A high-ranking labor supporter of Hillary Clinton is distributing to union leaders and to Democratic strategists a document detailing the radical activities of Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, two former members of the '70s group the Weather Underground, who decades later, in Chicago, crossed paths with Barack Obama.

The document - a three-page emailed essay by Rick Sloan, communications director for the International Association of Machinists as Aerospace Workers (IAMAW) -- takes both literary and political license to outline what Sloan believes would be the thrust of a hypothetical Republican campaign against Obama focusing on his tangential connection to Ayers and Dohrn.

The goal of the essay appears to be to discredit Obama as the prospective Democratic presidential nominee.

The most damaging new material cited by Sloan appears in a link to an FBI Freedom of Information web site -- where a viewer can examine hundreds of pages of a study of the Weather Underground and its leaders, written in 1976 by the Chicago FBI office, just at the group was disintegrating at the end of the Vietnam War.

Sloan contends that the purpose of his document is to outline what he conjectures will be the tactics of Republican operative Karl Rove, an informal adviser to John McCain's campaign, if Obama is the nominee. The title of Sloan's paper is: "What Is Rove Up To?"

Sloan argues that Rove will use Ayers and Dohrn for 'red-baiting' attacks on Obama. Rove's "target is Barack Obama's signature slogan 'Change We Can Believe In.' Rove wants to redefine it as revolutionary change, change driven by an alien ideology, change no patriotic American could
stomach. And he intends to do so by channeling Senator Joseph McCarthy."

Sloan bases his conjecture on two Rove appearances on Fox's Hannity & Colmes, April 8 and April 14. During one appearance, Rove referred to Ayers and Dohrn thus: "Are there ways to find out the relationship between Ayers and Obama that are visual, that give it power and force?" During the other appearance, more obliquely, Rove described as "almost Marxian" Obama's controversial remarks about "bitter" small town Pennsylvanians.

Sloan, an aide to IAMAW International President R. Thomas Buffenbarger, builds most of the case against Obama on material he has collected from different sources, which he footnotes.

The FBI material supplied by Sloan includes the first Weather Underground "statement" issued May 21, 1970, delivered by Dohrn and titled "A Declaration of a State of War." Dohrn's reading of the declaration opened as follows:

"All over the world, people fighting Amerikan imperialism look to Amerika's youth to use our strategic position behind enemy lines to join forces in the destruction of the empire. Black people have been fighting almost alone for years. We've known that our job is to lead white kids into armed revolution....Kids know the lines are drawn; revolution is touching all of our lives. Tens of thousands have learned that protest and marches don't do it. Revolutionary violence is the only way."

Sloan, in turn, writes:

"Bill Ayers and his wife Bernadine Dohrn founded the Weather Underground Organization [in 1970]. According to Weatherman communiqués and papers compiled by the Federal Bureau of Investigation into a 403 page summary, Ayers and Dohrn toed the Marxist-Leninist-Maoist line. They were hardcore Communists bent on world revolution."

In 1996, Ayers and Dohrn, who are married and live in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago, hosted a fundraiser for Obama who was then running for State Senate. Ayers and Obama served together on the board of the Woods Foundation in Chicago.

The fundraiser and service on the Woods Foundation took place decades after Ayers and Dohrn's involvement with the Weather Underground. Indeed, Obama was 8 years old at the time of Ayres and Dohrn's radical activities. Since then, both Ayres and Dohrn have become professors and are active in Chicago community affairs. Ayers in 2001 published a memoir, "Fugitive Days", and in an interview about the book published in the New York Times on September 11, 2001 (an interview conducted before the 9/11 attacks), Ayers was quoted saying, "I don't regret setting bombs....I feel we didn't do enough." Just hours after publication, terrorists attacked the World Trade Center.

Sloan predicts that,

"The drip, drip, drip of Republican opposition research will continue throughout the summer. At the Republican Convention, speakers will joke about a color spectrum of light pink to deep red. And the GOP attack machine will publicize the visual that Rove believes will give that Ayers-Obama link 'power and force.'

"Rove's frame for the fall campaign will be filled with revolutionary figures -- Marx, Lenin, Mao, Ho Chi Minh and Che Guevara. His audio tapes of Ayers, Dohrn and other Weathermen will provide the screams of revolution. The bombing of the US Capitol, the Pentagon and the US State Department will serve as b-roll for his television ads that will have one final visual as
the announcer gravely intones 'Their Change -- Not What You Had In Mind'."

