MSNBC's Chris Matthews told his viewers Monday that the hearty round of boos that greeted President George W. Bush when he threw out the inaugural pitch at Washington D.C.'s new baseball stadium weren't a big deal, because all politicians get booed at ball games, and Bush "showed a lot of guts" throwing out the pitch.

All presidents get booed? The booing was muted on Mathews clip, by the way, not "drowned out by applause." Someone explain to Mathews the difference between "brave" and "shameless."

And if Chris Mathews still has a tingle in his pants for man love with the president, why doesn't he just put on some rouge and camp out at the White House?

You're right. What the hell is Tweety talking about, that most presidents get booed at baseball games? Most don't. There usually is some reverence for the president., but in this case, Bush doesn't deserve any reverance or respect.

Why does Bush have to get out on the mound like he is a real baseball pitcher? That's so childish. Shouldnt he just throw it from his seat like a normal office-working older guy president would do? What a dork!

Bush showed the most guts when he ran for office of the president. He HAD to know he was not qualified. Surely he did not honestly think he was the "man" for the job? He is so conceited, maybe he did, but his parents knew all too well that he was not qualified. It took guts to put himself out there, thinking he was the best and brightest. Well, look at the mess he has helped create. I would boo the loudest if I ever came near the "man"

I beg to differ: Bush showed very clearly he is not well-liked, nothing more, and is disdained by a large portion of Americans. He demonstrated while willing to throw a ball, he is completely unwilling to put his life in the same kind of jeopardy he asks of others. In short, he is the worst kind of coward. He can smirk, and parade and play flyboy, but the fact is, he is a despicable little man. And most know it.

"dispicable little man"

THREE TRUER WORDS WERE NEVER SPOKEN OF GEORGE W BUSH.

Can't ad a THING to that.

"showed a lot of guts"

More like Bush demonstrated how completely unaware he is how unwelcome his presence is. For Bush to make one more trite public appearance, considering the devastation to our state of the union under this administration and the angst of the American people, is an indication of how insignificant the people of this country are to him. Nothing will get in the way of Bush and his leisure activities...absolutely nothing. Be it bunny rabbits or baseball, Georgie is out to have a good time.

I'm sure Bush was thinking, "SO???????????????"

Proved nothing more than he is deaf, dumb and blind to the realities of the world he lives in.

We hate him--he doesn't care.

Hah! Answering questions in an open forum would take guts. This may be the first time in years he has actually heard the truth. Irresponsible journalism, Mr. Matthews. You get an 'F' today.

Hey Matthews!! If Bush has THE GUTS IT TAKES to throw out a baseball to a unfriendly crowd, then where are HIS GUTS for showing our dead soldiers coming back home from a war in the daylight for news reporters to see and where are all those Bush's GUTS at going to a dead soldier's funeral?

All he has the guts for is keeping the war Out of Sight - Out of Mind!

Yup, Bush has guts, all right. They're called Chickenhawk Guts.

Matthews shows guts every time he opens his big mouth. I learned our remote would select other channels and i haven't watched him since. He's a clot in the arteries of communication.

Does anyone else think it's weird that the audio on Matthews' clip has a much higher level of cheering than other clips that make it clear that there was A LOT of boos?

Chris Matthews is the biggest MORON on television.

He is SOOOO deeply in the Obama tank, he should just declare himself.

Chrissy is sooo desparate to be considered "cool" and "smart" that he feels that being for Obama will make him so. He heard that college kids and "educated" liberals support him so he is all over it.

Did ya see him on Ellen trying to be hip?? Pathetic. He mocked Hillary Clinton for calling Mick Jagger "disiplined and hard working" because that was not a cool enough description. Pathetic

He had some Harvard Professor on who called the 3am ad a modern "birth of a nation" for its racist overtones, and Chris agrees, cuz well, the guy is from Harvard!

Chris Matthews is pathetic.

I think Matthews is a Republican who thinks Obama has political skills, and who also dislikes the Clintons. Does anyone remember his Gore bashing in 2000? I'll never forget, just prior to Bush's Supreme Court Selection, that Matthews commandeered Lester Holt's show ('I just happened to be walking down the hall when I heard your comments...') and ridiculed Gore's concern that 'the rule of law' was being violated.

Matthews is a hack, and a thin-skinned one at that. But don't worry--regardless of who the Democratic nominee is, Chris will go with McCain in the end.

What is wrong with you people? Why can't any of you see you are throwing this election away with all this viscous high school bullshit. BEWARE no thinking adult will let you people anywhere near the whitehouse if you keep this up. Obama is already losing his crossover appeal and Mc'cain isn't. Don't just scream think about it.

Thinking adult? America?

"Senator, all the right thinking people are for you!"

Adlai Stevenson: "That's great but I need a majority."

Not he didn't show guts!!!! He had that same ignorant blank look on his face. He is to stupid to realize how many people in this country hate his guts! I have never hated anyone before in my whole life! But, he is a first with me! What he has done to this country is criminal!

Bush shows a lot of guts staying in the White House, ignoring New Orleans, sending out a $42 million letter to tell people they're getting back a measly $600, staying the course in Viet-raq, etc., etc., blah, blah, ad infinito!

AN AWOL DESERTER SHOWS GUTS AT A BASEBALL OPENING GAME...WOW! MAKES THE MAN DOESN'T IT?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:31 AM on 04/01/2008

Guts??? Bull. Showing guts would have meant he was honest with the american people about the war and it's mistakes. Throwing the first pitch at a ball game, guts? I don't think so. Maybe it takes guts for him to go out in public without prescreening the audience first -that's not guts either - that should be the norm. But, President Albatross has been pretty sheltered - he deserved what he got and then some.

It didn't take long for Matthews to "spin" this "defining moment" in the disastrous Bush administration, continuing his insipid role as apologist for Bush. The loud negative reaction of the crowd to Bush as he threw the ball was equally matched by the silence of the MSM ignoring the fact that finally a spontaneous public outrcry against seven years of corruption in the highest office in the land was seen and heard by a good portion of the general public mostly via the internet. I was waiting for Jay Leno to lend his views, but he didn't say anything. Hopefully more of the same will continue around the country as Bush avoids the majority of us to run to his selected, protected venues to talk to his "base" be it his enablers or military.

After his attempt at 'dancing' on Ellen's show, Matthews probably considers himself to have guts as well. What a loud-mouth maroon.

Bush never gets in front of a mixed audience. Whenever he does, the people who live in this country
will give him hell for what he has done to America. He deserves worse. If he had any "guts" he'd be in Iraq fighting the "romantic" war with our children.

To individuals suffering from sociopathic personalities, either praise or condemnation does not register on the emotional level. They have the appropriate "game face" for any situation. Why do Corporate Democrats and Corporate Republicans all triangulate and transmogrify themselves in that way. Is sociopathy a requirement to sell your soul like Daniel Webster. That guy is still buying powerful souls in order to impoverish the masses on all levels.

Wow. Well said. Although I did think I saw the contemptible smirk just for an instant as he was walking toward the mound?

And yeah, I agree with you - he's a sociopath.
