Um....Rocky Lost. And Lying Is Like Farting.

How is a lie like a fart? The only person laughing about it is the one who did it. (You can find that in the encyclopedia under, "whoever smelt it dealt it.")

If Hillary is like Rocky, as she keeps saying, then it must be because they both suffered brain damage after going too many rounds. That could be the only explanation as to why she could joke on Jay Leno about her Bosnia lie. Not incidentally, she added that in lying about taking sniper fire she merely "had a lapse." I can only assume she means a lapse in mental activity. Otherwise it would have to be one of the other big lapses: judgment, truth, and/or integrity?

"I had a lapse" is almost as laughable as last week's "I misspoke." I'm sorry, but misspeaking is what happens when you mean to say one thing but you say another by accident -- like when Bill said he "didn't have sexual relations with that woman" but really meant that he put a cigar in her vagina. Lying is when you say something you know to be false. Shameful is when you tell that lie repeatedly over many years. Shameless is when you joke about it as if it's something that just kinda happens. Like farting.

For you Clintonistas who still can't understand because you're too busy longing for the old days, as I once did, I'll use a helpful analogy from that era. Claiming you dodged sniper fire in order to give yourself street cred is kinda like when MC Hammer released a gangsta-rap album. Nobody bought it.

As for the Rocky analogy? Well, he did lose after 15 rounds to a charismatic black man. So there's that.

One word: SUPERB!

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:50 AM on 04/07/2008

Hey Michael,

I generally agree with your blog posting. I have a different take, though, on understanding shame.

Shame is about one's being. And guilt is about one's behavior.

Guilt: I must have done something wrong.
Shame: There must be something wrong with me.

Whether or not a person can feel healthy shame depends on their conscience. Character-disordered people, like sociopaths, have little to no conscience and this hinders their ability to feel healthy shame or guilt, even if they wanted to.

Lying, a manipulation tactic, is a form of covert aggression. When a person uses a manipulation tactic on other people, that person is attempting to emotionally abuse those people by distorting their perception of reality away from the truth. Most people have used manipulation tactics at some point or another, so these tactics are not only used by sociopaths. It's important to point out, though, when you observe a pattern of this mentally unhealthy behavior in a person.

So the thing to keep in mind: we are not all necessarily wired the same way.

Clinton philosophy -- if you tell a lie and no one knows its a lie, or no one can prove its a lie, then its OK. If there is a video or audio tape or a stained dress exposing the lie, then apologize. Most Democrats will forgive us because we are the Clintons. How many more years of this crap does the country want?

Just what we need ... someone who has "lapses" answering the phone at 3 a.m.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 01:41 PM on 04/06/2008

A girl with a lot of experience, she"s been around the block a few times, has a few miles on her, has some real battle scars¦oops, what's that smell? Oh, that last one was just a brain fart.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 10:46 AM on 04/06/2008

Here, excuse me. The farts messed up my English.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 06:43 PM on 04/05/2008

I'm so glad someone else noticed that too

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 03:09 PM on 04/05/2008

Is it ok to say fart in these forums?

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 01:42 PM on 04/05/2008

Apparently she's just been caught again on the pregnant woman with no insurance story.

As reported elsewhere in HuffPost, while it's true that both the woman and the baby died, the woman was not refused treatment by the hospital, and she did in fact have insurance.

This kind of crap does nothing but set back the cause of health insurance reform for the entire country. Can you imagine what Republicans would do with this if Hillary is the nominee and tries to talk about health care reform? For them it would just be more proof that our health care system is just fine as it is.

In the end Hillary's lies will not just come back to bite her, but the entire country. If this scenario sounds familiar, just Google George W. Bush.

To be fair, this wasn't a calculated lie, like most of Clinton's other lies. Neither was the Obama/Canada NAFTA flap, I think. It's simply that - out of sheer ugly desperation - the Clinton campaign seizes unthinkingly upon anything it thinks it can fling at the opposition. Very much like the poor monkey at the zoo, flinging its own feces about for the entertainment of visiting school-children.

