It's a classic American story: In the prime of his life, a man who parties too much and lives in the shadow of his esteemed father turns his life around. He gives up alcohol, embraces religion and finds a new purpose.

But will his desire to impress his dad and purge his personal demons put the world in danger?

Coming soon to a movie theater near you: controversial director Oliver Stone's "W," the life story of President George W. Bush, a warts-and-all portrayal.

Though the movie is scheduled for release in 2009, there is a chance that it might be pushed up to come out before the November election, say insiders.

the trademark violence of the bush regime lends itself to an animated cartoon. much like mccain reprises the animated career of mr magoo. no one- no one- could ever come as close to cheney as
cartoon legend elmer fudd does. (props grannysue... but i like elmer fudd as the cheney template- not jr.) in an animation, littlebush could just be drawn as himself and he would fit in with an elmer fudd cheney, a mr magoo mccain, and "human" rumsfeld drawn on the donald duck template.

Americans will NOT WANT TO WATCH A MOVIE ABOUT THE KILLER

CHIMP. They, also, WILL NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO BUY TICKETS.

He should make this a comedy.

Did JFK also run to please daddy-- maybe-- but once in office - he was very much on his own- an independent-- the man was brilliant in keeping his faith and daddy relationship apart from any critical decision-making--

I'll skip this one. I have survived Junior thus far and I have no desire to relive the experience.

Plus I angrily wrote off Stone years ago after he shamefullly portrayed Clay Shaw as a villain and Orleans Parish DA Jim Garrison as the hero in JFK. In fact Garrison was an amoral, opportunistic slime ball and Shaw, who was innocent, was his victim. Shaw was destroyed by the experience. And Stone was complicit in the crime; he warped the facts for dramatic effect. Unforgivable.

SCG -- I'm with you and Mari. Two hours and ten bucks to see a dysfunctional family starring a warmongering son who has ripped our CONSTITUTION?

Nahhhh; don't think it's worth a red cent.; especially when you are forced to see these ding-dongs for free on a daily basis. Well, it's not really free. They've cost us a heck of a lot more than they could ever repay or that we can ever pay for.

S'cuse me, think I'll find the loo...

Who's playing jr.'s part Elmer Fudd?

"Hard-Partying Youth"? The guy was drunk and/or on drugs until he was 40! Just how long does "youth" last in the eyes of the media?

Then, he supposedly stops, but without using the 12 Step program. So, what we're left with is an arrogant, close-minded, dry drunk who has driven our country to ruin.

Where was this movie when we could have REALLY used it? Like in 2000?...

and the sequel: "W - in prison for the rest of his days"

It's really sad when a filmmaker hits his zenith with his second movie. Platoon=gold, Wall Street=silver, Natural Born Killers/JFK=bronze. Alexander=DQ.

Just another Hollywood movie without a happy ending.

I'll wait for this to come out on disk. There's no way I'm getting to a theater hours before showtime. Neither is there any place I'll sit but the back row because everybody up front will get pelted with stuff thrown at the screen whenever the retarded codpieceboy's character appears.

Would someone please tell these Hollywood elitists that the economy is in the crapper, we can't afford gas or milk, so when we do scrap together $20 to go to the show we do not want to see politically bias or depressing movies.

These war and politics movies are bombing at the boxoffice because the people want to escape reality for a while. Make us laugh....

How in the world will he ever find someone as stupid as Bush to play his part?? I know, Forrest Gump!

OedipusTex. Sounds boring to me. Anything having to do with a man with a father identity issue that remains unsolved by age 40 is inherently dull. The first 45 years of a man's life are Freudian issues; the remainder are Jungian issues. If a man trades the bottle for religion, he has missed the boat and his life story is garbage. He has missed the mandate to know one's self - not work out your male identity issues by a groundless war. Since "W" has no insight, he is not a "tragic character," only a national and world-wide tragedy. The sooner he does the honorable thing and falls upon his own sword, the better for all, including himself. There is not but one tragic flaw but a massive lack of character and integrity. He has traded his real father for a substitute - not the Almighty above but Dick Cheney below. More unprincipled people and delusions follow in the wake.

I hope that "W's" record is enough to destroy his corrupt political party forever. This film should help. When both Michael Moore and Oliver Stone go after you, only idiots can not see the light. This election will prove how many idiots vote in the United States. If McCain wins on Bush's record on the war and the economy, our once great nation is finished.

rjean didn't you get the memo. The new brown skinned people we're suppose to hate are the "islamo-fascists" not the commies. Today the commies are the people who make everything you buy at Wal-Mart. You need to cut back on your meds. Oh, by the way Oliver Stone is a decorated combat infantry veteran (bronze star with "V" and purple heart), "W" is a chickenhawk deserter and Cheney is a five time deferment draft dodger. So the little slogan on your bumper magnet that says "support the troops", well sorry to break this to you but it's talking about Oliver Stone and not "W" or Cheney.

oddly, rjean writes one sentence and manages to repeat himself.

i;'m waiting for the sequel. you know, the one where he goes to prison, discovers islam and gives away his fortune to the families of those killed, tortured and maimed at the alter of his cohorts' (rove, etc) need to win elections.

or part three where he burns in hell

Really!
Who is the audience for this film?
Suffering through this story once isn't enough?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:03 PM on 04/01/2008

yes but this will be the revisionist version at this point, the very LAST thing i want to see dramatized is his "discovery" of jeysus. its as fake as his concern for the troops.

That's right.

Only problem for Stone is that there is no conspiracy theory, no second, or third gunman with Bush.

You just have one "not very bright" man who is able to get to the top through a mixture of dumb luck, dumb voters, with a helping hand from the supreme court.

Yep. Think Oliver should have waiting a few more years to make this.
