Throngs of Chinese Americans protested outside CNN's offices in Hollywood on Saturday morning, calling for the dismissal of commentator Jack Cafferty, whose recent remarks about Chinese goods and China inflamed a community already angry about international condemnations directed at the host country of the upcoming Olympic Games.

The protesters lined Sunset Boulevard from Cahuenga Boulevard to Wilcox Avenue chanting "Fire Cafferty" and "CNN liar" and singing the Chinese national anthem and other patriotic songs. They waved Chinese, American and Taiwanese flags and directed their anger at the news channel's dark glass tower.

"It's really unacceptable," said John He, an organizer of the event. "It maliciously attacks all Chinese. This would not be accepted if it was directed at any other ethnic group."

So now the Chinese want to sue CNN a dollar for every Chinese? Hmm... sounds like the Chinese people want to censor the world for anything that Chinese people don't like, true or not eh? But, instead of threatening violence and murder, like the Islamists, they threaten financial hardship. No difference to me. You Chinese are terrorists now, so good going on that one. Anyone happen to see how the Chinese currency has been faring against the dollar? Pretty good compared to every other major currency. It has never been more obvious that they manipulate their currency for market and strategic gain. What America should send to China for those comments is not $1 a head, but perhaps one of their tainted prescriptions each. Or a packet of poisoned dogfood. Heck, give 'em one tube of purposely poisoned toothpaste as well. That's what the Chinese people truly deserve if any Chinese person believes in sueing an American corporation for a worker having an opinion about Chinese bully tactics. The same tactics these "commoners" are employing.

Americans are not exactly respectable either. We're becoming a nation of entitlement without work. Our youth is poisoned by feel-good sentiments without a sense of work ethic. We have to throw a parade just because someone shows up on time. The world population needs to have a serious sit down with a cosmic counselor, because the relationships aren't harmonious. Many people are positive forces, but there seems to be 2 negatives for every positive.

I think he made it clear he wasn't talking about the Chinese people. I'm not going to stick up for our present administration in the U.S., they're a bunch of goons and thugs too. But the Chinese government does NOT have a good record when it comes to human rights either. As for the exports from China read the latest article about tainted Heparin.

The Chinese are not in love with truth.

They are right to be angry, just as decent Americans (who actually physically protest the war) get angry when someone characterizes all 300 million Americans as thinking the same.

Let them go home and protest. We'll see how far they get, which is the point behind Cafferty's comments.

They can't which is why they came to live here in the first place.

Caffertys' remarks condemns the United States not Chinese people.I agree with his statement, the Chinese GOVERNMENT is dangerous because they have no standards about product quality or safety and thanks to Wal Mart and Chinese gov't, workers are paid pennies so that we can pay a few bucks for junk to feed our addiction to hording and buying crap.

He didnt insult the Chinese people, he attacked us and our consumerist hysteria.

In all fairness, we should try to remember that the Chinese have not complained about the goons and thugs running our government.

Maybe they should but then they are too busy making money off of us.

Actually, Texas, on every Tibet related site that I've posted on, they have gang-blogged it to death with the failings of the US gubmint. And I alway agree, because frist, they're usually pretty accurate, and second, that 3rd grade playground justification of, "well I only did it cuz Jimmy did," just doesn't (or shouldn't) cut it in the real grownup world. If they're really going to be the "leaders" of this century, then they need to grow some ethics and step up!

So what you're saying is that you haven't been following the anti-American bloggers that the Chinese have had commenting here and elsewhere for the last month (at least) then?

To: CNN

Please give Jack Cafferty an immediate 6 figure raise, more air time, and your apology!

If you had the guts of even the lowliest of GOP perps, you would have stood by your man and your guns and refused to cave to this obvious politically motivated and false sense of outrage among a very tiny minority of viewers. Do the words freedom of speech mean anything at all anymore to you corporate lackeys?

Passive Genocide of the People of of Tibet, then the world would not be speaking ill of china
HOWEVER THEY ARE and Men like Jack are speaking the TRUTH ......THIS IS AMERICA & last time I checked ....Freedom of speech is Still allowed HERE ....Unlike china.
Besides "GOONS N THUGS" is sugar coating it.
the more appropiate term would be Blood-thirsty-Racist-Genocidal Murderers!!!!!!!!!!

We should send Bush and Cheney to China to make them build railroads to pay off the debts they've incurred. The best that would happen to the US is having the Chinese make Kung Pao Bush-Cheney out of these two traitors.