On the other hand, there are PLENTY of calculated lies from the pant-suited cancer-upon-our-party candidate: Her opposition to NAFTA, her 35 years of "experience" (without mention of being fired for dishonesty and lack of ethics), her explanations of her 2 pro-war votes, her explanation of her Kyl-Lieberman vote, her claims of Heroism and diplomatic accomplishment overseas, etc. etc. etc.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 02:33 PM on 04/05/2008

dont be silly...she never say's anything that is'nt calculated even when she stumbles

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 01:10 AM on 04/06/2008

I agree with ChimpmasterDJ. The only reason this unvetted story is out there is because of the Bosnia Lie and the Clinton's history of challenges with truth.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 10:36 AM on 04/07/2008

They are both compulsive, chronic liars... why anyone would want more of this behavior after Bush, Clinton, Bush is very difficult to understand and seems quite irrational to elect known liars who obviously have profiteered from public office to high public office.

"Shameless is when you laugh about it, as though it is something that just happens."
Indeed!
This is the 3rd time in as many months that I have seen her do that, laugh it off, like it's a joke. It is so insultive and disgusting.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 11:58 AM on 04/05/2008

Absolutely, KG.

HRC and Bill must laugh at there ability to lie with consistency and millions remain willing to overlook it. They DO depend on the gullible.

I agree. It is as if she thinks that by making light of her lies they are transformed into humor and are no longer lies. I don't particularly like being lied to, but I truly resent being lied to a second time and insulted in this manner.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 01:11 PM on 04/05/2008

This piece is crude and distasteful.

Social standards aside, admissible only from someone of the highest moral and ethical standing. Someone who's never been swept away in their own verbalizations and embellished the absolute truth in what they're relating.

I haven't many such people in my extended life. Have you?

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 11:12 AM on 04/05/2008

I meet people who embellish stories a little bit.

Saying "I used to walk 2 miles to school" when one only walked ONE mile is an EMBELLISHMENT or exaggeration.

Lying is making up a completely phony story such as "we arrived using evasive maneuvers and had to dodge sniper fire while running to our vehicles".

Repeated lying is telling the same lie over and over on the campaign trail as Hillary has done.

Shameless lying is lies that are told to cover up your exposed lie - as Hillary has now done many times: "I misspoke, I had a lapse, I was sleep deprived", etc, etc.

Truly despicable is then making your lie into a joke on a comedy show when people were really dying in Bosnia.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 04:29 PM on 04/05/2008

Well the difference seems to be that she is running for president.

Normal people DO embellish. But there is a difference between embellishing and outright making things up.

People do not normally make things up. If they do, especially for personal gain, people DO notice and the exact same thing happens - they are labelled as habitual liars and their credibility forever takes a hit.

You seem to think this is on a par with "Uncle George's" tall fishing tales, harmless. But Uncle George is not running for president, he is running for "most entertaining tale to tell fishing cronies." There is a difference.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 01:06 PM on 04/05/2008

Yes, harmless in the long run, the same way that Obama's exaggerations are:

1. Obama claimed credit for nuclear leak legislation that never passed.
2. Obama misspoke about his being conceived because of Selma.
3. Sen. Obama took too much credit for his community organizing efforts.
4. Obama's assertion that nobody had indications Rezko was engaging in wrongdoing 'strains credulity.' "
5. Obama was forced to revise his assertion that lobbyists 'won't work in my White House.'
6. 'Selective, embellished and out-of-context quotes from newspapers pump up Obama's health plan.'
7. Sen. Obama said 'I passed a law that put Illinois on a path to universal coverage,' but Obama health care legislation merely set up a task force.
8. 'Obama¦seemed to exaggerate the legislative progress he made' on ethics reform.
9. Obama drastically overstated Kansas tornado deaths during campaign appearance.
10. From 1992 until his election to the U.S. Senate in 2004, Barack Obama claims to have served as a professor in the Law School.

see http://www.talkleft.com/story/2008/3/30/231735/348 for details.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 01:33 PM on 04/05/2008

If you would have read the post here the other day, you would have found out he was a Law Professor. What else have yo got besides your drival ? LOL Sounds like one of many Hillary voters. All you have to do is read and you will find out the truth there Geezer.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 06:17 PM on 04/05/2008

Yes, and don't forget, he "seemed to" decieve some hapless ABC reporter, who smelled cigarette smoke on him. Shockingly, Obama "may have" snuck a smoke and NOT told his campaign!

