Like many women over 50, Paula Houwen was eager to vote for Hillary Clinton for president.

"I was impressed when she was first lady. She wasn't the country's trophy wife," the 56-year-old suburban Philadelphia pharmacist recalled.

Today, though, Houwen's no longer a Clinton fan.

They have to go back to a poll from April 3rd to prove their point? Everyone knows that polls are only a snapshot in time, so that is old news.

Pollster.com has a graph of all the Pennsylvania polls. It was updated yesterday (April 13):

http://www.pollster.com/08-PA-Dem-Pres-Primary.php

Hillary' 20 point lead at the beginning of this year has been declining. It has been slipping since April 3rd as well and was down to 4.1% as of yesterday.

They also looked at a recent Quinnipiac poll and saw the same decline in Hillary's support among white women which dropped by 5% among white women who did not go to college and dropped by 10% among white college educated women.

The poll used in the article may be a little stale but Hillary's declining support is still fresh.

Character matters and Obama is attempting to elevate us all to a higher level of discourse and decency.
Re: the recent "bitter" remark- I trust and believe Obama deeply understands the problems of disheartened Pennsylvanians (and others in areas across the nation) that are experiencing troubled economic losses and will follow through on his policy proposals.
We just cannot trust the "Clintons" to return to Washington and do what is right --
Character doesn't matter to Hillary-- she tries to cover a mistruth with another mistruth-- she cannot admit to being wrong-- she deflects blame to others instead of taking responsibility-- it has nothing to do with gender.
Obama tries not to engage in 'Gotcha dirty politics'-- that is comforting for many of us and his character qualities are admirable.
"Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom. Let it be our endeavor to merit the character of a just nation" (T.Jefferson)
"Men of integrity, by their existence, rekindle the belief that as a people we can live above the level of moral squalor. We need that belief; a cynical community is a corrupt community" (J.Gardner)

In just another obscene example of Washington DC business as usual--

Clinton had allowed her CHIEF strategist and advisor to represent a foreign government is support of a treaty SHE (currently) claims to oppose.

She pretended to fire the strategist when the truth was uncovered. In fact, he still works for her campaign with the sleight of hand of a title change.

Her own household has been enriched by nearly a MILLION dollars by those who are lobbying for this same treaty which SHE (currently) claims to oppose.

SO WHILE SHE SPOUTS ONE POSIITON, SHE and the PEOPLE around her are TAKING MONEY- lots and lots and LOTS of money - from the OPPOSITE POSITION.

CYNICAL, DIVISIVE, DUPLICITOUS. Hillary is busy trying to DUPE people into thinking she is on our side. BUSINESS AS USUAL, with the WORDS on our side, but the ADVANTAGE going to Hillary and cronies.

I just hope people will not be fooled again! I WON'T BE FOOLED AGAIN!

THE MATH " Monday, April 14 " One Week Before Pennsylvania

TIME: 6:00 a.m. Eastern (US)

Delegates needed to win nomination " 2,023.5 (considering status quo)
Pledged Delegates in " 2,687.0 of 3,253.0 " 82.6%

********************************************

THE MAGIC NUMBER

Here"s what we have after considering the information in the Polls section below:

Senator Obama"s Magic Number " 93 of 304 remaining superdelegates needed, or 30.6%
Senator Clinton"s Magic Number " 230 of 304 remaining superdelegates needed, or 75.7%

The Huckabee Index " 74 (or 24.3% of remaining superdelegates needed)

The "Huckabee Index" is the number of any combination of superdelegates and convention/caucus delegates that the Obama campaign needs (or the Clinton campaign loses) to make it mathematically impossible for the Clinton campaign to win the nomination, based on current delegate count and polls for upcoming contests. (Disclaimer: This is meant to poke fun at Mike Huckabee, not Hillary Clinton)

The 93 Obama needs out of the 304 should all vote for him after these primaries are over because as long as Clinton keeps pushing one step forward, she will be knocking herself 2 steps backwards with her lying and deceitful campaign. Her chickens have not all come home to roost yet. There are plenty more we know nothing about.

is it just me or is this nominating process way too complicated? it's like filling out a 1040.

