Former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman (D) was released from prison today so he can testify to the House Judiciary Committee about the controversial prosecution that led to his incarceration. In an interview shortly after his release, Siegelman singled out former White House aide Karl Rove's involvement in his case:

In a telephone interview shortly after he walked out of a federal prison in Oakdale, La., Mr. Siegelman said there had been "abuse of power" in his case, and repeatedly cited the influence of Karl Rove, the former White House political director.

The decision by the 11th Circuit only found that he could be released while he appealed because they did not believe he was a flight risk. He hasn't been cleared of the charges by a long shot. Funny how everying is castigating. The questions of law relate to alleged e-mail messages between two jurors, but nothing relating to the substance of the evidence or claims.

There's plenty of evidence to suggest that he was a corrupt public official who sought and received campaign contributions from business in exchange for influence and seats on public boards and commissions.

So, we hate connections to big business when those connections are with republicans. We CELEBRATE connections with big business when those connections are with democrats. Helpful for me to understand how that works.

Why is Karl Rove so chummy with Jeff Gannon?

If Mr Rove has done something worthy of indictment in this Siegelman case I hope the announcement of it is stalled until after the next President takes office ... so there is no pardon available for Turd Blossom.

Swell. More than half as many pendings as posts, the last one having been clocked in at 3:53 PM.
What the hell's happened to the Huffington Post? It's become an ugly shadow of its former self.

i have noticed a change too, its sad...selective/biased news reporting and what feels a lot like "censoring".

i joined because just a short while back, issues, stories and reports seemed fair and balanced.

not anymore...
(i will be surprised if this post gets published)

If Mr.Rove is guilty of what Gov. Siegelman accuses him, Mr. Rove should, but I suspect there are almost no criminal statutes on such acts, spend the remainder of his days in a place like Pelican Bay or the most dangerous state prison. I'm guessing the governor's only recourse is a civil suit. I base my assumptions on what happened in the Duke Lacrosse case.

Yeah, I think Rove is guilty. This only goes to demonstrate how throughly corrupt the rethug party really is. I ask the next president (assuming it is a democrat) to call for an in-depth investigation of the 8 Bush years and 14 years of rethug control of Congress.

Maybe Fox Fixed News Will have Karl on for some analysis regarding this issue, I'll bet Karl has some insight as to whether he had anything to do with this and we already know the answer. It is a left wing lunatic plot to get him!

Rove has already refused to testify on the Seigelman case but he did proclaim his innocence on Fox news. Surprising isn't it?

A pendelum swings both ways.
It damn sure needs to here, for the sake of justice and for the sake of what's good for this country.

I wonder who Karl Rove's lawyer will be. I hope it's Alberto Gonzales.

if they couldn't get Sieglelmean, do think they be able to get Rove.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:51 PM on 03/29/2008

no ... Alberto Gonzales is lawyering up himself ... Rove is going to be paying lawyers for the rest of his life, I suspect

It's time to debate the difference between a patriot and a traitor.
Rove and Co. have betrayed our country in so many ways, it's staggering. Impeachment might've been taken off the table, but how about incarceration for the lot??

If Rove is involved it's only because he could!

The Bush White House has made a disgrace of our judicial system. Firing Federal judges that did not do what they wanted politically.

If Rove did this then he should be prosecuted - bring him to trial after January 2009 so Bush can't pardon him.

Sue Rove for millions in damages.

Lock 'im up and we STILL get the bill, but at least he gets the company of a BIG convict named "Jake." But seriously, nobody would really miss him if he just "disappeared."

This is exactly what I would love for Rove to face, a civil trial with a lower burden of proof. The other grand fact about this whole affair is Rove can't hide behind a phony "National Security" excuse. Rove is in for the ride of his life and so are some prominent Republicans in Alabama. I hope the ones that sent Seigelman to prison get many years behind bars!

Rove needs to go to straight to jail. He planted a wiretapping device in his own office in order to try and discredit his candidates opponent. He's a crook.

Seems like Siegelman is just a Democratic Duke Cunningham.

Got good money to steer contracts to his friends. Only Duke retained some dignity and admitted his failings.

Libs just can't seem to do that. How's that cold hard cash, William Jefferson?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:05 PM on 03/29/2008

First, Siegelman was absolutely not guilty of any crime and second, not even democrats support William Jefferson or any crooked politician; they're all traitors.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:24 AM on 03/31/2008

Republicans love to say "he did it too". You can't put Jefferson in the same class as Cunningham unless you think guilty until proven innocent. Where's the conviction?