So...yes...wow. Nitpicking inconsistencies and blowing them WAY up out of proportion, which seems to be the Clinton fan's number one pasttime, is right up there with bald faced lying -FROM PREPARED STATEMENTS- 3-4 times.

You just show your own lack of objective reasoning.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 02:48 PM on 04/05/2008

Do even believe your own argument? This is the hillary anti-Obama talking points list.

I mean "Obama seemed to exaggerate"....ooooh my, what nefarious thing will obama seem to exaggerate next?

You are trying to muddy the waters around Hillary compulsive whopper telling.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 02:02 PM on 04/05/2008

My argument is that all people exaggerate.

Obama's exaggerations about Rezko, claiming legislation that never passed, being a Professor when he was only a lecturer at the U of C, etc. are no more or less nefarious than Hillary's airport apron fabrication.

Compulsive whopper telling is in the eye of the beholder, I suppose.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 02:24 PM on 04/05/2008

No sir, it is you that is lying. The University has publicly stated unequivocally that yes, in fact Obama was a Professor and taught a class and was not simply a lecturer. So who are we to believe, the university at which he taught or your desperate fallacious self?

Hillary hasn't only lied about Bosnia, her part in Ireland peace, Obama's stance on choice, and NAFTA but she also lied about her role in SCHIP. She had been publicly taking credit for legislation both Ted Kennedy and Orin Hatch worked to author and get through Congress. The woman is shameless.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 02:54 PM on 04/05/2008

Let me clarify this for you, since you seem to be an "English as a second language" student:

Exaggerate = saying you're a "professor" when your actual title is senior lecturer

Whopper = inventing a tale of heroic sniper-dodging and of opposing legislation one actually promoted

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 02:36 PM on 04/05/2008

How many times, I wonder, has that "English as a second language" shtick been used here on HuffPo to insult, in place of reasoning? And by someone with an inspiring title such as Chimpmaster DJ, no less. LOL

Go and find a cherry tree to cut down. In the greater scheme of things, this is all crap & irrelevant.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 02:55 PM on 04/05/2008

Well its not an exaggeration when the University in question releases a statement confirming that he was a professor.

Who still spreads that one when the University itslef backs up Obama on it? Is someone behind on the Clinton propaganda?

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 02:50 PM on 04/05/2008

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:21 PM on 04/05/2008

Barack Obama"s response to the recent Rev. Wright revelations was to stand before the American people and to give a speech that was hailed by almost everyone as remarkable in its contribution to racial understanding and healing in this country.

Mrs. Bill Clinton"s response to being caught out in a flagrant and repeated lie about being under sniper fire in Bosnia has been to say she misspoke, had a lapse, and then to make a pathetic joke out of it on national television.

There could not possibly be a greater contrast between the integrity of these two candidates.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 11:08 AM on 04/05/2008

This is as bad as King George making fun about the weapons of mass destruction at an elite dinner event. Every time I try to reconciliate my feelings about voting for her just to get a democrat in the white house she keeps saying thnings even more revolting.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 10:52 AM on 04/05/2008

I agree. She reminds me more of Bush with each passing day.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:28 PM on 04/05/2008

especially since she's apparently won over Limbaugh and Scaife

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 01:07 PM on 04/05/2008

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought it was odd seeing someone joke about her own lie. It's one thing to joke about a mistake or an indiscretion. But this was just a strange attempt at self-effacing humor. Now, if she had said, "Y'know Jay, I admit it, I exaggerated just a little...but what politician doesn't? Am I right?"

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 10:39 AM on 04/05/2008

"But what politician doesn't...am I right?" I STILL would have been insulted by that excuse, but it would have been better than her affect on Leno.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:02 PM on 04/05/2008

Hey Rocky,
Game over.
For the love of the Democratic Party and our Nation, BOW OUT NOW.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 10:17 AM on 04/05/2008

We have a phenominal candidate in Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton has managed to convince a lot of people that he's not worthy. She's good. I have to give her credit. Who else could smear a near perfect candidate as handily as she has? And yet with all her negativity and baggage, not to mention her lying and dirty politics, and the fact that her husband was impeached; she's still seen as a contender after losing for so long by so many points. WOW. I haven't seen this kind of political brillance since the current nit-wit president managed to convince Americans to vote for him twice. Either they are two brilliant politicians, or the American voters are idiots. Maybe a little of both I guess.
