Like athletes or musicians, people who practice meditation can enhance their ability to concentrate--or even lower their blood pressure. They can also cultivate compassion, according to a new study. Specifically, concentrating on the loving kindness one feels toward one's family (and expanding that to include strangers) physically affects brain regions that play a role in empathy.

As someone who was born in the fifties, the world is spinning faster today than in the past.
With 24/7 news, faster communication, faster everything, Going into that silence of meditation is so refreshing. In silence my mind can settle down and I can relax.

All I know is that I live near a "Buddhist" and she is a total bitch if my dogs bark, which upsets her serenity.

People have been practicing meditation and experiencing its benefits for thousands of years or more, but the scientists say "We don't know yet," about it. Idiots.

Yoga is to be experienced for oneself, not for looking at brain images. They will NEVER understand it like that.

Give scientists a break, they are working with technology that is many, many orders of magintude less powerful than what meditators work with. I think they are doing just fine.
