In the final push before Tuesday's Pennsylvania primary, Democratic rivals Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton aggressively went after each other in a last-minute attempt to woo voters. Obama accused Clinton of being willing to do anything to win, according to The New York Times:

The Clinton campaign released an ad accused Senator Barack Obama of taking money from lobbyists over the last 10 years, while the Obama campaign fired back in its own commercial, describing the Clinton ad as misleading and complaining of "11th-hour smears." The back and forth came as Mr. Obama on Saturday called Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton a "slash-and-burn" game player who will do anything to win.

Both candidates continued a brutal schedule of campaign appearances, with Mrs. Clinton courting voters in the morning in Philadelphia suburbs, which the Obama campaign has been courting heavily, and Mr. Obama planning to go later in the day to Scranton, where Mrs. Clinton has family roots.

ABC News, on the other hand, reported Sunday that Bill Clinton is saying the Obama camp is "throwing the kitchen sink" at his wife:

"And let me just say this -- don't you think for a minute that if you don't get her -- if you give her a big victory here -- after all the blizzard of money and all these ads and the kitchen sink has been thrown at her. I asked her about that -- I said, 'They are throwing the kitchen sink at ya.' She said, 'Well, Harry Truman said if you can't stand the heat you should get out of the kitchen.' So the only thing I said is, 'Well, you have got to figure out how to keep the kitchen sink in the kitchen now,'" Clinton told the crowd.

Clinton's view of the "kitchen sink" is a new spin on a story line already familair to many voters, thanks to Sen. Clinton's opponent in the race. Sen. Barack Obama has spent the past few days, as the race in Pennsylvania winds down, claiming that the Clintons have been doing everything in their power to throw the kitchen sink at him.

I wanted to clarify a comment. I'm an independent who is going to vote democrat. I don't want people jumping on me, for saying, "we" democrats.

Anyway, It's still a shame!

People jumping on you might be fun. Have you tried it?

I'm independent so I hope my words mean something!

I agree Clinton would do anything to win!!! I thought we democrats were better than that. It really bothers me that she is using all the republican tactics to win. All the tactics that were used against her, she now is employing. It's just a shame!

I just thought democrats were better than this.

Please remember that the Democratic Party is not one party. It is a big conglomeration of radicals, leftists, left of center types, centrists, corporatists, conservatives and loonies. The Democratic ideal is that everyone should have a chance to make it in this country. We are for fairness, equal opportunity, equal justice and adherence to the U.S. Constitution.

The idea of fair play and equal opportunity is the hallmark of the Democratic ideal. Ronald Reagan (an old school democrat,) moved the Republican Party toward a vision that included many of the people who traditionally vote Democratic. He played on the negative aspects of government to get in on the idea of change. (sounds familiar?)
He used the divide and conquer strategy. Ever since then, the "party of Lincoln" has been using the divide and conquer strategy to win over the while make middle and working class vote.

They really hit jackpot in the late 80's when the Religious Right signed up to fleece the coffers of the Government and their congregations as well.

All this is changing again. Many people are slowly waking up to the fact that conservative economics and political policies do not work well in a democratic society. If we don not represent ALL the people, we are all screwed.

tdpubs,

I do believe I just became a fan on the basis of this one post alone.

Democracy has to be We the People and not:

We Some of the People

That classy ole' broad Democracy is looking a bit mussed about the edges these days...there's something slightly askew about her appearance. I doubt it's menopause because she hasn't started emitting smoke from her ears but she sure appears to need some champions.

Without a fully functioning democracy, we have nothing.

Pennsylvanians, even if she wins Tuesday she'd have to win by a LANDSLIDE in ever yremaining race. This is simply NOT going to happen! Wake up! End this now! You have the power to end it!

Tomorrow will come soon enough. I'm sick and tired of the fighting and it's way past my
bedtime. I am not American but have been here at HuffPo for almost a year because my
American friends asked me to. I have known some of them for over 30 years and I love
them dearly. For all of them and some of you, I say that I have hope for tomorrow but
because so many Americans are still living in the past, I don't expect Obama to win.
He will however close the gap. Good Night and Good Luck. My thoughts are with
you from afar.

A vote for HILLARY IS A VOTE FOR THE REPUBLICANS. KARL ROVE SPEAKS ON FOX LAST NIGHT!!!

VOTE OBAMA

I keep seeing all these people telling her to quit!
NO, do not quit .. go all the way, don't let them get to you Hillary!!!
Let everyone vote!!

THIS is what it's all about ... I don't think it's going to tear the party apart .. yes, you'll have some who are angry about their Candidate not getting it, but in the end .. we'll come together in the fall for the good of the Party ...
Hillary '08!!

