"In Al Gore's brand-new slideshow, he presents evidence that the pace of climate change may be even worse than scientists were recently predicting, and challenges us to act with a sense of 'generational mission; -- the kind of feeling that brought forth the civil rights movement -- to set it right. Gore's stirring presentation is followed by a brief Q&A in which he is asked for his verdict on the current political candidates' climate policies and on what role he himself might play in future."

"In this slide, the polar bear is on ice.

In this slide, the ice is gone and the polar bear is not on it. He is at the zoo. Because of global warming.

If anyone tells you differently they are a denier, like Hitler. No, no....put your hands down, there will be no questions. Now, let me start over. In this slide...."

Rats. I just had one word for Al, too. "Greenland." Why did they give that icy place that name?

The slick trick behind global frauding
By James Lewis

http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/04/the_slick_trick_behind_global.html

In Stalin's Russia any dissenter from the Party Line was guilty. Innocence had to be proved. It's a standard tyrant's trick. During the reign of Oliver Cromwell in England, witchhunters did not have to prove that their victims were guilty. The accused witches had to prove their innocence.

That's what Al Gore has done to science: He and his friends have flipped innocence and guilt from normal science to Stalinist science.

To keep everything in perspective:

Isn't Al Gore insane.
Doesn't everybody know this?
It cannot be argued.
Because, the debate is over!

So, stop arguing with insane people.

22 comments? Man, Gore's ship is sinking fast.

By the way, I wonder if any of his slideshow is about the current snow blanketing much of the Midwest on April 11, even cancelling the Braves-Rockies baseball game?

I would like to see Al go on over to China and tell them to 'go green' to save the planet from impending doom after China's has gotten so much of our manufacturing facilities. Al would be laughed at right off the continent.

How cute. The teeny tiny minority of idiots you refuse to believe the world is round are here giving their 'expert' opinions on things.

Well - then disprove THIS: 5000 years ago, global temperatures were up to 2 degrees celsius HOTTER than today!

http://www.climateaudit.org/?p=434

"Also investigations of researchers of the ETH Zurich on the apron of the Unteraargletschers in the upper Bernese country resulted in strongly varying temperatures in the Alps, into whose attendants the glaciers advanced at times and retreated at times. "Scientific and archaeological findings fit together outstandingly", says Suter. From climatic research, it is well-known that in Europe between the 3rd Millenium and 1750 BC, a mild climate prevailed. The average summer temperatures might have been at that time for 0.5 to two degrees higher than today. As consequence the pass was passable over the 2756 meters high Schnidejoch in the summer and represented together with that 2000 meters high Simplonpass the shortest connection between north Italy and the Bernese upper country. The large number of finds is for the Bernese experts evidence...."

Stoneage-hunters didn't drive cars and didn't burn coal. So, what did warm Earth up to 2 degrees ABOVE TODAY'S LEVEL back then - other than natural causes?

If natural causes were the only, reasonable reason for rising temperatures THEN, then it's only logical to assume, that natural causes are also the best reasonable reason for rising temperatures NOW.

Al sums it up. How do we create a sense of urgency in a media environment that constantly feeds Americans junk? It's our centrall problem. Because he's also right about the need to translate that sense of urgency into votes, so that we change the players in Washington. We can't get anything done without changing the laws and changing the policy. And that requires political will—elected officials willing to do the work.

Smart man. As usual.

Why the rage?
It astounds me when I read some of the comments.
Let me ask you all a few questions.
Why do you hate Al Gore so much?
What are you projecting of your own psychological baggage on the man?
Do you actually listen and think about what he or anyone who doesn't fit your political filters?
Why should we listen to you if you don't.
All of us Liberal, Conservative and Moderates live in a democracy that promotes the ideal that we are responsible for listening, evaluating and choosing amoug different views and then deciding and voting on who and what to support.
If all you have is rage, then you add nothing to the discussion.
How very tragic and I suspect if you had to engage in an actual - in the same room - public forum with actual people who disagree with you, that you would be incapable of moving, inspiring or causing others to consider your views.
Let us get past the culture wars and engage each other in dialouge!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:07 AM on 04/11/2008

That is exactly what Al 'the debate is over" Gore is NOT doing. Comparing skeptics of his hoax to holocost deniers and refusing to debate anyone on the issue. Forcing us, through government mandates, to buy flouresent bulbs and taxing the hell out of us in the name of the enviroment.

I "dialouge" would be great, but the left is trying to shut that down.

That's where the rage is coming from.

Cool. Al Gore has a new cartoon out.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:57 AM on 04/11/2008

Gore has miffed the chance, to make good for everything Bush has done wrong during his two terms, by skipping the race for nomination.

As president of the USA, Gore could have influenced and, managed EVERYTHING in favour of his environmental agenda POSSIBLE, with MORE momentum and, political power even IMAGINABLE.

Yet, Skipping the presidency, and concentrating on his business affairs, instead, clearly pulls the mask off Gore's environmental engagement: Al is after making money out of his "environmental" engagement - BIG money. Nothing else.

Al could have gained GAZILLIONS of iprovements for the environment, had he become president of the USA. But, instead, he chose to make GAZILLIONS of DOLLARS.

So, What counts more for Al Gore: Environment - or Dollars?

Smell, anyone?

Hey Al, the global temperature hasn't gone up since 1998 and this year it's going down.

http://www.dailytech.com/Temperature+Monitors+Report+Worldwide+Global+Cooling/article10866.htm
This means that it was hottest when he and B.J. occupied the White House. Nice work, Uncle Al.

Looks like Al "P.T. Barnum" Gore is going to have to find another scam to help sell his carbon credits.

Get over yourselves Libs, you can't change or control the climate.