Sloan sent his anti-Obama material out in an email to 40 political and communications officials of key unions supporting Clinton. The unions include American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees; the American Federation of Teachers; United Farm Workers; Amalgamated Transit Union; and the Office and Professional Employees. Sloan said he also sent it to a number of Democratic operatives, but he declined to identify them.

Sloan said he wrote the document on his own, using a union email list which is deployed regularly to send out messages to promote the Clinton campaign. "The memo is clearly my work. It was not done for or at the request of the Clinton campaign," Sloan said.

Howard Wolfson, Clinton's communications director, referred all questions about the Ayers-Dohrn material to Sloan. "It's not our document," Wolfson said in a brief email.

Asked to describe the document, Sloan said:

"This is the case against Obama that Karl Rove is developing. He's been pushing the Ayers-Obama link on FOX. . . . Most labor folks, myself included, wouldn't know Ayers if we tripped over him. But the FBI summary does contain some absolutely shocking examples of hardcore Communist ideology. With friends like these, who needs enemies....And given what they [Republicans] did four years ago, Democratic strategists ought to be alarmed that Rove is back to his old tricks."

The 1976 FBI material, stemming from the Bureau's investigation of the Weather Underground, was released under a Freedom of Information request and is now posted on the Internet:

"Knowledgeable analysts who have followed the growth of Weathermen, or as it is now called, the Weather Underground Organization (WUO), are well aware of the foreign influences on the collective thoughts and actions of these revolutionaries who have consistently carried out the Marxist-Leninist conception of armed struggle in the U.S. The WUO investigation is an excellent example of the native born American who adopts the faith of an alien ideology and, in behalf of his beliefs, commits acts of armed violence, the purposes of which serve to acknowledge his revolutionary obligations to the international communist movement and at the same time create the conditions for revolution in the mother country."

The irony of this whole thing is that Bill pardoned two members of the Weathermen group. Where as, Obama's association is tenuous at best.

The fact that the press is ignoring this aspect of it, and pushing Obama's association is a little scary.

He's nothing compared to the Clintons. If the best that Hillary can do is a tenuous association, Obama's doing really well.

But, yes, the Republicans are going to throw all kinds of stuff at him. They have even more against Clinton, so this argument is pretty lame.

HILLARY HUCKABEE LIEBERMAN

This is how the Clinton's do it.

Imagine any teammate behaving this way.

Clinton supporters you are either ill-informed or have as low-character as your candidate.

Hillary is a flat out Liar. Are you too?

At what point do we as the democratic party eliminate HIllary Clinton?

We should tell her listen Hillary its clear that you cannot win. So, we are nominating the winner Barrack Obama. We as Americans understand this is not to your liking but it is the reality.

If you wish you can continue to run for POTUS as INDY as this will allow you to continue your efforts to undermine Obama and the hopes of having a Democratic canidate in office.

Its time for all DEMs to gather around the winner of our selection process and get HIM in the white house.

Barrack Obama needs our support.

Since Hillary knows the tactics so well she can be in charge of viciously defending Barrack!

For a little different comment:
This one is for Sloan and Buffenbarger of the IAM.
I think Wimpy is spinning in his grave over your actions ,
words and conduct.
You guys know what I mean.
Shame on you.
Not that you or Hillary or your DLC pals care.
Not that you care about your brothers and sisters.
Don't blow me off.
I worked to make the labor movement a stronger and a better
representative for many years and your actions and words
are tragic and despicable.
I and others won't forget.

If Hillary goes on to win this nomination, there are so many Obama supporters that have promised to go out of their way to enable her loose. They r planning on volunteering for Mccain.
Come to think of it, Mccain is more credible than Clinton and he has a conscience which Clinton does not have.
Why on earth should people vote for somebody with zero credibility and zero conscience.

I neva thought there could be a mother w/o a conscience.

Democrats are only 33% (aprox) of the population. There's another 33% (aprox) who are independents. Hillary can't win with just the Dem vote. So, when people say they will leave, it's possible.

As an independent, registered Dem to vote for Obama, I'll vote for Hillary only if she wins with the popular vote. If she steals it, she looses my support. I'd rather have a Republican who respects the will of the people than a Democrat who doesn't.

Actually, it is good to get this out in the open now. You know the Republican OR operation has all this anti-Obama stuff lined up. You know this Ayers issue showed up on Hannity, you know Gingrich has been mouthing off about it, and Rove. To blame this on Clinton is absurd.

