With basketball (and bowling) suddenly hot topics on the presidential campaign trail -- Barack Obama is even hosting a youth basketball tournament in Indiana -- check out video of Obama playing in high school:

The New York Times reported that Obama "is a wily player of pickup basketball, the version of the game with unspoken rules, no referee and lots of elbows. He has been playing since adolescence, on cracked-asphalt playgrounds and at exclusive health clubs, developing a quick offensive style, a left-handed jump shot and relationships that have extended into the political arena."

More recently, Obama took an impromptu 3-point shot...and made it. Take a look:

As funny as it is, it actually clears up the "his real name isn't Obama!?!" rumor coming from a couple of Clinton donors and hillaryis44.

Prediction: when Obama is the nominee, Rendell will say "...we know all that we need to know about Obama, the next president of these United States."

Obama is a very intriguing candidate. Great Education, Charisma, Smarts, likeable personaility, unique life story.

HOWEVER, I have serious doubts about his candidacy:

1. EXPERIENCE: only 3 years in the U.S. Senate, Hillary completed a full term before making her presidential bid, she has 8 years, double-standard HRC would have been called a carpet-bagger. Even Edwards completed a full term prior to his 2004 pres. bid. What has Obama accomplished for Illinois as a U.S. Senator?

2. RACE CARD: This upsets me the most.

a. First, with Impastor-Wright's hate sermon disparaging, slandering Hillary. Her liberal policies and stances helping those with less and the dis-enfranchised have made her an enemy to the vast right wing. So, I am completely baffled why Impastor-Wright would attack her and Obama condoned and allowed it. I know why, because Obama benefitted from Impastor-Wright's attacks. It swayed additional percentages of black vote to his column.

b. Reagan Trajectory Comment: While Impastor-Wright was helping Obama with the black vote, early in this nomination race. This was a very divisive comment against one of our great Democrat presidents-Bill Clinton. A man who grew up in the deep south, in black churches, with black friends, etc. One who appointed a very diverse administration. One who tried to reset our trajectory to what Lincoln and MLK wanted, equality, diversity, inclusiveness, something we see more of 40 years later because of folks like Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton..

FROM: abcnews.com

Bill Richardson lies. Boldfaced lied to America. I knew he was lying.

From a source with direct knowledge of Richardson's conversations with the Clintons: Richardson himself told Sen. Clinton and former President Clinton that he didn't think Obama could win, back when he was telling them earlier this year that he wouldn't endorse Obama.

"Too inexperienced," Richardson said, the source tells ABC News.

Richardson your such a liar. I saw your nose growing. How much did Obama pay you?

McCain is an old loose-cannon. Hillary is power-mad and delusional.

It will be quite different to have a President than is young and in shape, as well as smart.
Obama is the only choice that makes sense.

Thanks for this story. It obviously shows he is unqualified for the presidency and may even be a Muslim.

The guy's a natural in so many ways. I really, really like Barack Obama, more and more. Okay, it's love. (I'm a 48-year-old married man, but my wife understands when she sees little hearts float out of my head when see, read, or hear him.) He's smart, personable, cool under pressure, and gracious. The international community absolutely loves him. Congratulations, America -- we are about to make a great choice and the world is going to thank us for finally putting an intelligent, free-thinker with a smart 3-point shot in the White House.

Game time! Where are the Dr. J and Charles Barkley endorsements for him in Philly? It's the little things that boost the poll numbers.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:36 PM on 04/04/2008

Charles Barkley has already endorsed Obama. He did it in his home state of Alabama almost a year ago. But maybe he should go to Philly for him. I'm hoping that Michael Jordan will campaign for him in North Carolina. He's already donated to the campaign. Senator Obama has a lot of support from the NBA community. Donations from the owner of the Boston Celtics, Phil Jackson, Baron Davis, Kareem Abdul-Jarbbar, just to mention a few.

Interesting thing is his number was "23" and that was before Michael Jordan had it.........

I hear that is why Jordan picked his number...

