Clinton Will Release Tax Info At Least Three Days Before PA Primary

An aide to Hillary Clinton pledged on Monday to release the senator's tax returns at least three days prior to the Pennsylvania primary.

On a conference call with reporters, Howard Wolfson offered a "categorical yes" when asked if the New York Democrat would make public this information with enough time to spare so that voters in the Keystone State could review it.

Prior to Monday, the Clinton camp had pledged that they would release the senator's tax returns which has not been made public since she and her husband left the White House in 2000, only before the Pennsylvania primary on April 20.

Several watchdog groups and Clinton critics have pressed the matter as evidence that the senator has been less than transparent about her record.

Wolfson, pivoting off his pledge to get the tax returns public three days before voters went to the polls, hit Sen. Barack Obama for not making this a "two-way street."

"We have a 20 to 1 advantage in terms of tax returns in the public record," he said. "If the Obama campaign is truly interested in disclosure they will offer their tax returns for every year that Senator Obama was in public office."

FACT CHECK: Sen. Obama Accepts Over $1 Million From Subprime Lending Industry

And the tax returns will not include even a small percentage of the money the Clintons raked in last year. That's because Bill is the bag man, and he "collects" money for his various foundations, for the private "charity" the Clintons set up where they can stash money and avoid paying taxes, for his presidential library. That's where the money is -- safely hidden away from prying eyes. Bill Clinton has never agreed to disclose any of that information, so don't expect to see anything of interest in the Clintons' "personal" tax returns.

I think you're probably correct about this. That would explain the 3 days before PA timeline. When nothing can be found in there, it'll be a boost for her just before the primary.

Yea, right the check's in the mail - I'll believe the Clinton campaign about the tax returns when we finally see them.

I'm sure that 75 of the 78 pages will be covered in black markers to prevent third parties as well...

Yea right I don"t believe it.

Is it me or are the Clintons losing credibility every time Bill, Hillary, or anyone from the campaign opens their mouth?

I don't even listen to them anymore, they come on tv , I change the channel. I can't get back even a few minutes of my life listening to them lie.

Everyone claimed that Hillary had something to hide by not releasing her first lady schedules faster, but that turned out to be one of the best documentations to support her assertions that she was an important member of the Clinton administration for 8 years. Even the republican president of judicial watch, Tom Fitton, said the trove of documents "shows she was a co-president," revealing an "extraordinary extent of meetings for an unelected official to be meeting with cabinet officials." Where were all those Obama and McCain supporters ready to jump all over her schedules and claim that she has no experience? There was a deafening silence.

Fascinating. Three days before the primary. Not enough time for people to find out about them. Very convenient. And, I am certain that the Clinton campaign will be in full attack mode at the same time, so that will diminish the tax returns even more. Why not release the tax returns and earmarks two weeks before the election? Earmarks are easy, so why not?

Hmmm....is the PA primary April 12th? Next excuse...LOL

"At least three days before the Pennsylvania primary"? Why not now? Why don't we Americans, who are asked to vote for this candidate, have the right to see the Clinton tax returns for the past eight years now? Why not? And why haven't the major newspapers and networks aggressively pursued this question. Why not? Ahhh yes, the answers to these questions abviously are blowin' in the wind, are they not?

SIGH... for weeks Clinton and her camp have stated they would have her tax returns for public view by the 15th of April. It's so obvious she's hiding - frankly, she's a disapoint to women who have worked and righteously deserve higher places professionally and politically.

I'm a bit afraid they were lost in the sniper fire they had to run from on the way to the phone to call the accountant. They are upstanding citizens w/ nothing to hide. They are waiting for a weekend so that we the people and they the press can relax while reading the NY Times over a yummy Starbucks (all of us being rich elitists) latte . You are all MEAN to think that anything underhanded is being done. The royal family is only thinking of us......excuse me I have to go eat CAKE!

No, I think the dog ate them. LOL

Great. Nothing like the Clintons being forced to do something and then acting like it was their idea.

It sounds like just another Clinton to me. She Clintons, either herself or by proxy, every time there's an announcement. Never the truth, just one Clinton after another.

I got three theories on why they are doing this when they are at http://dukwhiteyreport.blogspot.com

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:51 PM on 03/24/2008

Enough......her delays are intolerable at this point. She can call her accountant and get these out immediately. By delaying as much as she has, she has only hurt herself. Of course she's hiding things. My theory all along has been that she wanted to delay until such time as it became very clear that she would have to give up the race. And then she'd tuck them away again until the next time she ran for office. There will be missing parts until after Pennsylvania, I'm now convinced. And the library contributors? Where are they? I hope everyone realized that it took a watchdog group (I believe judicialwatch?) to demand for the release of her White House papers. Before that, the library said that it would take 1-2 years to release those papers. But it got done because the public demanded it and the other campaigns did as well. How can her supporters continue to trust her?

