In Eugene, Oregon, Saturday. Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, attempted to change the measure by which anyone might assess who criticized the Iraq war first, her or Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, by saying those keeping records should start in January 2005, when Obama joined the Senate. (A measure that conveniently avoids her October 2002 vote to authorize use of force against Iraq at a time that Obama was speaking out against the war.) She claimed that using that measure she criticized the war in Iraq before Obama did.

But Clinton's claim was false.

I find it sad that so many people see Hillary as the one who will save them. Too many people think she will bring back the 90's clinton years. Bill lucked out with tte dot coms and life was good while they were wildly spending. The implosion came after they left kind of like Greenspan but they left earlier becaue they had to. The 90's were before the savings and loans were found to be playing the books? I wonder how much we really got from the 90's that was good. We found out the president would lie to us on tv and do the finger wag. Hillary has voted since getting the Senate seat on Bill's tails only in ways to promote her president run. The war vote was to show us she had brass ones and would bomb people and they didn't have to be those who attacked us. She has gone all over these united states and MSM has let her tell her version of what she is for or againest depending on where she was at the time. She cried foul when they did their jobs and they backed off. I want this done and I hope it finishes the way we voted not the way is was stolen by the clinton and their threats/promises.

Are there any candidates for POTUS, be they current or historical, that have exceeded Sen. Clinton's frightening zeal, or some might say, lustful yearning, for said position?

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 07:41 PM on 04/07/2008

WHY does she do these things, WHY!?!?!? Then her camp wonders why her integrity is so badly damaged!

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 06:33 PM on 04/07/2008

Keep on vomiting hatred and lies hillary. Your constituents love it

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 09:41 AM on 04/07/2008

If you liked George W. Bush, you willl LOVE HILLARY!

Her lying, obfiscation, and historical revisionism are truly an art form. Unlike lil Georgie, who due to a severly limited intellect could not convincingly lie, Hillary is a master at the art form.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 09:07 AM on 04/07/2008

There is, however, a big flaw in her lying. While she can lie with the same sincerity that she can speak the truth, she is careless about what is easilt known by others.
Her birthdate and the date of Sir Edmund Hillary's Everest climb are known facts. Eventually somebody had to notice that lie.
Her Bosnia sniper fire story had to be refuted sometime by someone viewing the tape of her actual reception. (Those thinngs are always taped.)
And so with all too many other of her lies. A good liar not only sounds sincere but checks that his claim isn't silly or counter to commonly known facts. (Which is why, when I'm at the bar I never claim to have quarterbacked the Giants to an NFL championship.)
So, in my humble opinion, Hillary is a lousy liar. She tells too many without profit, too many easily exposed as false, and too many that sound too much like tall tales.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 09:06 AM on 04/08/2008

amen!

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 01:54 PM on 04/07/2008

I'm surprised she doesn't feel embarrassed by now with all this lying and flip-flopping.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 08:56 AM on 04/07/2008

It has has no morals. It has no shame. It has no principals.

It only has an unbridled lust for power. Anything that gets in the way gets destroyed - and that includes the people.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 09:42 AM on 04/07/2008

Is a Clinton making a false statement really news anymore? The real news headline would be "Hillary Clinton tells the truth."

One last Hurrah for bra burning feministas!!!!!!!!!!!!

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 07:26 AM on 04/07/2008

Hey - I like bra burning. It makes it easier to see a great set of nipples.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 09:43 AM on 04/07/2008

she was against the war before she voted to authorize it. sounds vaguely familiar.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 07:25 AM on 04/07/2008

I feel sorry for the future of America, if after the recent revelations about her outright lies,
this fails to resonate in her group of voters. It's as hard to ignore as a boil on the nose.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 06:40 AM on 04/07/2008

One would think so, wouldn't one? And yet, remember Jonestown? Remind you of anyone?

The Clintonistas have made it plain that they don't care what their idol says or does, it's all about winning, and it's all about the ovaries.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 07:25 AM on 04/07/2008

WOW That's a long list. Some of them I have no problem. Who gets a Presidential pardon for odometer rollback? The real question is how did all those people come to the attention of the President?

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 07:21 AM on 04/07/2008

Marc Rich's wife got the president's attention through a $500,000 bribe paid directly to the clintons

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 09:44 AM on 04/07/2008

Poor Hillary, her lies and desperation have become embarrassing to watch. What is it she still doesn't get?

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 06:29 AM on 04/07/2008

It's three 3:00am really. I am about to read the news, what new lie will HRC be caught in?

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 03:53 AM on 04/07/2008

This is another big lie, in a way even worse than Bosnia, because she lies about Obama, too. He spoke against the war to Rice, in the Senate, days before Hillary wrote her comments about it.

Of course her definition of "opposition" (it only counts once you're a senator) is absolutely absurd.

I hope this story makes it back to the top of the page. The MSM really hasn't picked it up yet, and it's an important lie--again--from Hillary. People should know. (Likewise, they should know if she sent Penn to Colombia to tell the president she had different views on trade than she expresses in the campaign).

This mis-speak on Iraq came out when she was thrown for a loop and someone in the audience asked a question off scrpit. When she hasn't rehearsed her lines the true Hillary comes out.

1. How outspoken was Obama really against the war?
Though Mr. Obama is framing his candidacy to appeal to Democrats who have long opposed the war, until recently he was not among his party"s most outspoken voices against it. He campaigned strongly against the war in his bid for the Senate in 2004, but when he arrived in Washington he waited 11 months to deliver a major speech on Iraq. And only after Mr. Obama opened a presidential exploratory committee did he introduce legislation to withdraw American combat brigades from Iraq by March 31, 2008.
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/26/us/politics/26obama.html?pagewanted=print

2. Hillary was very clear that she had very serious stipulations to be met for her vote. Here are some quotes from her floor speech.

