Terrorists are still operating freely in Pakistan along the country's Afghanistan border, despite the U.S. giving Pakistan more than $10.5 billion in military and economic aid, according to a government watchdog agency.

The Government Accountability Office says in a report released Thursday that the U.S. lacks a comprehensive plan to deal with the terrorist threat.

Rog are you restarted or do just listen to Sean Hannity to much. If their are terrorists here, George Bush and Michael Chertoff who runs HLS aren't doing and thing about it, except violating your civil rights to push Cheney"s BS unitary executive theories. If you do watch Lou Dobbs than your aware that Bush wants to build a NAFTA supper highway, so Mexican trucks can enter the US unenspected. They have already ignored bipartisan opposition in Congress and formed a pilot program that they are funding with slush funds. Bush doesn"t care about terroristism on US soil; he is more interested in making his corporate friends happy by destroying labor unions like the Teamsters. My dad was a Teamster and a war vet; I would want a guy like him delivering Wal-Mart"s Chinese merchandise than some guy from Mexico. Chertoff, director of HLS is from my hometown; I know the Synagogue his father was a Rabbi at. He went to a nerdy private prep school a mile from my home and we used to kick their butt in basketball every year. Barbara Boxer voted against Chertoff"s nomination because he is former judge, who never ran a large organization in is whole life, and the incompetence of HLS reflects it. These guys do not make me feel safe at all. Take HLS and dissolve it, it"s larger than the FBI and can"t get out of it"s own way, just another big government money pit.

is this "smoke 'em out" or "dead or alive"???? maybe it has something to do with "those who did this will never rest" or... President Bush at U.N.: "A few miles from here, many thousands still lie in a tomb of rubble.....History will record our response and judge or justify every nation in this hall."

maybe it's the honor and dignity?

maybe they needed to out more cia agents?

maybe they spent too much time spying on their political foes rather than the real foes?

maybe they... belong in prison???

WHO KNEW?

It's not like Osama and Al Qaeda have been in Pakistan for the past 5 years or anything, right?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:08 PM on 04/17/2008

They are no terrorists: They are Minutemen, Resistance, White Russians - they are defenders of their home country, who want to drive out a foreign, aggressive oppressor and live their own life under their own rules and - rulers.

Calling them names desn't make them the bad guys - as littleas it makes the US- and NATO-forces the good guys, either.

Terrorism CANNOT be fought with the military. "Fighting" terrorism is a duty of the customs, of the police force, perhaps of intelligence agencies, too. But trying to fight terrorists with troops, is like trying to fight Ants with a tank; while you think, you are in control of the situation, the Ants sneak into your tank and bite your ass.

The only way to avoid any painfull encounter with ants is - to avoid their ant-hill. And that's, what Afghanistan, Pakistan and, Iraq - let alone IRAN - are for our military: Tjey are ant-hills full of angy ants, which will continie to bite, until we leave.

MOST important part of the GAO Report [GAO-08-622]:
Al Qaeda in the FATA region of Pakistan is NOW putting together the FINAL touches on attacks on the US and Bush has done NOTHING to stop it!
Does this remind you of the famous incident of Richard Clarke pratically screaming at Bush that an attack by Al Qaeda is Imminent, just before 9/11, and Bush's response, "OK, you've covered your ass now"? Bush's gross neglect of duty to protect America AGAIN should be regarded as treason, don't you think? Just remember this when the next terrorist attack occurs and Bush blames it on Dems or someone else, as usual.

"...despite the U.S. giving Pakistan more than $10.5 billion in military and economic aid,..."
Let us take a trip down memory lane...
Why did Bill Clinton give Pakistan $3,000,000,000.00 a year, forever.
I thought it was a payoff to stop Pakistan from developing nuclear weapons.
And, the second thing W did as president (the first thing was investigating the corrupt Clinton Administration) was bust Pakistan's A. Q. Khan for nuclear weapons proliferation.

Isn't this the reason Obama wants war with Pakistan.

Very interesting. Bush has no plan for Pakistan,he's an idiot. He has a plan,he's a war monger. What exactly is the liberal position on combating terrorists? Or are there no terrorist except Bush?

If you don't understand the scam GWOT (aka PNAC) by now you never will - your great leader is a real live war criminal and doesn't give a rats ass about al Qaeda or terrorists for that matter - dolt.

Oh please. You know perfectly well what our position is. What you choose to do is distort things to make it look like poor Georgie cannot get it right with us.

What the majority of liberals have been advocating from the start is to go after those responsible for attacking us on 9/11. NOT Iraq. NOT Iran. The plan should have been to contain and capture al Qaeda in Afganistan and destroy the Taliban there. If they escaped, and they did, we should have JOINTLY gone into Pakistan with the help of the Pakistani government and taken al Qaeda and OBL out there.

What happened was that the current administration did the stupidest thing possible--they opened a second front and invaded a country that was 1. contained, 2. no threat to the US, and 3. Didn't have anything to do with 9/11. We completely forgot about the Taliban and OBL/al Qaeda which has come back to bite us on the ass as that now the Taliban is resurgent in Afganistan and OBL/al Qaeda is alive and stronger than ever.

NOw THAT is what liberals advocate. THAT is why we decry an inept administration made up of incompetents and THAT is why we oppose the current administration doing ANYTHING other than bringing the troops out of Iraq. They, and anyone who backs them, cannot and should not be trusted to take out the garbage.

