I think this one was an honest mistake. We all make them and the names are kind of similar.
Here we go again! Dean Singleton, a publisher, founder of the NewsMedia newspaper group and chairman of the board of the Associated Press news agency, had a question for presidential candidate Barack Obama about his policy on Afghanistan.
"Can you imagine shifting a substantial number (of US troops from Iraq) to Afghanistan where the Taliban has been gaining strength and Obama Bin Laden is still at large?"
I thought Obama handled it well as he calmly replied, "I think that was Osama bin Laden."
Mr. Singleton clutching his head, answers: "If I did that, I'm so sorry."
Now Obama could have said, "It's OSAMA you moron." But he did not. Or he could have fired back and screamed, "Now you know why people are bitter...because of idiots like you." But he didn't.
Anyways, Arab media was entertained...

it was an honest mistake - and Obama is so good about seeing the good in people - even that woman who he's running against.
sweet
I agree with studio2054 Al Arabia is shunned by Most Arabs , they dont trust the saudi Owned Pro US AL Arabia , which tries so hard to show Progress in Iraq and how the surge is working . AL Arabia was created to cause competition to AL Jazeera , and so far it is not trusted . it is still watched by Brainwashed saudis .I personally tried to watch it , may as well watch AL Hurra .
Sounds like FOX and the other US noise stations.
See now, the man is a class act. He responds with humour to a slip of the tongue, an awkward moment, rather than diving off the deep end.
This week we have had him called "boy" at a Republican 'private' conference, "elitist", and now this... yet he maintains the high ground and forges ahead. Wish his opponenents has as much class as that... or would that be too 'elitist' of them?
What candidate in living memory has had to put up with as much guff, intentional or accidental, from so many quarters for so long? I cannot think of another. Yet he can still laugh it off... so should we.
this is why i love the man.

Well said.
If anyone believes that this was really a mistake...they are insane. This is just the start of the Republican attacks. This is just more blatant racism. They want to try and provoke Obama but his confidence is something they cannot possibly understand.... and it dismays these idiots.
I watched the Associated Press conference on C-Span. When Obama made the correction, Singelton really sounded sorry and embaressed.
It was a mistake, nothing more. And before people start ragging on me, I adore Obama, that's why I was watching the event.
He laughs at the guy, the crowd laughs with him at the guy, then he takes a drink of the guy's water. Priceless.
Obama is amazing.
wait. that was the other dude's water? i thought it was barack's. wow, thats even better. i couldnt love barack more. lol. wow. classic.

No matter what they hurl at him, he turns it into flowers.
Don't be fooled people. This was a foolish planned mistake by the republican corp "ELITE" media owners who are against Obama for President. What they failed to realize is that their action only reinforces the negative image of American's in the world, especially white men in power. Once this video is viewed by many in the world it confirm's the perception that white men in power are not very smart (stupid) and will do anything to maintain their profit and power, even if it means insulting and attacking a man that is perceived to be like many in the world.
Very sad how the republicans have not only destroyed our country, but continue to destroy the American image in the world with their actions and words.
I disagree that it was a planned mistake. The reporter was really nervous and flubbed it. I did the same thing a few weeks ago at a gathering and I am a huge Obama fan.
The way Obama handled it is a testimony to his graciousness and maturity. I am so impressed with him every time I see him respond to questions.
I look forward to McCain vs. Obama debates.
They miscalculate. Americans are sick of the GOP and their Rove styled politics.
I hope they throw more awkward situations at Obama because he is a star at handling them.
Yup. They do it to keep the meme out there, and they don't care how transparent it is. Obama's responses have been stellar. I am no true believer of any politician, but Barack has class not seen in decades in U.S. public life.
If the US election were held worldwide, with Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America included, Barack Obama would win by a MASSIVE landslide.
if the Chinese controlled the polling places in their own country, I'm betting that Hu would win.
Class is a bit abstract to define. I guess it can only be shown. And this is it.
Only a few goobers in the Arab world don't appreciate the depth of our ignorance about them or the extent of our prejudice against them.
Barack has so much class! I love him & Michelle! He's going to make a great president! And he's just too cool!
Haha! If this was intentional, which I doubt as he seemed nervous, it did not work as Obama came across very well with his good humoured response.
I do notice that Fox news always seems to be trying to connect Obama with Osama in the viewers mind.
...the same way that each time a Republican public figure got into to trouble in the past few years, they labeled them Democrat.
Damn! They sure do treat their viewers as if they are dumb, don't they?!
They do that?!! I don't have fox news where I live, but I see all the stuff on youtube and these people are crazy!
Hilarious. Poor guy, his apology was touching. Barack... was Barack. 'Elitism' should be taught.
Wow, Obama can't be that bad can he?. Please, can you leave him alone Mr. Obama supporter on stage. Your screwing him up with all that love for him. How dare you!
I love that my next president is so smart and witty.
And even-tempered. And thoughtful. It will be wonderful to have intelligence inthe White House - and I mean both Barack and Michelle.
KOODOES TO YOU, I AGREE!!!
Not fair to call the fellow an idiot cause he misspoke-- and immediately apologized. Am a huge obama supporter. Don't think the ad hominems are fair.
I agree with you. Hell, Teddy Kennedy did it. It can be a tongue tripper, one of those that you are saying to yourself "don't screw up" and of course you do. No malice intended, none taken.
Given that Obama just got off a misspoken adventure of his own with a non apology apology and an attack on Hillary for saying something about it. Yup. He's a charmer.
Hillary swinging her big hammer around at gaffs has knee capped herself..this is too funny. I supported her in early days as fond memories of bills term....but she has shown much contempt for thoseamericans who are paying attention,
You can fool some of the people all of the time or all of the people some of the time, but few people are so forgiving as to forget!!
All Hillary does is attack. It's sickening. I have lost all respect for the Clintons at this point. It's very sad.
VOTE OBAMA!!
why should Hillary stop attacking she is being attacked,so what is good for the goose is good for the gander,Obama is to smooth and I am afraid his rise to the top was well planned and there is a hidden adgenda, wise up fools before the USA becomes just another welfare country
He didn't attack Hillary for saying something....he did a NICE ad about her
contributions from Big business, her work for NAFTA, and her own statement at a debate defending her contributions from lobbiests because they represent 'average people'...... a shot of a gas pump with the prices hovering near $4 a gallon, and a prescription bottle with pharmaceuticals costing more every day.
I guess the heads of big Pharma are people.... yes? Exxon CEO's with their $90 million dollar parachutes and their $40 billion in profits per quarter are just ordinary people... eh?
Interesting. Obama "attacks" Clinton.
But Clinton is just "saying something". Of course she wasn't attacking him.
I think Obama prefers to be called an elitist to that one.
I think the next think is weird Al Yankovic doing a set of songs where he replaces Obama for words that rhyme with it. "Oh, Donna" by Richie Valenze would be a good one to start.
Wow, what will it be like to have a President who is intelligent, capable, personifies grace under pressure and has a great sense of humor. Oh, and did I mention class act?
dont forget snob
