Stearns STOCK was worthless, but that your money invested at bear in one form or another was safe. Turns out, he was actually correct, but the answer he gave was not in the context of was the stock of Bear Stearns worth anything - he was not talking about the value of Bear Stearns at all, rather about the investments they held.

Thank you both, it was a rhetorical question, followed by pointing out that the first 9 out of 10 posts had nothing to do with the substance of the article. Since most of them could not get past the first word, FOX.

Fox as a credible network? I don't think so. The credibility ship sailed out of port some time ago.

Just one more sad case of someone who did NOT read the article or understand it's content. Ready! Fire! Aim.

listen to what he actually said..he actually said the stock was worthless on Wednesday or Thursday at $35 per share. If you shorted on his remarks you would have made bank.

Notwithstanding Mr Cramer, at least CNBC broadcasts business news, unlike Neil Cavuto's efforts in which political gossip and scantily-clad pretty ladies dominate.

This has less to do with FOX being credible (because they aren't) than it does with Cramer being a self-important, loud mouthed wind-bag (no matter who signs his checks). People don't watch him for financial data and analysis (unless they are the same mouth breathers that watch FOX for, oh, any reason). People watch Cramer because it's entertaining to watch the trained monkey dance. It's an act, not news. It's that simple. If he sold his act without the histrionics, he'd be on radio. AM. At the far end of the dial. But his failings in NO WAY mean that FOX is credible. That's like saying because bears don't breathe water, that makes me a better fish.

On out of ten isn't bad. You must have been the only one of ten that actually got past the word "FOX" and read the article. I hope it isn't like that with the rest of the posters around here!