It's a sin and shame that you would rather have a LIAR, CHEAT, and an unsavory character as a Clinton in our White House. That just goes to show your character and tells a lot about you as a decent human being.

It seems that Pennsylvania women are beginning to see Hillary as Molly Ivins saw her. She is definitely a DLC type of Democrat, as was her dear friend, Joe Lieberman, was before the Democrats of Connecticut woke up to him. She has been a bit less than ethical in her campaign against Obama as well. Some women must be reacting to that as well.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:25 AM on 04/14/2008

You mean to say that women like Paula Houwen are no longer supporting Hillary because Hillary is a liar, in a marriage of convenience and takes their votes for granted while talking to them in an obsequious manner.

Well the good side is that now Hillary can accurately claim that she is under fire.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:22 AM on 04/14/2008

Was a moronic statement about her marriage. How the hell would you know? Do you even have a clue? 60% of men and 47% of women have been "unfaithful" during their marriage. Careful throwing stones...and I'd change your name because you obviously do not deal in truths.

Numbers can lie. The statistics on unemployment are not computed now as they were in the past. That is due to a Bush change to cover up his bad effect on employment.

Joblessness can go up now even as 'unemployment' goes down. For example, people who have been out of work too long (so that their unemployment insurance has run out) are not considered as unemployed now!

In addition, some people now employed don't have as good a job as they had before.

ANOTHER BIASED BOGUS ARTICLE!

Democrats NEED Clinton to stay in the race. OBAMA IS UNELECTABLE IN GENERAL ELECTION. *NYT- Reuters-Obama"s Support Softens in Poll, Suggesting a Peak Has Passed.
**AP-52 % will not vote for Obama after Wright speech
***Obama drops 11 pts on electability

Mainstream media needs to stop pushing Obama down voter"s throats Where"s a true journalist? Obamas campaign pastor Wright says you don't have to wait for the afterlife for the mansion on the hilltop, To shut him up TCC is building Rev. Wright a $1 mil house on a lot that was purchased for $345,000. According to his federal income tax return Obama gave the Trinity United church $22,500 in contributions. CBS Chicago has strangely not released video they have of Obama at Trinity United Church of Christ Service with Pastor Wright. According to a Chicago Tribune article, at the Service Obama spoke to the cheering congregation and the choir sang, "Hallelujah Barack". After the service Wright and Obama sat together, laughing , talking and signing books. if ANY other candidate had this controversy swirling the footage would have found it"s way to the national and cable news networks by now! Obama who marched with Farrakhan ; Slurs Italians in Latest Magazine Wright continues his Obama supported attacks on non-blacks now slurring Italians in issue of Trumpet Newsmag. Wright states, Jesus enemies had their opinion, Jesus death on a cross was a public lynching Italian style!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:52 AM on 04/14/2008

Nobody at TCC is trying to shut Rev. Wright up, infact they're begging him to respond. And a 1.5 mil. home is a small price to pay for one that built a church, from a small congregation - to over 8,000 worshippers - and you little lying punk, Obama never marched with Farrakkhan. So when you "bitter idiots" start spiting factual statements, I'll stop calling you out for the lyin' little bitches you are. It's sad that for the last 20yrs. I've had more reason to call males that word than females - who show more nuts than many of you.

It is bad, but I've seen worse. One time Drudge did a lead on his webpage with a big photo of Hillary and I swear to God she looked totally demented. He took it off after about an hour and replaced it with one not quite as bad, I bet he got a phone call or two from her camp.
Her eyes are strange because she is strange.

I couldn't believe it - Hilary talking about how as a little girl she blew ducks' head off.

Not exactly the kind of role model we would want to raise our kids up on.

No wonder my mother, a previously strong supporter of Hilary's, has decided that she has had enough of Hilary"s lies, negativity, whinning and complaining, public beer guzzling and talk of childhood shooting adventures.

She will be voting for Obama on the 22nd.