Once again the loony leftist crowd and their enablers in our own government are dead wrong.

The US has no plan to fight the terrorists in Pakistan?

BS!

We are fighting them in Iraq so we don't have to fight them in Pakistan.

Just like we're fighting the Taliban in Iraq and not Afghanistan.

I wish more people out there paid closer attention to the wisdom dispensed by our Dear Leader.

Brilliant sarcasm, Rog. You're right, the regressives totally shot themselves in the foot! Boy, you couldn't have nailed it any better! Good job!

As Rog points out, the Republicants intentionally pulled the troops in Afghanistan and redirected them to Iraq in order to aggrandize Halliburton, KBR, Bechtel, Blackwater and so many others. And Rog's suggestion that the Republicants DID have a plan - to pillage the US funds in Iraq to the tune of $12 BILLION dollars - was so good it almost didn't get caught by MSM. But what really impressed me, Rog, was your acknowledgement that the entire episode in Iraq has been a RUSE so that the GOP can continue operations that have, to date, put more than $100 BILLION into GOP operatives' pockets!

I'd be AFRAID to make such harsh statements, so I appreciate your stepping forward to point the fingers where they belong - at the GOP!

Thanks again, old buddy!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:25 PM on 04/17/2008

Well, you may think it's sarcasm, but did you notice that when we pulled out troops from Afghanistan to Iraq, the terrorists started attacking us in Iraq.

They followed us to our new "home".

But, if we pull out of Iraq, then they will follow us to the USA.

Then even Lou Dobbs won't be able to save us.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:47 PM on 04/17/2008

They didn't follow us to our new home. WE spread them to another country like a disease. They are now in BOTH Afganistan and Iraq and have even spread to Pakistan.

They can spread to the US right now. It's just so much easier to walk out your figurative front door and shoot at a US soldier than go all the way to the US to do it. Typhoid Mary infected those around her, not those several miles away.

Fighting terrorism doesn't require surgery (military might, to continue the medical metaphor), it requires rest and medicine (good intelligence and police work) like the European countries do and have done for years.

Actually, my own theory about the invasion of Iraq sees something other than enrichment of Halliburton as the major motive.

Anyways, you are right to be afraid.

Be very afraid.

But also be prepared. I have a plastic sheet under the mattress pad on my bed.

Terrorists didn't attack us in Iraq. The IRAQIS attacked us in Iraq. Why? Because we INVADED. Less than 5% of the antagonists in the field in Iraq are associated with Al Qaeda and the 'terrorists' to which you falsely allude are, in fact, Shia or Sunni Iraqi nationals. (If you think that the Sunnis, having been paid with US tax dollars, are not belligerent toward the US presence, then you should start getting your news someplace other than where you're getting it now.)

The only thing I'm afraid of are Americans who don't have the capacity to note where the real danger lies, or have the guts, stamina and intelligence requisite to the defeat of that danger. I'm afraid that fascist regressives - those who could give a shit about America and would be willing to profit from the collapse of America - will continue to have the opportunity to build on a deficit that won't be corrected for another two generations.

But, after having served two combat tours where I never pissed myself, I don't need the plastic sheet that you employ.

so?

What happened to courage in the United States?

When will we stop considering everything based on what scares us?

We are the scarriest people in the world.

Everything scares us.

Oooooohh there are some guys in some region that 95% of Americans caint find on a map that don't like us.

So?

How is everything our fault?

Here is something we need to worry about.

Since Columbine how many school shootings have their been in our country?

I think we need to focus on our own issues before acting on somebody else's.

Report: Netanyahu says 9/11 terror attacks good for Israel
The Israeli newspaper Ma'ariv on Wednesday reported that Likud leader Benjamin Netanyahu told an audience at Bar Ilan university that the September 11, 2001 terror attacks had been beneficial for Israel.

"We are benefiting from one thing, and that is the attack on the Twin Towers and Pentagon, and the American struggle in Iraq," Ma'ariv quoted the former prime minister as saying. He reportedly added that these events "swung American public opinion in our favor."

The sad truth is that most US citizens fear the bush administration more than they fear terrorists... and rightfully so.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:54 PM on 04/17/2008

It boils down to this, "will you, in your life time ever see a terrorist" or "has this administration done everything in their power to reduce American government to a snivelling bunch of puffed up chickenhawks snarling effetely at a made-up axis' of evil"?

The latter is why Americans are scared.

I bet I know why you don't see any terrorists.

Because you're up during the day and sleep at night.

It's a very little known fact that the terrorists are up in the middle of the night placing calls to the White House. That's why it's important to have the right president -one with the wisdom of Yoda - answering the red phone..

They definitely are here among us.

Hiding out no doubt with one candidate's Weatherman friends and/or sheltered by the other candidate's first law firm.

From the full article:

"The Government Accountability Office says in a report released Thursday that the U.S. lacks a comprehensive plan to deal with the terrorist threat.

....

Some federal agencies, including the Defense Department, agreed with the findings. But the State Department disagreed, saying that a comprehensive strategy does exist and is being implemented."

Might be nice if the State Department shared that strategy with, oh, I don't know .... the military???

Bush Corp. --- Shut up and don't say another word until you have bin Laden in chains on American soil. That's the war that began on 9/11, not this Iraq occupation crap. You have failed America.