Good Read - Has anyone seen this? Personally, I think it is far more relative to an issue that is hitting hundreds of thousands of people today. Not sure what Bill's library has to do with anything.

I will believe it when I see it! I can understand not releasing 2007 tax records until April 15, but the previous 8 years? Come on....all you need is a copier Hilary. It 'smells' of secrecy and deceit. With the Clinton's record of conspiracy and corruption this just looks beyond suspicious when they have tried to forestall releasing them time and again.

...but she has been very busy, barely enough time to sleep. Remember? (Cleveland debate) Surely it is entirely coincidental that there will be little time to reflect upon what is in them and do the background research prior to the PA primary upon which she is banking.

SEN. CLINTON: ... And I will release my tax returns. I have consistently said that. And I will --

MR. RUSSERT: Why not now?

SEN. CLINTON: Well, I will do it as others have done it: upon becoming the nominee, or even earlier, Tim, because I have been as open as I can be.

You have -- the public has 20 years of records for me, and I have very extensive filings with the Senate where --

MR. RUSSERT: So, before next Tuesday's primary?

SEN. CLINTON: Well, I can't get it together by then, but I will certainly work to get it together. I'm a little busy right now; I hardly have time to sleep. But I will certainly work toward releasing, and we will get that done and in the public domain.

THREE DAYS TO GO OVER A TAX RETURN THAT HAS SEEN THE LIGHT OF DAY FOR HOW LONG?

VERY DIRTY!

The date keeps getting pushed back. Why not release them now?? I will believe it when I see it. And then we will see how complete it is. As it stands, she still has not provided them, so the question remains, where are your tax returns, Hillary?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:18 PM on 03/24/2008

I think that a part of the $32 million she earned in February has been given to a SUPER ACCOUNTANT to redo her tax return and cover every gray area WITH RED. Where did all that money go? Maybe it was spent to pick the bullets out of her dress or pansuit from the Bosnia trip. She will end up being exposed for covering it up....If it is real, it will show Bill's millions from outside sources and a lot of shenanigans behind it.

3 days prior to the election..and over a weekend. So.......if questions come up or what they release is redacted there really won't be time for this information to be reviewed thoroughly, will there?

If they had released this information earlier and it was on the up and up this whole issue would have been less of a distraction, wouldn't it? They are releasing EVERYTHING, right? Certainly there aren't any transparency issues here!

By the way, it is my understanding that Senator Obama has already released all of his tax records so why is Mr. Wolfson still asking for them?

On April 20th? Why not the 15th? Why not now? Why not last week? Why isn't this a bigger Obama talking point? The only reason they would be delaying is that they think it will hurt their chances in PA with low-middle income voters. What do they have to hide?

They know it will not filter into the public discussion until after the primary.

This move is both weak and telling. After all, the release of the tax records only requires about 5 minutes and xerox technology, which I know they are familiar with.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:01 PM on 03/24/2008

You're missing the point. The ONLY reason she is releasing them is because she's convinced that she has such a lead in PA that it won't make a difference to the voters there.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:29 PM on 03/24/2008

this isn't a bigger Obama talking point because he has only release ONE year of his tax returns himself. Where are all of his returns for the years he spent in the ILL state senate? Obama always uses those years to claim he has more time in elected office thanm Clinton. So, Obama, let's see your tax records for EVERY year you have been in elected office.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:34 PM on 03/24/2008

OK, how about since each of them has come to the Senate?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:34 PM on 03/24/2008

If you ask me, this is Barry's only talking point.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 04:34 PM on 03/24/2008

Why not before the Pennsylvania debate? Take away a talking point and question of criticism from the panel, plus allow the press and public some time to access and sift through the information. That would allow her to focus on how clean her record is... I guess the answer is contained within the question.

Who wants to bet they get released Saturday evening, preventing the Sunday morning shows from dissecting and by the time all questions are asked and answered, it'll be past Tuesday the 22nd. Pennsylvania voters will be informed too later, like Ohioans and NAFTA.

Did he say while he was engaged in double speak, why she doesn't just take 2 minutes to call her accountant and have him fax over her past returns for release this afternoon. Why are the Democratic primary voters still putting up with this bull shit?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:50 PM on 03/24/2008

so they'll release the bare minimum tax info over the weekend when nobody is paying attention, i sure hope the voters are grateful for this great attempt at transparency.

I suppose they will redact all of the figures and names of companies