And that is what will do the democratic party in, come Nov. The slash and burn take no prisoners repug tactics that Hillary is using will ensure McCrazy will be the next president. I at one time would have voted for either Hillary or Obama, but those days are long gone. She has told all us progressives that we are not wanted or needed and continues to use repug tactics to undo Obama or any dem that won't vote for her. McCrazy sits back and talks about issues, while we dems keep killing each other. For dems to have any chance come Nov., this must end now.

Yes, HRC's "technically" in it until June 3rd.

She's essentially a technical foul in this Democratic primary until then.

HRC's "officially" out on June 4th.

Wrap this thing up tomorrow.

A Democratic win in November absolutely depends on it.

"we"?

Yes, Pennsylvanians, go for Hillary in a landslide and show how well she represents the heart of the Democratic party--those interested in a strong economy, health care, and professional ability.

Obama is a fast-track politico. While he is better than anything the failed Republican party has to offer, all he has so far is rhetoric.

"All the money Obama has spent"...He's getting 'all the money' from small donations and is kicking her ass because of the groundswell of support for him.
So of course he's going to spend it where it's important. What's he supposed to do, buy some exotic Wall Street investment vehicles from Hillary's constituents?
"All this money...all this money" she keeps bleating forth as though she were a poor victim. You're making over a million a month off Bill's mouth and his implied promises of payback once you can appoint cabinet officers, issue pardons and make policy to further the activities of you leash holders on Wall Street.

When can we all just face the simple facts? This thing is essentially over, unless Obama is revealed to be a wife beater or something similarly disastrous.

Simply put: 293 of the remaining 566 delegates are in PA and NC. That's more than half. If Clinton wins by 10 in PA and Obama wins by 10 in NC (and those projections are actually very friendly to Clinton, based on current polling data) she picks up 10-12 delegates?

At that point less than 300 delegates are left in 7 states. Indiana will be fairly close either way.

Clinton will win big in WV, KY and probably Puerto Rico

Obama is likely to rack up pretty good numbers in OR, Montana and NE.

Right back where we started, folks. The SD's know this. If she wins by 10 or less in PA, I predict the flow of SD's to Obama begins to pick up and even the most die hard people will know it's over by May 7.

If she doesn't win by a good margin, it will be telling.

If she does, though, it makes the superdelegates' decision tougher. The (screwed up) democratic system means it's not all about pledged delegates. The supers will need to think about electability.

If Clinton keeps winning battleground states, that's a big deal. Who cares if she doesn't get South Carolina, or Wyoming, or Oklahoma. Those are McCain's.

Obama's supporters must come out in force because Hillary will get votes from Rush Limbaugh's stooges. Remember how he ordered them to register as Democrats so they could vote for her in Texas?

They keep going on about the money Obama spends--and it is true, here in PA there is an Obama ad everytime you switch on the TV, but they are really not offensive. In the past, especially in local races, the airwaves are saturated with the nastiest mud-slinging you could possibly imagine, but these obama ads are low-key. One thing no one ever mentions is the fact that Clinton has the party machine behind her and Rendell is up on the screen every 5 minutes making an idiot of himself. Obama's money only serves to equalize the odds considering Clinton's home court advantages.

Well the only thing that matters tomorrow are votes. If PA is listening to Cnn (vote for Hillary) MSNBC (please vote for Hillary) and FOX (we're dancing in the streets when you vote for Hillary) then it's a going to be a sad day. I just happened to listen to the "The Morning Joe" fool crew this morning and all I can do is shake my head. For anyone calling themselves a Dem and listening to and/or deciding to vote according to whatever this jerk has to say(no matter who you vote for) is pathetic. But I bet cha there's a lot of pathetic voters in PA.

I'm amazed at the power these Neworks think they have or that they may have. WHICH IS IT, PA?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:28 AM on 04/21/2008

Bah... just give Hillary a PA win already. Give her a 20 point win for kicks. Even give her her 9 delegates already.

WHO CARES?

Obama still ends up with 160+ delegate lead, twice as many states won, leading in the popular vote, 5 times more money raised than HRC, AND the superdels will all have declared by June 3rd after Obama takes North Carolina and Indiana on May 6th and other states after that.

Just phone it in already. Obama WINS no matter what!

Scarborough is a neocon republican trying to mask as a moderate. It is no suprise then that he is supporting Clinton. None of that would matter exept that Morning Joe has become BORING and his supposed liberal cohost is not allowed up to his right wing rants. I used to watch it to see who the guests were but I no longer watch it but wait for CSPAN.
