Clinton State Manager: Hillary North Carolina Win Would Be Great Upset In Last Ten Years

How does the Hillary Clinton campaign assess the race in North Carolina? Here's what Averell "Ace" Smith, who is running Clinton's campaign here, had to say.

Smith told Trail Mix that Barack Obama starts with a large advantage here and that if Clinton were to win on May 6, "it would probably be one of the greatest upsets, probably in the last 10 years." But Smith also said he expects North Carolina to be competitive and said the Clinton campaign will put in place "one of the biggest, deepest grassroots organizations that this state's ever seen."

The DUMBING OF AMERICA! So this is what our great nation has come to: voting for a presidential candidate based on (1) his being Black, (2) having no national experience, (3) having a hateful pastor as mentor, (3) being Afro-centric Christian, with radical Muslim brothers, and (4) associating with a whole slew of shady people like Rezko, Farrakhan, Sinclair and Ayers. Wow! Obamabots are going about their political business in total DENIAL, as if nothing of significance has been revealed about their candidate. We didn't learn anything from the Bush Jr. years? Let's put another one on training wheels for the presidency - afterall, it's only the most powerful position in the world.

I don't think she has what it takes to get the grassroots organization to a level even close to that of Obama. He's all about grassroots and has already proven that you can't beat it.

This correction from the article: "Due to incorrect information provided by the Clinton campaign, the original version of this article wrongly stated that Clinton's state director in Pennsylvania is Mary Eisenhower, granddaughter of Dwight D. Eisenhower. In fact, the campaign's state director's last name is spelt Isenhour, and she is no relation to the former president."

Says it all, once again, doesn't it? lol. How stupid do they really think voters are, fer Christ's sake!

Now it's N.C. before it was Pennsylvania, before that Ohio, Iowa, why not just admit that Billary won't quit until pigs fly, oh my I just saw one go by my window, time to pack it in Hill.

Who stated that PA will go for Hillary. Now that was a big presumption. Obama will come
through because he does not have the baggage as Hillary had for the past 35 years.
Nothing she has ever done impressed me and I was quite angry with the Clinton's over
the Vince Foster, Ron Brown Affairs, the Travelgate, Whitewater. Of course, money and
status puts you in a favorable light when it comes to law, we all should know that. But
people went to jail.

Yeah, it would be almost as great as when she won the medal of honor in Bosnia. Yeah, that's the ticket.

And they will play on the race thing, and peoples' prejudices! Disgusting Clintons!!! Make me sick!!! All Democrats of good will should repudiate them and their DIRTY TACTICS!!! They play by the official Tricky Dick, Lee Atwater, Karl Rove, and Bush Family playbook!!!

Dream on Ace. Hillary will not be elected President even if she is the nominee. Nominating Hillary would be electing John McCain. She is poison and infects everything she touches. She must have caught something from Bill and his whoring ways. All Clintonites need to remember how she is treating the African American population. Do you think we would vote for her after dragging Obama through the mud? I don't think so.

I'm in the burbs of Pa.. My friend changed his registration from Republican to Democrat and I changed from Independent to Democrat to vote for Obama. I hope it's a trend. I'm only seeing Obama signs on front lawns so far. There are more Obama ads on TV and they started before Clinton's. I think if Clinton releases her taxes before the primary and they show something fishy, things could change real fast in Pa.. She said she'd release them by April 15th so let's see what happens. I hope Obama and the press hold her feet to the fire on that.

Me, too. I live outside Pittsburgh. I changed from Independent to Democrat as did my brother. Three of my family members and several of my co-workers all registered for the first time. Even a co-worker's daughter registered (on her 18th b'day). We will all be supporting Obama.

Good News!

Keep us informed here at Huffpost. You and lee4 are more helpful

than many polls and for certain the msm.

I have enjoyed reading newspapers from PA online and have noticed

an upward trend for Obama.

At least, Pennsylvanians have more honest facts about Hillary's

"experiences" than the voters in Ohio did before their primary voting.

"the Clinton campaign will put in place 'one of the biggest, deepest grassroots organizations that this state's ever seen."

Someone should explain to this guy that "grassroots" aren't developed from the top down.

Now that race has become a serious issue for this campaign primary...I wonder how the African Amercan population would feel if EVERYONE VOTES ACCORDING TO THE COLOR OF SKIN...such has been the case primarily down south and elsewhere. If that's ok with the African / American population than this is what you may want to familiarize with this statistic:

White 73.9%
African American 12.4%
Asian 4.4%
Native American and Alaskan Native 0.8%
Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander 0.1%
Other/multiracial 8.3%
Hispanic or Latino (of any race)

(as of 2005)

Apperently it's more than exceptable to vote for color. I hear it everytime I listen to the voting results from news anchors and guest speakers on every major 24-7 news cycle.

Would the African American population be upset if everyone else votes for "color"...I hope so. Because if that't the case...the election is over in a very serious land-slide way.

exceptable or acceptable?

Oh, and you are not funny.

If I vote for a certain race in order to oppress a minority, that is evil.
If I vote for a certain race to fight oppression, that is not evil.
If I follow your recommendation, I would vote for the stupidest people on the ballot, because I would have to be stupid.

"Apperently"? "exceptable"?

That's what we're dealing with here, everyone.