The fact that Bush racks up so much debts to the Chinese to pay for Bush's illegal and immoral war should be enough to throw the b*stard in the abyss of hell.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:06 PM on 04/21/2008

That would be a good idea except neither Bush nor Cheney has done a day's labor in their lives. They couldn't produce enough to pay for their meals. The only things Bush is good for are bigotry and bike riding. Maybe if they took a bicycle and hooked it to a generator he could power a street light.

This goes to show

1) how arrogant the Chinese are
2) how much of a control the communist Chinese government have on Chinese who live in the US. In other words, there are thousands of Chinese spies in action. And the neat thing is they are not even paid by the Chinese government - they work for free and for their 'mother land'!

The Americans are either naive or simply too stupid to understand this.

There are hundreds of thousands of Chinese living in the US but secretly working for the Chinese government. There have been many proofs of this. Just open your eyes and use your head.

There are thousands of Chinese graduate students in the US universities receiving fundings from American taxpayers (NSF) and transfer all research and technology back to China, empowering and strengthening the communist regime and ideology - ones that thousands of lives have been scarified to fight against.

The Chinese have fixed their mind on taking over the world - just like those Orcs in Lord of the Rings. The question is not whether they will do this but when.

Boycott Chinese made products. Close ports to those containers containing thousands of illegal Chinese spies flooding the West. After all, it is ironic that they claim they run away from oppression seeking refugee status, but yet they support and promote oppression of the Tibetans. What a bunch of hypocrites!

FREE TIBET TODAY!

It's a shame we weren't more aggressive during the Korean War. We should have listened to Generals MacArthur and Chennault. The US should have stopped Mao then and installed a pro-western government.

The French would have held Indochina which would have prevented the Vietnam War and Tibet would still be a free state today. To top it all off, WalMart would have to buy its crap elsewhere, possibly here at home, and the Chinese would not be poisoning our children and our pets.

If General McEgo had attacked China, Russia would have swarmed over Europe the next day. Trueman knew this but McEgo just didn't think world strategy.

Like, they didn't?

I doubt it. If we had followed Chennault's advice and nuked the Red Chinese Army then the Russians would hardly have been so foolhardy as to attempt that.

It is incredibly ironic to me that a Tiananmen protester got offended by Jack Cafferty. Anyone who went through that event ought to have a sober view of the Chinese government and consider "Goons" as a rather benevolent term.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:26 PM on 04/21/2008

I doubt if that Tiananmen claim was verified. It's most likely this protest is a Chinese government propaganda operation. But what offends the Chinese most is when you say that everything they make has lead in it. Which is the truth.

I hope Cafferty does not lose his job but if he does I hope he goes to MSNBC with Olbermann.
That way there will be no reason to ever watch CNN again. (maybe Toobin can go too)

Love you Jack

I second that. I would promote Jack Cafferty show for free! Where ever Jack goes, I will follow (watch the network that takes on his show). By the way, Obermann is also awesome!

If the two are on the same network, I am sure the network will have a huge boost!

I teach at a Chinese university. Yesterday in class a number of students held back afterwards to talk about why foreigners are so critical of China. They honestly have their feelings hurt. They think that China has made incredible progress and it is a time of celebration. They don't consider their government a bunch of thugs and goons. They look at their lives and unlike most Americans they all say they are better off than they were eight years ago. They give the government some credit for that. They don't feel oppressed. We can talk about anything we want in class. As for Tibet, they think the problem was the rioters and they feel the government was too slow to restore peace.

I told them that all this criticism was going to be good for China. China is too sensitive to it, and as it continues to rise in power it needs to get used to it. They need to consider which criticism is valid and which is just hate. There is a lot of hate against China - some from people who have lost jobs to China's rise, others who do not like China's often lax enforcement of laws, others who do not like the system of government. . There are unfortunatley many ignorant Americans who need someone to hate, and the stereotype of the butchers from Beijing will be hard to change.

Hypocrisy. It would be like Germans protesting the French or Poles in 1942. These Chinese imperialists remind me of you Americans. Cruel oppressors who just can't handle criticism. Thin skinned and fully in denial over the evil perpetrated by their own government and armies. These protesters are no different than all you Americans who get so offended when someone states the truth about USA being the new Nazi Germany.

more tripe from the communist nation with the fasist face.

Imus was exercising his freedom of speech, and nobody was pissed off. If you think that people got pissed off because of Cafferty attacks towards CCP, you are very wrong. His comments insulted Chinese people as whole, whether or not they support the Communist regime. If you say something about someone, it is up to them to interpret what you said, not you.

Tibet is a complete different issue. What about people call you thugs because of what happened in Abu Ghraib.
