Cheney Jokes About Obama, Clinton, Olbermann And Gore At Press Correspondents' Dinner

Vice President Dick Cheney paid a visit to the Radio & Television Correspondents' Dinner In Washington D.C. on Wednesday, and decided to let loose with a barrage of jokes about his demeanor (insert Darth Vader jokes), his relationship with the media, and the Pope's current voyage in America. Before introducing comedian Mo Rocca, the Vice President also weighed in on the 2008 elections, and some current mini-controversies.

For example, I keep telling him it's time to start thinking about a choice for Vice President. He says he'll find a running mate just as soon as he's got himself a new pastor. I guess my cousin Barack has sat through some mighty riveting sermons over the years. If he gets elected, you're not going to want to miss those Washington prayer breakfasts."

I spent the morning with one infallible authority, and now I get to spend the evening with a thousand of them. I was glad to talk to the Pope. The Correspondents' Dinner is obviously a tough room to work for Republican politicians, but Cheney did his usual fine job at warming the hearts of America's most cynical crowd. You have to admit that Darth is good -- decent timing, strong presence and presentation, and an overwhelming image of comforting sincerity.

You gotta love him. He is the model of the modern American VP, and he'll be missed.

Wouldn't it have been grand if all of the correspondants - the American ones, at least - had gotten up and walked out when Cheney came onstage?

I can think of two reasons for American journalists to do that: First, as Americans they are allowed to express themselves.

Secondly, as journalists they should know that Cheney just doesn't say anything that can be believed, and so he is a horrible source for a story.

KBR-Halliburton was supposed to equip our troops with body armor, yet there were delays getting the body armor to our troops, and now that the equipment is there, they report it's untested, and don't know if they'll adequately protect our troops who rely upon the equipment. The delays of getting any of this protective equipment has cost nearly 1,000 soldiers their lives, according to the Marines.
I think what's worse, is that this exposes how corrupt and greedy our MSM has become.

That the press still court him, pay him to speak at their gatherings, or don't castigate, much less investigate his actions is what's most appaulling.

The guys is a murderer and need to be prosecuted. He has over 4000 American soldier's blood and over 50000 Iraqis blood in his hand and is the most Evil person in our history of Government.