So Mr. President, for all its appeal, a unilateral attack, while it cannot be ruled out, on the present facts is not a good option.

I believe the best course is to go to the UN for a strong resolution that scraps the 1998 restrictions on inspections and calls for complete, unlimited inspections with cooperation expected and demanded from Iraq.

A vote for it is not a vote to rush to war; it is a vote that puts awesome responsibility in the hands of our President and we say to him - use these powers wisely and as a last resort.

Clinton is still lying about opposing the war before Obama, no matter how hard the decision was for her and whatever 'stipulations' she had for her vote.

Clinton loves to say she was critical of things that she advocated.

- NAFTA...
- Iraq...

In other words she has no backbone and only after the fact does she say, whoops shouldn't have done that i guess.

(hey except, Hillary the stubborn mule still won't admit it was a mistake i hear)

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 10:08 AM on 04/07/2008

You are missing the point. The point is Obama was right about Iraq from day one. When he gave that speech he was one of only a handfull of politicians againts going into Iraq. It would have been easier for him to go along to get along. Instead he stood up for what he believe was right instead of what was politically expedient. At the time that took GUTS He also made the point that Iraq took the focus off Afghanistan.

Gee...What ever happened to Bin Ladin?

Oh Yeah!!........Nothing

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 07:28 AM on 04/07/2008

I was right from day one and have politcial experience Can I be president? Obama never had to vote for the war. As you can see from Clinton's notes, when the rubber hits the road you have to make decisions and it's tough. Obama doesn't really have a history of doing that--he chooses to vote preset, etc. I am afraid he might not be a good leader--another GW that lets others lead. Look what that got us. Rumsfeld and Cheney who ran the country and these people where not who we voted for.

I fear that Obama becomes whatever popular hip opinion is. He becomes what he thinks we want to hear. I don't know if that's what we need in a leader. I want someone who leads based on convictions. Not somone who gives commentary on history or the day, as lyrical as it may be.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 10:57 AM on 04/07/2008

Take Obama out of the equation and Clinton still got it wrong about Iraq. A vote against the war would have shown wisdom and courage. Only in few in the Senate have that courge, but they are not running for President.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 11:57 AM on 04/07/2008

No actually it was Bush administration who lied to congress claiming he had indisputable evidence of WMDs and that he was going to exhaust UN assitance.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:33 PM on 04/07/2008

When Obama gave his Oct 2002 speech, about 40% of Americans were either against using force to get rid of Saddam or had not made up their mind. About 60% were in favor of force to get rid of Saddam. And the Pew "use force" poll did not asked how many of the 60% wanted to the US to use air strikes to take out Saddam versus invading Iraq.

There is zero evidence that Obama suffered in the 1/59th of Illinois that he represented by making that speech. So, yes, Obama was bucking the national sentiment to use force to get rid of Saddam, but it was not a gutsy, risky move in his political district.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 09:06 AM on 04/07/2008

Nice bit of revisionist history there Stevie... however you MUST also admit that ANYONE who publically spoke AGAINST the Iraq invasion was ridiculed as "un-American" or un-patriotic. To say this is NOT true, is a lie.

What Obama did was indeed brave. Not withstanding that 40% of Americans were STUPID enough to go along with the BLATANT lies coming out of the Bushies. You have to square with the fact that YOU got punked by the Bushies. Don't blame Obama for being RIGHT on Iraq from the get go.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 10:52 AM on 04/07/2008

Nice counter-factual response, HowietheScreamer.

I do not have to admit that a state senator in Chicago would believe he would be paying a political price for speaking out against an possible invasion months in the future that 40% of the general public was either opposed to or undecided about.

And, sorry, I didn't get punked by the Bushies. You did, didn't you? I was right on Iraq from the get go.

On March 20, 1993, the day of the Iraq invasion, I posted to say that I did not believe we would find weapons of mass destruction, except perhaps for scattered remnants of old programs that, even if given to terrorists, would not be significantly more lethal than the explosives they already had.

The hypocrisy of the above statement, when one knew full well that troops and materiel had already been moved at stupendous expense, and in light of her subsequent vote AGAINST the Levin Amendment, which would have obligated Mr. Bush to return to Congress for a "green light" should he not secure Security Council approval, is one of the highlights of Mrs. Clinton's neo-con career, and one of the main reasons I wouldn't want her even as a letter carrier anywhere within 1,000 miles of me. That Hillary Clinton still enjoys a fairly large number of supporters is a testament to the low priority given to mental health care in this country.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 06:41 AM on 04/07/2008

I think you are making this stuff up. It's not what I've been treading on HuffPo. Hillary pushed Bush into attacking Iraq. Obama started voting agianst the war as soon as he got to the Senate unlike Hillary who has a very different voting record than Obama.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 06:32 AM on 04/07/2008

Hillary push Bush into Iraq? Haaaaaaa Ha. I appreciate that you are interested enough in this election to come to this site and post, but joeinvt--you are not using the critical thinking skills God blessed you with. Please don't lay down and be a drone and let other brain wash and band wagon you. Do you your research and study the issues. You won't embarass yourself with saying silly unsubstantiated things like that.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 11:02 AM on 04/07/2008

Well it sounds like you simplified the issue enough for your brain to be able to comprehend, but its a bit more complex than identical voting records.