"Sometimes I dream, that he is me, You've got to see that's how I dream to be. I dream I move, I dream I groove...Like Barack If I could Be Like Barack Like Barack Oh, if I could Be Like Barack.... Be Like Barack, Be Like Barack... Again I try Just need to fly For just one day if I could Be that way... I dream I move I dream I groove... Like Barack If I could Be Like Barack I wanna be, I wanna be Like Barack Oh, if I could Be Like Barack"

ABC is becoming garbage just like FoxNews.

Who are you kidding? This is news! The "gutter ball" was only played 1,000,000,000 times. This shows him to be cool under pressure, and as a woman, very hot!!!

What do you mean?

This is a positive Obama story. There is no hate speech, no one can be interpreted as being anti-American, and it's not like they can use basketball to play the race card. . .

. . .oh nevermind.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:40 AM on 04/04/2008

I mean ABC spends every day digging up past video archives of Obama trying to find something to bash him with. This story happens to be nothing. But it is also not "news".

Don't forget, ABC is the "news" outfit which had its staffers sit through days of church sermons to clip the worst soundbites out of for a video mashup.

Yesterday they were going after his smoking. I'm sure they will dig up some overdue library books next.

Note also they scrupulously avoid "vetting" John McCain, despite his colorful history of hookers, mistresses, coziness with lobbyists, racist remarks.

I completely agree with you, ABC is being downright lazy and seem to have a one track mind lately.

Why is Obama's basketball prowess any less newsworthy than Clinton crying in a coffee shop? Don't both show the human side of them? It's Friday folks, time to get a life.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:24 AM on 04/04/2008

Why is this news? If people had read his books they would know this about him. My, My, my someone is really digging to find something negative about Barack. Who needs bowling?

I think it is refreshing to know that Obama has a pretty good game and its about time we had an athletic President who has room for other interest than politics. IT MAKES HIM MORE HUMAN , WELL ROUNDED, AND LESS CRETIN LIKE, IN MY OPINION. Most of the guys who hold high office now, don't even play much golf and that is so strange to me. Were are these guys coming from anyway, they are so strange and out of the mainstream! Obama seems more like a real RED BLOODED AMERICAN than any of the rest of those Cretins who are hanging around Washington D.C.

That's because most of those men & women in Washington are ANCIENT and can"t get out of their rockers!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:32 AM on 04/04/2008

Well I'm what some folks call ANCIENT too! But I still play golf and can still throw the ball threw a hoop every now and then.. and bowl 170 every once in a while.
Yes I'm old, but what the heck, I'm still alive and vital and can run 4 or 5 miles every other day and throw a little iron around twice a week and can still kick a little butt if necessary and still make time to volunteer and also read a book a week. All these things, none of which is a big deal to me, its just a part of being a well rounded man, and not a Cretin.

Personally, I'm thrilled it's in the news. I haven't read his books and I didn't know he played basketball. I was supporting Hillary until after Super Tuesday. Not enthusiastically, however. I knew very little of Obama. The more I learned about both of them, the more I saw them and studied them, the more enthusiastic I've become about Obama. My adult children and my grandchildren were supporting him. And one daughter lives in and teaches in Hawaii where the enthusiasm is extraordinary.

I love basketball! Sports is often a common denominator among social classes, races, etc. It's valuable to see Obama in this light.

What would Hillary and Geraldine say? "Of course he can play basketball. After all, he is a black man!"

Afterward they would refuse to say there was anything wrong with saying that.

Fitness is important. And Obama is speaking about fitness quite forthrightly. He is right - it is an important variable in the health care dilemma.

Hillary could be going to the gym, jogging, etc. That's simply being a good role model. I'm her age (or a little older?) and I'm still going to the gym three times a week and running two miles several times a week. And working full time. The times, they are a-changin' - and we're going to start expecting physical fitness (and moral fitness) in our candidates and politicians. We live in a much more transparent world than my parents did. Unless you're George W. Bush, it's difficult to keep a lid on "secrets."