Obama supporters need to know what's coming in the general election campaign. The Clinton campaign has been very easy on Obama, too easy in my opinion. The Republican onslaught will be a shock to them as opposed to the feigned or foolish shock they show at every single Clinton utterance.

Obama will not be able to blow this stuff off like he has been able to in the Democratic primaries, because in the primaries he's dealing with like minded people. The general electorate always falls victim to Republican manipulation. Forget that at your peril.

She was certainly happy to jump in a wallow in the mud during the debate. Her press releases are also filled with Ayers stuff.

Hillary will not blow this stuff off either. They will dump the pardon's on Hillary. Her mud is much deeper than Obama's.

Republican manipulation? Are you serious?
It would seem to me that the company Senator Obama keeps is doing a FINE job of throwing him on the ash heap of failed campaigns without any need for the Replicans to help them out! But I guess that's what happens when you surround yourself with garbage. Pretty soon, you start smelling like your own enviroment...

You lefty Hiliary supporters are absolutely ridiculous! The battle is now between Hiliary and Barack. You Hiliary supporters keep throwing the mud (Pastor Wright, Weather Underground) at Barack and justify it by saying Republicans will only do it later. You're doing it now! This is like what goes on in every professional wrestling match when the referee's back is turned for a minute. So don't blame it on the McCain campaign, just look in the mirror!
The Clintons have their hands very deep in the graft. Just ask Kathleen Wiley who has had death threats, pets killed, and her house robbed. Don't worry about the general election. Your left wing news media friends will quash anything thrown at Obama and only report bad things about McCain. And why is Hiliary now sponsoring an Olympic opening boycott? Ohhh, thats right, no more Norman Hsiu and bundled Chinese money!
Its going to be really amusing when your Democratic convention becomes WWIII in June and Howard Dean actually starts to look like the voice of reason for your party!

we are not blaming this on Clinton......but let me ask you this

Why is this fellow Ayers a highly respected teaching professor at a University? You act as if you know alot..so please answer Oh and remember Obama was 8 yrs old when this all took place.

Truth is...they, the republicans nor Clintons have much to pin on Obama. So lets dredge up every association and see if we can spin it, take a negitive spin on his words and policies because gee-wiz, Obama may just make this country better for all... Now we cant have that can we.

Part of the problem here is that people aren't digest the meaning of words. When politicians talk about "fighting to combat high gas prices," think about the possible remedies GOVERNMENT can control. The US Federal Government has controls:

1. Buying petroleum on the open market to add to the strategic reserve
2. The Federal tax on gasoline at the pump.
3. CAFE mileage standards

The only one of these things that has an immediate impact on the price of gas at the pump is number 2. Numbers 1 & 3 can have an impact in the medium and long term respectively. So when any politician even mentions doing something about it, people start to draw conclusions about what they might mean.

Now, I am not saying those are all bad, or that we have to communism hearings, but what I am saying is that you have to realize the impact of those decisions. The people who provide the engine of growth in our country are people who take risk for profit - PERIOD. Without them there are no small companies, no large companies, and the overall economy contracts because there are no jobs.

Again, Barack talks about "jobs." The only jobs the government can directly control are GOVERNMENT JOBS, and we all know what a crack job those civil service employees do. We all know about the economic benefits of an expansive government.

When politicians start talking like Barack does (Hillary too), some people get a little concerned.

What will these goons fabricate next? The problem is they have too much time on their hands to fabricate the devil's truth. I will repeat to these pseudo-Christians on the radical right: Thou shall not bear false witness against your fellow man!

When are you people going to practice what you preach! Stop sowing your seeds of fear and doubt, and especially don't do it in the name of God. You people carry religion around like some kind of badge of superiority, and then you stoop to this?

Radical religious fanatics, whatever your allegiance, Jesus or Mohammed, you are all a scourge upon the rest of us who just want to live in peace!

Bill Clinton visits Russia 1969

Bill Clinton went to Russia in 1969 to visit Lenin's toomb. He joined the British Peace Council, which was established by the British Communist Party. While Bill Clinton has never explained who paid for his trip to Moscow, he was accompanied by a friend and fellow Oxford student, Czech Jan Kopold. They were to attend a meeting of the War Moratorium Committee to be held January 2, 1970. Upon arrival, Clinton did not check into a youth hostel, but rather stayed at the Hotel National, the most exclusive and expensive one in Moscow of that time

You know everybody is talking about the republican attack but I leave this for thought. Twice the Republicans have swifted the democratic candidate and guess who we got GW. I think its time the democrats reminded the american people what happens when they swift someone u get a GW. Imagine how different America would be if Al Gore or Kerry had won the election we most likely wouldnt be in Iraq, we wouldnt be selling our military for political favors our economy wouldnt be in the tank the world wouldnt be afraid everytime we opened our mouths and we would probably be on our way to fixing global warming. So I ask you we have to show americans what happens when you swift boat you get a moronic president and his gun ho for war posse. So I think that swift boating is just a way to tear down the opponent because your candidate has nothing to offer. That said apply this example to Hillary and think where we are headed.