Junk comment. Truth is only dangerous to absolutism. Since Al Gore is an emperor without clothes, I give a damn for environmental absolutism. SInce when are facts junk? I mean - inconvenient facts for all apologetics of a global greenhouse effect, they are. But what else?

My friend, you have unwittingly come across the underlying reason behind global warming.

A hatred of people.

Now where does that come from....

Al Gore is the biggest snake oil salesman in history. Unfortunately, it's all he can do to keep up with demand.

I want sin credits. Then I can sin all I want, buy the credits and be sin neutral. Or, better yet, travel around sinning and make a profit selling sin credits, but make a point of telling everyone that I'm sin neutral. If you have enough cash, you too can be sin neutral.

You've got to admire his entrepreneurial spirit. He does not even discuss his needing to sin less.

robbinhood1, What I can imagine is you being unhappy that you are still alive at 85 and driving a small hydrogen car made from recycled tires, plastic bags and beer cans; and you whining that some rich matron of Beverly Hills zooms around in her shiny red airscooter propelled by seaweed oil; and you really angry that trees are being replanted in rainforests so we can harvest certain bugs for vaccines and breath the oxygen they exhale to replenish our world supply; of course you are offended that influential scientists and leaders who are world travelers get to live and work in luxury residences. What is your real objection to Al Gore, and thousands of others, improving the environment? Does it mean that you will have to change your life style or sell your Exxon shares? What is it?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:41 PM on 04/10/2008

Where do you get that hydrogen for the car? The hydrogen tree or maybe hydrogen fairy?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:11 AM on 04/11/2008

Wind, tide, solar and nuclear power.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:52 AM on 04/11/2008

Hydrogen is not going to happen. No infrastructure. The existing, oil-based, energy-delivering world-wide infrastructure has an accumulated value of 10 trillion dollars. You would have to invest THE SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY, to build up an equally capable-to-deliver world-wide hydrogen-infrastructure - PLUS financing the means to PRODUCE the hydrogen, PLUS the investment to manufacture hydrogen-consuming cars, PLUS finance the replacement of the WHOLE world-wide fleet of 800 million gas-driven cars by hydrogen-consuming cars.

All-in-all, that would mean at least an aggregated 100 trillion-dollar, investment - which simply is not going to happen, as long as the other, oil-based infrastructure exists, works properly and, profitably.

Hydrogen as a means for propelling vehicles is a dead duck - THIS is an inconvenient truth.

Try "facts", Rove. Actually, the world is COOLING, there's NO EVIDENCE for ANY temperature-rise in the oceans and, as short as 5300 years ago, a. the world was up to TWO DEGREES WARMER THAN TODAY; b. this meant neither, that the sky was falling on humanity's heads, nor, that the polar-bears went extinct (because, otherwise, there would be NO polar-bears around today, any more).

Coming to c. What CAUSED planet Earth warming up, up to 2 degrees above today's level. 5300 years ago?

It positivly CANNOT have been by carbondioxide from cars and powerplants. So, by what else? Perhaps, by farting mammoths releasing a surplus of methane...? Get real! The alternating warming and cooling of the Earth is a natural cycle. The world will survive - and so will we.

Al Gore is on Apple Computer's board of directors so he could have more influence in getting the company to stop its wasteful energy practices than the average person.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:04 PM on 04/10/2008

Can you imagine the matrons of Beverly Hills or Brentwood riding a public LA County bus? Can you imagine Al Gore riding a public bus? Get real. Energy conservation is fine as long as someone else bears the burden. Mr. Gore could set a better example by selling his Tennessee compound and moving into his recently purchased San Francisco condo full time. If he needs more space for his work activities, there is lots of office space available to rent within walking distance of his condo. The condo is a lot closer to his venture capital interests on the SF Peninsula than is his compound in Tennessee. There is also train service between downtown SF and the Pensinsula and a direct train line to SF Airport. It is very energy intensive to have multiple luxury residences. And while he is at it, maybe he should visit the Walnut Creek Apple Computer store on a hot summer day. The first thing he'll notice is that they keep the front door sopen even when the temperature is 90 F outside and the air conditioning is running full blast inside. Energy conservation begins with you Mr. Gore. Set a better example.

Why should he move? His house is now fully self sustaining with solar panels and he only uses green energy.

HOW you live is more important than WHERE you live. The house we are going to be moving into will have solar panels and solar heating for the water. It's going to be about 4,500 square feet for only three of us with one of us only there part time.

We'd love to be able to put in a cistern but that will take some planning.

So this idiocy that someone has to live in a particular place for reasons that only the detractors think are reasonable is just that. Idiocy.

As for how Gore travels and the usage he makes of energy?

I'd rather he did that in trying to get corporations, and countries to cut down their waste. That would more than offset any tiny usage he has compared to coal and oil companies by a million to one.

We can sustain a green economy by cutting down the incredible amount of waste everyday.

Hell I am pretty sure that instead of starting a war of choice, that half trillion and rising, could have installed solar electricity over most of the country. THEN Watch the oil companies start crying and then lobbying to have solar panels made illegal or some such nonsense.

Congrats to you on walking the walk. Just like your cistern example, it just takes a little planning - something most people don't seem to be capable of - like combining auto trips, recycling, proper tire air etc. But Al and his grand approach are misleading many with fake "science" and scare tactics. It is causing people and governments to make poor choices and adopt irrational laws.
While we probably agree on several things, I never say the purpose of tying the $ cost of political war with environmental affairs as if it's a zero sum game. It's not and the objectives are different. Energy companies will find and support any profitable energy solution. simple economics to them is to support anything that makes money. Nothing wrong with that either.

Yes of course I now trust energy companies to do the right thing. Thank you for enlightening me. Mfffff.
