Because President Bush is giving a speech tomorrow on the situation in Iraq, you won't hear much about the two Republican Party fund-raisers he's doing later in the day. And that's the way the White House prefers it.

But as a sitting president, George W. Bush has no equal as a fund-raiser. Our CBS News tally shows that he has attended over 300 political fund-raisers since taking office, raising - get this - over 3/4s of a billion dollars for the GOP and its candidates.

Maybe when he's done with the Presidency he can go and raise money to pay for the War and the deficit. Apparently the Republicans have enough money. If they don't want to fight in Iraq or Afghanistan, maybe they can show their support by contributing to the costs - it would be much more patriotic than wearing their flag pins.

"Take all that you possess and give it to the poor." *** "Take thine ease, oh my soul. Eat, Drink, and be Merry!" "Thou fool, this night is thy soul required of thee." *** "For I was hungry, and you did not give Me food; thirsty, and you did not give Me drink; naked, and you did not clothe Me."

The headline is misleading. Since "raises" is an active present tense verb, I thought for a second, until the article disproved it, that someone cracked open one of the missing pallets of cash and peeled off a layer or two.

Sure Bush is funneling the missing "Billions" of tax payer dollars that have come-up missing from the Iraq war, into the GOP campaign coffers.

One billion in, three trillion out, Voodoo Economics.

If Bush and the donors supported the troops they would donate those funds to the war effort.
It would cover about three weeks.

That's great! I'm an Independent, and don't have a penny, can they kick me 10% of the money that got 'lost', there?

As our current economic situation bears out - Republicans are always throwing good money after bad.

I guess I need to stop making fun of McCain for his feeble fundraising. No money worries for him once Bush starts pulling in that GOP cash.

Even the hard core radio informed republicans I know are sick of the party - they have been betrayed and they know it. This just shows what we've been saying all along, they don't love america, not the americans like you and me, they love the rich america, the have mores. This is class warfare and they get that.

The iraq occupation is being used like one big blank check, contracts to repay all those big repuke donors. These people better hope they live forever, because they are going straight to hell when they die.

Part of the Bush strategy all along has been to funnel money to his buddies with the expectation that the money would be used to keep Republicans in power. Grover Norquist and his buddies have been an important part of this strategy as well. The underlying theme was to build an system that was self sustaining and invulnerable to the vagaries of public opnion (or for that matter public interest). It's interesting to consider Dick Cheney's indifference to opinion polls in this light as well. Who needs a dictatorship when you have rigged the electoral process with a press corps that is fundamentally dishonest and a hidden war chest of ill gotten cash to mount dirty tricks campaign? This also explains why John McCain is feeling indistructable.

The one thing that could derail this cute little game is if the public decides that Barack Obama is the real item. An honest person, relatively immune to the attraction of corruption, would send this house of cards crashing down.

So, is it a suprise that Bushie doesn't want attention called to his fund raising success? It just exposes the purpose of his cronyism. As for Bush's donor being "heroic", that label would only make sense in the way that the most sensational criminals who ever lived are heroic. I'm afraid I don't quite see it that way,

Exactly, without question. The GOP with Bush's help has also been funneling cash into the coffers of "Right wing" religious organizations throughout his Presidency, unconstitutionally may I add.

That's to say nothing of how the Bush administration has used the peoples justice department as a political branch of the GOP.

Well over 20% of citizens still approve of President Bush which makes him far more popular than any of you will ever be. Thankfully those millions of Americans along with all other truly Patriotic citizens have all made so much money investing in the wonderful economy created by President Bush that they could never hope to spend it all. Why shouldn't they donate as much as they want to President Bush and prolong his legacy as well as the hope for Freedom everlasting in America?

Make no mistake - anyone who gives money to either President Bush or any Republican is a hero and must be treated with proper respect. Winners should be treated like winners whereas anyone dumb enough to send money to the democrat party deserves to be called a loser and deserves to be treated like a loser.

President Bush is the greatest winner this century has ever seen and he deserves all the money as well as praise for being such a winner. Giving money to President Bush is like giving money for the great cause of Freedom. President Bush is a winner. Anyone who doesn't give money to President Bush is a loser. How much simpler could it be?

And they wonder why they can't raise any funds today, Bush soaked his donors for the last 8 years.
Most of his people are tapped out.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:53 PM on 03/26/2008

They can't raise funds today because even the Republicans know they're going to lose this election. You can't buy favors from a soon-to-be-dead horse.

"George W. Bush has no equal as a fund-raiser."

This statement could have either tag line attached:

1. for the Republican party.
2. for the oil, telecomm, and defense industries.

Obama is much better.

Bush has been in office for about 86 months. $760,232,500 divided by those 86 months is only about $8.84 million a month. Last month Obama raised $55, and he isn't even a president, or officially the Democratic nominee, yet.

Bush is an amateur.
