A federal magistrate judge denied a request to subpoena Vice President Dick Cheney in a lawsuit filed by a man, Steven Howards, who claims he was wrongfully arrested for comments he made to Mr. Cheney about the Iraq war. A lawyer for Mr. Howards, David Lane, had argued that Secret Service agents involved in Mr. Howards's arrest in Beaver Creek in June 2006 told different versions of the episode and that only Mr. Cheney could clear up what happened. But the judge, Craig Shaffer of Federal District Court, said Mr. Lane had "not made a sufficient showing to warrant a deposition."

Judge or no judge - Cheney would have never shown up.

Because he is a coward who believes himself to be above the law.. as a matter of fact, I think he believes that he IS the law.

Defense Attorneys please take note and use this precedence, for no one gets special treatment in our system of justice.

Good ruling by the judge.

The story is about the incident of Cheney taking a little well-deserved time off and getting in some skiing. He is approached on the slopes by a moonbat who asks aggressive questions and attempts to debate and argue. Finally the moonbat grabs Cheney by the shoulder and the Secret Service has to step in and sort it out. The bat (who was not smacked, tased or made 'king for a day') gets charged with something, charges later dropped. Naturally the bat sues.

Crap ruling. Goes to key element of the charge at bar. If the witness cannot be produced to substantiate the claim or other evidence produced, charges should be dropped with prejudice. And next time you want to defend your fascist leader, think twice. The only well-deserved thing in his future is a treason trial and the only well deserved thing missing from his past is a swift kick in the ass. Careful who you back. Some of the bats may get you too when the time comes to take the government back the hard way.

You're right about "key element", which is why all charges against the moonbat were dropped and why your legal argument has no relevance in the judge's correct decision to deny the ridiculously showboating subpoena attempt on the VP.

BTW, I was wrong about 'ski slopes'. The confrontation happened in a mall.

And to address your other points:
* Cheney will not be tried for treason.
* You will not "take the government back the hard way."
* Threatening me with violence is inappropriate and makes you look silly.

Well you know all of us have trouble keeping the "slopes" and "the mall" separated in our minds. In yours and Cheney's case probably because both of you think you are big moguls but are just going down hill all the way. Are you sure it wasn't out at the "huntin shack" or the "emergency room getting buckshot picked out of someone's face" or maybe at a "secret energy planning meeting?"

You're so wrong Ramirez. Cheney will go down, we will have to take our government back the hard way, and moonbats are the only ones who realize just exactly what is going on. I have to ask you one question but I never banter with fellow posters so just answer to yourself. Do you really think our President, the Federal Reserve, and all the others responsible for the state of America, are that stupid as to drive us to the point that we are at? Is this stupidity or deliberate? The moonbats pick the latter.

Abuse of privilege? From Chickenhawk Cheney? Shocking. Ask Harry Whittington how that works. Cheney should be in prison for his coverup of FuneralGate alone.

Are you suggesting that the Vice President of the United States should have to testify as if he was some common criminal ??

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:23 PM on 04/17/2008

No.. he should have to testify just like any other citizen of the country.... just because he feels himself to be above the law does not make him so.

how dare you... he's not a common criminal... his criminality is quite uncommon and on the grandest of scales.
