Even Clinton's most energetic boosters expressed exhaustion by the call to raise more money. "I'll tell you, after a year of doing this, it's like asking me to run a half-marathon after I've run a marathon," said Mark A. Aronchick, a co-chairman of Clinton's Pennsylvania campaign, who is organizing five fundraisers over the next eight days.

Clinton, too, had a hint of resignation in her answer to reporters asking whether she is now being outspent "two to one" by Obama. "Sometimes three to one, four to one, five to one," she said with a laugh. "I'm getting used to being outspent."

Obama's immense cash flow -- he has raised more than $240 million to Clinton's $175 million -- allows him to compete as aggressively in the final primary contests as he did in the early days of the race. He is vastly outspending Clinton in Pennsylvania, with $3 million in television and radio ads, including a Spanish-language TV ad airing in the Philadelphia area, compared with an estimated $500,000 that Clinton is spending in the state, which will hold its primary on April 22.

Todays Hillary du jour is- resigned victim of circumstance. Now thatwe know how many millions Billary has in the bank, maybe she needs to give some to her own campaign. God knows she has it.

Agreed. She certainly could "pull a Romney" and spend some of their millions if she wanted.

And if not, stop complaining! IT really is very unbecoming all the whining. Does not look Presidential.

Oh my poor Billary, she's getting use to being outspent, now she's on T.V. saying, the mean old boys club are all ganging up on me, this woman is setting women's rights back to the stone age. Quit the crying honey, your not good at it and for anyone with a brain we can see that it's as fake as your marriage.

Outspent? how about that $109 mil in the bank.?

Grannysue, you can do better than the ditto heads " billary "

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:39 PM on 04/04/2008

BILLARY! Sounds like an apt name to me...and I am about as liberal and feminist as you can get. Grannysue is right: Hillary's constant victim mode is as counterproductive for feminism as it is boring.

Hill and Bill are woth 109,000,000. What is she crying about?

Clinton: "I'm getting used to being outspent"

Are also getting used to not being President?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:43 PM on 04/04/2008

Poor Hillary just doesn't get it. It's not a matter of being outspent; it's a matter of being out fundraised. Hillary's pool of donors is tiny and most of them are maxed out. They CAN'T contribute any more because they've reached the legal limit.
Obama has a massive contingent of supporters and none of them are even close to being maxed out..

Now looking at the other big story in Hillary's world of money; I wonder if she's ever going to pay all of the vendors that she's ripped off during the campaign. out of that $109 million...how much you want to bet she doesn't pay them a dime!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:03 PM on 04/04/2008

Exactly! Wait a minute... she does have the money. Why not write another check to her campaign.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:38 PM on 04/04/2008

Like others, she's having a problem paying people, herself included back.

Just a note to RT and CK.... we all know you are just here to try and get people worked up... and honestly, it is getting really boring.... If you want honest discourse... then try using the truth for a while, or saying something of substance.... anything....

Oh poor Hillary. You started out with everything, literally. You had the big bucks which you blew, you had the media crowning you, you had the Democratic establishment, the lobbies, the Republicans, the corporations, and the banks all on your side. Now what's left but to play the underdog as if Obama had had all those things in his corner when he started out?

You are putting such energy and vitriol into all this name calling. What if I were to tell you that someone already knows how this ends--and that of the three possible candidates, none will even be the final candidates. You have no idea who I am, do you? Think about it.

As an expatriot I ask.

Do you see signs for optimism?

The US is f***ed.

Of course I am bitter for my home.

My life is good, I just hate to see my country fed to the dogs.

Forgive me for I lost my lapel pin.

My head is spinning.

Time to return to the home.

The mother ship.

I hope he is different.

I doubt it.

Since FDR there has not been much of use.

Finally!

I am not alone.

America has been sold.

When?

Why ask me?

I agree FDR ....a little bit of Truman but sadly he went the military extreme route.

But FDR inherited a depression 3 yrs under way, and still he was opposed for Social Security, unemployment ins. etc. progressive taxation. Reviled and if the stories are true....a possible coup plot.

Europe had many of those reforms 30 yrs prior to that....it took a near Revolution to gain them here.

The Dem's better not run this presidential campaign on experience no matter who is the candidate.

They try that one, they are dead before they start.

SCG, I disagree with your conclusion re HST. He had a great relationship with George Marshall, but both of them were wary of the JCS, particularly that segment of command that truly wanted to continue the drive beyond Berlin and on into Moscow. His relationship with MacArthur was never good and after being tested by Mac, (who wanted to take the 8th Army north of the Yalu River into Communist China) HST fired him, thus ending his military career. Harry hardly took the military extreme route...

Well the cold war began under him, and we still have a military complex ever since, Still in Europe after 60 yrs. "the empire" view of the world.

SCG, we had a military industrial complex before HST. In those days the seeming innocent sobriquet was 'defense contractor.' General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, DuPont, and too many others to list, had contracts to build weapons or ordnance. Moreover, while the "Cold War" really started in 1944 when Cordell Hull published his plans for postwar Europe - plans that Stalin immediately rebuked (FDR was still alive at that time). That position was exacerbated at Dumbarton Oaks later that year. The term, 'cold war,' was coined during a speech by Bernard Baruch in 1947, which was during Truman's tenure, but it could easily be ascribed to Winston Churchill, DeGaulle and, certainly, Stalin himself.

LaFem, buck up! There will be Dem increases in both the House and the Senate, and a Dem in the WH. Regardless of which Dem is President we will be able to pressure them to insure that the country gets back on course and pursues sober, considered policies.

Crash can try to run on his experience. He has enough baggage to fill a moving van and enough of that will be exploited - and he will contribute himself with his distracted rambling - to insure he doesn't get within hailing distance of the WH. Republicants who think that Crash will fly are already providing a laugh track for this campaign.
