After all the dust has settled over the hoopla created when Barack Obama appeared on "The View," like Barbara calling the senator "sexy," Jay Leno found one more angle. Last night "The Tonight Show" host put together a clip, with orange arrows, pointing out how many times Sen. Obama tugged at his clothes while talking to the ladies.

Every time I see Obama he looks skinnier. He really needs to gain some weight...I'm worried!

Leno should count how many times he touches himself.

If you've ever had a suit tailored, you know how they will ask you if you want it to look best with your hands at your side or with your hands partly raised (the latter means that they make the sleeves longer). The same thing goes for pants length. Most public figures are photographed standing so their pants are hemmed to look like they are not dragging when standing. Sit however, and they rise up. That is where that set of the View comes in. Most talk show sets have a desk or table or low table to cover the socks showing. But the View set is intended for women to show off their legs and shoes, so even without being surrounded by female attention guys feel uncomfortable with their socks hanging out there in front of the camera.

wow, thanks for the deep assessment

Watch it again. It's clear to me that Obama sat down, saw himself in the monitor, noticed his pants were riding too high, decided he didn't want to look like Michael Jackson in 'Billie Jean' (or any MJ video ie pant cuffs three inches above ankle) and belatedly tried to fix the problem. Which of course, can't be done whilst remaining sitting. LOL. He's still got my vote.

What the? The title of this entry is outrageous.

Obama TOUCHED himself? This makes it sound like he was masturbating to The View co-hosts or something.

Please excuse the imagery I may have conjured up. I blame the writer of this entry.

If I was sitting next to Barbara Walters and she told me I was "sexy" I would be uncomfortable around her too. (We know how she works -- stay strong, Obama!)

Oh, he just wants to touch the future President of the United States like everyone else does!

I just thought it was funny. Every married man in a room full of Cougars will have a different reaction. You never know until your in that situation. We know B. Clinton would have had his pimp game working. So much for Obama being a pimp.

I just really wish one day in these 15 years now
could pass without the daily anti-clinton narrative.

If you compare the setup on the view with a typical talk show you will realize that it is indeed designed to make the guest nervous.

The view set puts the camera straight-on to the guest.

The view surrounds the guest with the questioners and tends to send questions at them from all directions.

The view does not provide any sort of a desk or even a coffee table as a psychological barrier between the guest and the camera/audience.

most talk shows have a desk ot table to put your arms on or have chairs with arms to rest your hands on.. On the View set exactly where are you supposed to put your hands except on yourself?

So partly it is being surrounded by all that gushing at close range, but also it is the intentional design of the set itself.

After looking at the footage more closely and being a man myself, who on occasion has sat in somewhat uncomfortable suit pants and has fidgeted to adjust them just so, I have come to the conclusion that it's more than likely all the local foods Barack's been eating on the campaign (Nathan's hot dogs/pizza in NYC, ribs in Texas, cheese steaks in Philly, etc,) have changed the fit of his pants. A fact he was acutely aware of while sitting in that chair with his crotch facing a studio audience of mostly women.

I'm just happy he didn't adjust his "package". lol

This merely shows how uncomfortable he was, sandwiched between those ignorant cows, none of whom voted for Obama.

I support Obama and I thought this was funny! I don't see why others here are so angry at Jay Leno. He even said how any man would be uncomfortable on that show, and it's true!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:34 PM on 04/01/2008

Yeah, his pants were too short. He's a tall guy. I thought it was cute.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:22 PM on 04/01/2008

He's hetero and still married to his first wife. What more does the 'sancity of marriage" crowd want? Or is all of their righteousness fake?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:14 PM on 04/01/2008

That was actually really funny. But the only thing is that Barbara Walters drooling over Obama was a little...awkward and that is my polite way of saying it.

The women there make it seem as though women are idiots who don't take politics seriously or won't ask him difficult questions such as how he plans to help the economy.

And they couldn't find a female Republican who looks really good and also can have an intelligent discussion to work on that show? Why does Barbara only hire women who make women look bad? Is she threatened by other women?

As usual w/ HP, it's a tabloid headline and w/ Leno it's an exaggeration for a laugh - it looked to me like one fidget it trying to settle into an uncomfortable seat with either a tight pair of pants or a bad fitting pair of skivies.

But this is something Leno wouldn't understand: the problem comes from 'having a pair'. If Leno did, he wouldn't let members of the Failure Party use his show like their own personal media outlet. I have quit watching the Tonight Show because of Leno's pandering to the Failures.

Why do you think Carson would have nothing to do with the show he put his life into?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:52 PM on 04/01/2008

Was Carson really that funny? Some people say great comedy comes from anger and that explains why Carson and Leno aren't really that funny. They don't seem that angry about anything - just rich white men who collect fancy cars.

But Letterman seems to be saying to himself "I can't believe I have to have discussions with these idiots and pretend to be interested in their shows but it pays the bills" although not as much recently.

Jay Leno is not funny

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:13 PM on 04/01/2008

I laughed. I think he should've shown clips of how many times he touched the women on the View too though, that would've been just as funny. Maybe they need to change their couch set up. It doesn't look very comfortable.

THE WAR IN IRAQ IS HAVING SERIOUS NEGATIVE EFFECTS ON OUR ECONOMY and those who voted for the war (i.e. hillary) should be to blame, in part, for the state of the US economy.

Look how the WAR IN IRAQ is affecting the US economy...

$3,000,000,000 3 billion dollars PER WEEK! That is the amount America is paying for the Iraq War PER WEEK, money that should have been used here, at home.

Add to this:

Interest. We are financing the war with borrowed money (e.g. treasuries) that carries interest; so in actuality, the war is costing the United States MORE THAN 3 billion dollars PER WEEK.

Higher oil and energy prices. Instability in Iraq is adding roughly 30 dollars per barrel as a premium.

High utility bills. Due to high oil prices, demand shifts to other sources of energy - gas, coal, etc. - and greater demand will raise the equilibrium price of all sources of energy

Our dollar is weak and getting weaker. Since we have a trade deficit and is growing in large part to the rising cost of imported oil, the value of goods and services we import exceeds the value of goods we export. Everything we buy that's made abroad will cost more, Ceteris Peribus, because the dollar is weak.

Lastly, how do you think the world views our country since the argument was made for war? The evidence was weak and circumstantial, yet we rushed into war with Iraq thanks to hillary"s authorization.

he touches his collar ev everytime

HuffPo should fire their headline writer.

The headline on the other page said Leno "Mocked" obama, and this headline says "touched himself".

And, although I don't generally like Leno, and think he kisses some serious conservative arse at times, he's generally pretty sympathetic with Obama here, making it clear that being on The View is generally an uncomfortable experience.

To me, it really looked more like Obama has a fairly tightly tailored pair of pants, which is fine for stump speeches, but not well-tailored for sitting down casually, legs crossed.

Funny video, nothing sinister about it.

What's funny is that Obama squirmed a lot more than Ron Paul did when he was on that show getting grilled for being pro-life. You'd think having to defend such a position against 4 women would make him squirm a lot. He handled it pretty well.

there is no " pro-life "...
as murder on physicists and their
terrorists bombing hospitals show.

same nose as the "libertarian" etiquette swindler?

"Touched himself" is a really strange choice of words. Who writes these headlines anyways? They're so tabloid. Funny clip though. I'd be fidgety too.

I am sure he touches himself often, since the very sight of Michelle would send any man scurrying to run away and take care of themselves elsewhere...she is one annoying wench!
HEE HEE!
