Pregnant mother-of-four Angelina Jolie, a UN ambassador, is busy in Washington DC. Last night she honored Mariane Pearl. People reports:

Angelina Jolie was radiant as she awarded her friend, journalist Mariane Pearl, with the Fern Holland Award Monday night at the Vital Voices Global Leadership Awards gala in Washington, D.C.

Jolie, who played Pearl in the film version of her book A Mighty Heart, spoke of Pearl's special gift as a mother and called her an example of "courage, hope and tolerance," reports the Washington Post.

Pearl, the wife of slain reporter Daniel Pearl, called Jolie "a sister" during her acceptance speech, and the two spent the day together, as their kids - Maddox, Pax and Adam - played.

Today she was busy at the Council on Foreign Relations, advocating education for the children of Iraq, many of whom are now refugees. Reuters Reports:

"The best way to heal children of conflict from trauma is to have them focus on their future," Jolie told the Council on Foreign Relations.

Jolie, who visited Iraq in August, and other humanitarian workers discussed how to help displaced Iraqi children regain some sense of normalcy and stability through education...

"Every child has a right to education and conflict is not a reason to ignore that," Jolie said.

The Hollywood actress has visited more than 20 humanitarian hot spots, including Iraq and Sudan's Darfur region, since becoming a good will U.N. ambassador in 2001.

The Iraq war has produced 4.5 million refugees and internally displaced people. Of those who have fled the country, about 1.5 million are now in neighboring Syria, while hundreds of thousands have relocated to Jordan and Lebanon.

And Jolie also hit up the Air and Space Museum with her two sons, Maddox and Pax. The Washington Post reports:

World-famous tabloid tots Maddox and Pax Jolie-Pitt roaming the Air and Space Museum yesterday morning, attracting throngs of photo-snapping tourists who nonetheless kept a respectful distance (maybe something to do with the security guard by their side). Maddox, 6, wore a navy blue hoodie; Pax, 4, wore an olive green jacket; asked a lot of questions as they toured Space Hall, Skylab and the WWI and WWII exhibits. The brothers came to D.C. with their mother, Angelina Jolie, who had business here with last night's Vital Voices Global Leadership Awards gala and at the Council on Foreign Relations today.

Look at Angelina, adopting kids and seemingly caring for them, serving as a humanitarian ambassador, speaking with the worlds top leaders on behalf of the hurt and disadvantaged,....

Then look at Jen, sunning on the beach, making lousy trivial movies, and getting tabloid attention.

Maybe, just maybe, Brad, who can have all the pretty faces and lovely bodies he wants, chose someone with a brain and a big heart. Makes me think well of him.

So a woman gets an award for exploiting her husband's tragic murder for every last penny and inch of publicity. What a disgusting world we live in.

This woman is a whore. Sorry, but I refuse to get on the Brangelina band wagon and kiss thier hypcritical behinds. Any woman who would knowingly go after a married man is a whore. yes, it takes two, but she knew better. The lady is such a phony, such a user, its sad. She collects kids like house pets. There are laws to prevent people from hording pets, and she needs to get told, enough. As for Marianne, I highly respect her and her late husband. Those truly were good people. Its sad, that they had to be connected to such celeb trash. I suppose like Bush, nothing is sacred to Angelina. Brad, you embarrass yourself and Mo, by hooking up with this gutter trash. You are from the show me state, you know better.

For pete's sake, its only a piece of paper. I normally can't see beautiful actresses for dust, but this woman has matured into a caring mother and humanitarian. She's not perfect, but she consistently tries to make this world a better place. Maybe all these negative comments are coming from rocket scientists who seek a cure for cancer as a hobby. Me, I'm just a regular person who only hopes she would be as generous (at any point in my life).

Sure beats a married father of two bombing innocent civilians and occupying other countries in the name of "freedom".

Hi Gris Gris, I don't have a comment at this time, just a question. My husband is going on business to New Orleans next Wed. Since you are a New Orleans gal, can you please please suggest a cool place to go to after dinner for great music? I know that there are alot of great places, but perhaps you could share some ideas?
Thanks alot!
Happy

Sure, happycat.
Try Snug Harbor on Frenchmen Street. It's one of the city's top Jazz clubs. And, just a couple of doors down from Snug is d.b.a., another nice spot. There are several good clubs right in that block of Frenchmen and they are only one block off of Esplanade Ave. which borders the French Quarter. If he has a car or doesn't mind a cab ride Uptown, Tipitina's is a big place for music in New Orleans. It's at the corner of Tchoupatoulis and Napoleon.
Tell your husband to be careful and have a good time!

I didn't realize I was in a time-warp reading your comment. Time to come out of the 50's! Jolie is a bright, intelligent, compassionate strong woman and mother. She walks the walk - leave her alone!

ahhh yes....the 50's. The beginning of the end, and era when we still believed in morals. Not laws, but rules between people about behaviour which seperates us from the other animals. You say she is intelligent, what has she done thats intelligent--make a movie--a great mother--taking her kids state to state, country to country--instead of a stable home life. Get real.

I think that as long as the kids are being brought up in a loving environment, then it shouldn't matter whether or not the parents are married. There are plenty of kids who grow up in a dysfunctional home where their parents are married to each other. Look at Susan Sarandan, Goldie Hahn and Naomi Watts. They seem to be rearing their children in happy homes, and they aren't married.

morals? you mean if angelina jolie lived the way you wish she did, she'd be "moral" in your eyes? should you decide how everyone should live, or just women? lots of unmarried men with children, you okay with that?

Still better than the married idiot in front of your computer screen!!

Will wonders never cease? A negative slam of Angelina posted on HUFFPO by "SlippingInTheDip." What's next -- we should all hope more of the same. Everyday we should all be as loving, compassionate and giving as Angelina Jolie.

What's next? How about people following that beautiful human beings example and actually acting like a human being.
