On "This Week" today, host George Stephanopolous asked Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) why neither he nor Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) has cosponsored Sen. Jim Webb's 21st Century GI Bill, which would dramatically enhance educational benefits given to soldiers.

Graham ducked the question, refusing to answer for his and McCain's notable absence on the issue. Graham would only declare, "Sign me up to sit down with Jim [Webb]" to discuss the legislation. Watch it:

Remember to let Congress know that you want this bill passed. The following site has a form to make it easy for you to send a personal message to your Representative and Senators:

Since Graham & McSame did serve in the military, we can't really call them chickenhawks.

How about duckhawks, instead?

I submit to you that anyone born before 1960 should not be in politics.
We need to take the incentives out of politics that way only selfless people would want to be in it.

I can understand why Sen. Clinton wants to be president. At $250K a speech why not?

Graham is just another REPUBLICAN CHICKENHAWK he believes, let some else do the bleeding and dying and he stand back as a big chear leader but when it comes down to helping the people that did the BLEEDING AND DYING to be given a helping hand GRAHAM only showes his true collers the back of his hand and the CORPORATE CONTROLED MEDIA is there to back him up and sing his and McCAINS PRAISES, AND you can tak that as fact for I was in VIETNAM and saw how these REPUBLICAN always treat the ones that did the BLEEDING AND DYING.

blackjack, I agree w/99.9% of your comments about Sen Mealy-mouth. One tiny correction; he is a vet. He was in the USAF and in the National Guard. This service, IMO, gave him no real understanding of the folly of Bush's war. Thank you for your own service.

He really, really sounded good with his rah-rah speech about a winning outcome in Iraq. I really wanted to believe him. Unfortunately, way too many Republicans will hear his lies and believe what they want to believe. Webb didn't do a good enough job to shut him up.

Lindsey (no I certainly am not Joe Lieberman) Graham reminds me of the creepy preacher dude in one of the lesser Poltergeist movies.

When our guards and reservists are activated and sent to war, they have all kinds of benefits on active-duty status, but should any of them get hurt and are sent out of the war zone, they are then de-activated which takes away all those benefits and probably accounts for why some are given huge bills to reimburse to state-side military hospitals. I would like further benefits to be given the reservists and guards who are activated and sent into war zones - they should all be able to keep FULL BENEFITS for the rest of their military careers! Those who are sent back to a war zone more than twice should be able to keep full benefits and be afforded the same TRICARE insurance once they leave the miitary, just like retirees get. If we're going to use our guards & reservists as regular military, I just think they need to be better cared for after their duty ends. We once had a military of a huge number of active-duty enlisted that was cut nearly in half by the Clinton administration. Either build our active duty base back up or take care of the guards & reservists better. I am 100% behind our troops! I personally think we need to give them more for what they give us!

When will the press learn that the GOP only uses our military as backdrops for their campaigns and their "Patriotic" flag pin, flag waving, tours through the country while trying to get other GOPERS elected, other then that they are just so much cannon fodder for their WARS. Lindsay you really do need to take McBush and LIE-BERMAN back over for another rug shopping tour, I mean just make sure this time you give McBush the right lines, he forgets who were fighting, who's called a truce, etc., it's getting a little embarrsing for the GOP message men.

The Republicans have a long history of consistency about Veterans: They far prefer cheap, dead heroes whose pictures they can use in their re-election campaigns.

To far too many Republicans, a living Veteran quickly transitions into "entitlement spending" once any threat to the Republican, his money, or his family is eliminated.
