Carville Still Proud Of His "Judas" Line

Since James Carville compared Obama-supporting Governor Bill Richardson to Judas last month in the New York Times, he's stood by the statement, and always maintained it was in context.

On "Meet the Press" today, Carville again said the Times reporter quoted him accurately and in context. The Democratic strategist's only gripe, it seems, is that the Judas line wasn't higher in the piece.

Russert asked Carvile about the comment: "Mr. Richardson's endorsement came right around the anniversary of the day when Judas sold out for 30 pieces of silver, so I think the timing [Holy Week] is appropriate, if ironic."

MR. CARVILLE: Well, first of all, I, I, I did say that and the reporter had--I was a little disappointed, it was like "graph 7." I was expecting it to be a little higher in the story.

Actually, the Judas jibe didn't make it until graph 14! Carville may be right that the Times sort of buried the lede.

Carville is as behind on archeological findings as he is how to strategize politics. An early manuscript of the Book of Judas having been found and translated, we now know that Christ told Judas to betray him. Carville knows nothing about betrayal. That is why he is for Hillary. Flash from New Mexico: This state finished in such a dead heat that folks were recounting for days before a result was announced. In the end, Hillary won by virtually nothing. The delegates are split; she gets one extra that her margin of victory doesn't really warrant -- but they aren't letting us carve individual delegates up.

Santa Fe (Gov. RIchardson's home) and Albuquerque, our only two real cities, were solidly for Obama. Folks in the hinterlands, who tend toward Republicans, made the tiny bit of difference.

What stabbed the Clinons in the back is this pathetic campaign strategy to get the Clintons a third term. If they could clear up who is actually running for the nomination, it would go a long way to explaining why all of Bill Clinton's flunkies are now required to transfer their "loyalty" to his wife.

This campaign is being run as if the presidency is also transferable to the spouse. Hillary continues to act as if she is entitled to the nomination because she spent eight years putting up with Bill's shenanigans. We owe her!!! So, if Hillary is opposed to the trade agreement with Colombia, is Bill just ignoring her position, knowing that he will be the decider in a Hillary White House?