This is nonsense. Yes, Obama has the support of the vast majority of black voters. And in the past, those same voters supported Bill Clinton over Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton, so stop accusing them of only caring about race. And according to your own stats, Obama couldn't be where he is without HUGE support from voters of all races.

He's winning fair and square. Get over it.

Umm...Barack Obama has gotten votes from a whole cross-section of the american population. If it was just black people he wouldnt even be where he is right now.

Apperently yo don't read very well do you...

I mentioned that the vast majority of African American voters are voting for Obama. Which can be supported by ANY REASOURCE you want to look up. Those resources are AP news articles with statistics.

I listed three stories from AP news services from South carolin, Georgia and Alabama...all discuss the majority of bloacks voting for Obama...to the tune of 75% and better.

"In Georgia, Obama polled 88% of the Black vote, in Alabama 84%, in Arkansas74%, in Tennessee 77%. In the northeast, Obama polled 82% of the Black vote in New Jersey and 74% in Connecticut".

http://www.blackstarnews.com/?c=125&a=4224

Make sense now...idiot? Maybe you should take a reading comprehension class...the premis is simply this...

The African American population is voting for color...that's it. If you want to make an argument to refute that...go a head. If the same was said about Clinton or any other white candidate...commanding that high of a % of white voters...the black community would be going nuts. And rightly so.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:59 PM on 03/26/2008

Have you looked up the voting results in South Carolin...Alabama...Georgia? Take a look at them.

Every news anchor makes it quite clear that African Americans vote for Obama. Sorry, but that seems to be the case.

ACKSON, Miss. " "Barack Obama coasted to victory in Mississippi"s Democratic primary Tuesday, latest in a string of racially polarized presidential contests across the Deep South and a final tuneup before next month"s high-stakes race with Hillary Rodham Clinton in Pennsylvania.

Obama was winning roughly 90 percent of the black vote:...

And: South Carolina:

CHICAGO (AP) " "Barack Obama would not be leading the Democratic presidential race without the enthusiasm and high turnout of black voters.
They spearheaded his comeback win in South Carolina, where Obama trounced Hillary Rodham Clinton and John Edwards with the backing of four out of every five black voters."...[that's four out of every five blacks vote for Obama]....

And:

In Georgia, Obama polled 88% of the Black vote, in Alabama 84%, in Arkansas74%, in Tennessee 77%. In the northeast, Obama polled 82% of the Black vote in New Jersey and 74% in Connecticut.
http://www.blackstarnews.com/?c=125&a=4224

Tell me those numbers are a lie.

Maybe you should read more information. That's the way it is.

Doesn't she need to win EVERY state by like over 65%? Biggest upset in over 10 years? Sorry Hill, you are not that important, nor is it gonna happen.

I don't think North Carolina is competitive.

And the photo of Hillary? She looks like a mess. She should have taken a few days vacation like Obama, to relax and get herself back together. Geez, she looks like a total mess.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 04:54 PM on 03/26/2008

That's because she and her husband are addicted to winning (among other things.) They have no real lives. She is driven, so she will do or say anything to win! She is so driven, she has let herself go! Have you ever seen an addict, in the midst of an addiction? That is her!

I will be voting in the PA primary next month. I had been pretty stuck on the fence, but Obama's Philadelphia speech made a fan of me. But what really pulls me over is Clinton's latest pandering remarks on Pastor Wright. That is what I expect from nasty GOP surrogates during the general election. I do hope that not too many of those recently registering to vote in the Democratic primary are not Republicans trying to spoil things by voting for Clinton.

WTF, are they delusional over there in Camp Clinton? The last poll I saw said that Obama was up by 21 in North Carolina.

delusional, maybe. desperate, you bet. The wagons are circled and I love the 'Little Big Horn" reference.

"If" is a hypothesis, often contrary to actual fact or anticipation. Hence the old expression "if pigs could fly." So, why didn't a reporter give ol Ace the real follow up question that stands begging......"So what's your point Ace?"

If we could get the world to sing in perfect harmony holding hands it would be the greatest accomplishment of all time....and it isn't going to happen. This didn't even desrve coverage. it is a pointless and irrellavant statement.

Would it be a bigger upset than if Obama were to win PA? Not THAT would be a nice upset.

Yes, that would certainly be a bigger upset.

But, but, but the Clinton Machine may have tricks up their sleeves? How can Bush make already plans
for more troops in Iraq, for much longer, when he knows his time is limited??? What do they know
we don't know? Conspiracies in this country means the truth is not to be known.

I have a friend in PA (Bucks County), a registered Independent who's voted for Bush both times. This time? He registered as a Democrat to vote for Obama. He's been very impressed by him, and hopes he'll be the next President. I was...really surprised. Even though it's anecdotal--just one guy--I'm hoping it turns out to be a trend. (He says there's a lot of good feelings toward Obama, not so much toward Hillary lately).I hope Pennsylvanians see through the Clinton tactics and lies and give her a resounding message. It would matter more to her in PA than anywhere else.

Let me tell you a secreat. When republicans get done with Obama you can have the fake republicans.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 06:36 PM on 03/26/2008

There are many of us Republicans who are interested in Obama. If Obama gains the nomination, he carries with him the non-partisans and us disenfranchised Republicans. If Hillary steals it, we split between staying home or voting McCain. Hillary is death for the Democrats in November and beyond. An election cannot be won without non-partisan votes and she isn't getting any.