But over the past few months, her presidential campaign has taken its apparent embrace of former media adversaries to a new level, sending reporters articles that praise Clinton and attack Barack Obama drawn from conservative outlets including the National Review and the American Spectator, and quotes from Republican pundits like Ed Rollins and Grover Norquist.

And former President Bill Clinton made an appearance on talker Rush Limbaugh's show the day of the Texas and Ohio primaries - contests in which the conservative radio host had urged listeners to vote for Hillary Clinton as a means of sabotaging the Democratic nominating process

It's funny. We had Bill Clinton for eight years. We were directly attacked by terrorists over and over again and he didn't do a thing. Oh sorry, he bombed an aspirin factory in Sudan. I forgot about that. It's also interesting that he and the democrats lost Congress in 1994. On top of that, he waved his finger in our faces and lied directly to us, didn't know the definition of the word "is", and passed the biggest tax increase in history. Oh yeah, I forgot. He negotiated with Kim Jung Il and send Albright there to give him a basketball. What Kim do? He ignored the treaty and built up his nuclear arsenal. Non-proliferation? Both India and Pakistan were busy building and testing nuclear weapons.

Wow. Yeah. Really successful. Yeah, GW is a poor leader to be sure, and we definitely had a poor strategy for the peace in Iraq, but people make Bill Clinton out to be some great President, and the facts just don't bear it out.

An open letter to Hillary supporters... pass it on if you wish.

I think the biggest misconception HIllary supporters have of Obama supporters is that we are against their movement. That somehow Obama supporters are anti-woman.

But the one of the reason Obama supporters are so dedicated and sometimes intense to a fault, is to show HRC supporters that we are all fighting for the same thing. That we are in no means against them. We are just looking at the same problems from different point of view.

From a HRC supporter perspective, they believe she is experienced and can go into washington and play the game and make things right.

From an Obama supporters they believe that change is this country is not the take of politicians alone, but through co-operation and hard work of people. The concept is you do not leave the work for others, you have to go out right now and work for that change. That is why his supports are so involved and continue to draw in more people that want to take an active role in shaping their futures. People that were once cynical about government are now understanding that each and every individual has his/her role to play in improving America and that is where the excitement is coming from.

Same team with different approaches.

McCain has a much longer list of scandal than Obama.
McCain is 100% in the pocket of the big money.
When the focus goes on McCain he will lose hiss temper and act crazy as he does.
McCain is weak is so many ways he will be torn apart.
The big money interests that have controlled the USA with their Republican friends will try to fool the Americans into thinking McCain is for the working American but his record of supporting the interests of his big money masters will show through in the end.
Americans are paying attention, they are sick of getting the shaft . The American people realize that they need to kick out the corporate controlled politicians and put in some new blood.
The Republicans and their corporate socialism are history.
The Era of Progressive politician's has begun.
The American people are going to be watching Washington closely.

When will they realize the politics of the old days simply just won't do anymore? We can and will (and have) been doing our own research on the candidates...thank you very much. There is plenty of dirt out there on Sen. Clinton that can and will be torn apart by the Repugs. Has she been fully vetted? No, of course not. There are plenty of fresh things out there ripe for the picking on her. The politics of destruction isn't going to move this country one bit forward. We realize that now, I only wish she would. I wish Sen. Clinton would focus on how to build the party up vs tearing it down. Since both her and Sen. Obama's policies are similar, wouldn't it be best for the country if she focused on their small differences and how she would go about getting these implemented? Sen. Clinton has PLENTY of past relationships which are questionable and still linger fresh in Repug's mind. To say she has been fully vetted is wishful thinking on her part. Thanks to these type of tactics John McCain has been able to get a free pass, has been given free ammunition and has closed the gap in the race. What once was inevitible for the Democrats now hangs in the balance. Way to go Hillary! Thanks for thinking of what's best for your country!

How is this for a nightmare scenario: Hillary gets the nomination by superdelegates, then drops one of her clumsy sniper fire lies... and McCain exploits it. Prepare for President John Sydney McCain.
