Hillary Clinton will win Pennsylvania.

Arguments over the meaning or meaninglessness of her win will dominate MSM and stretch bandwidth to its breaking point. Bloggers and pundits will dust off their favorite boxing metaphors: "Hillary's off the ropes!" "Obama can't land the knockout!" Hillbots will rejoice, Obamabots will panic, and McCainbots will watch Murder She Wrote and go to bed at six-thirty. I'll probably write a scathing post attempting to prove that Hillary is the devil incarnate. We'll all lose our minds.

In hope of preventing some of this hysteria (especially my own), I thought it'd be helpful to keep a few things in mind during Tuesday night's results -- from Hillary's "victory" speech to the blizzard of spin that's sure to follow:

1. Remember that there's no way Hillary can become the nominee without a superdelegate coup -- which would alienate a generation of young Democrats and dangerously fracture the party.

2. Remember that her campaign leaked internals showing an eleven point lead (as a means of firing up her supporters and getting out the vote). Therefore, any win smaller than eleven points should be considered a disappointment by her own assessment.

3. Remember that every time Hillary begins a sentence with "you know," or "my opponent," the next thing out of her mouth is a lie.

4. Remember that when Clinton surrogates say "this proves Obama can't win the big states," they're ignoring the fact that he actually won more delegates in Texas -- not to mention twice as many states as she has.

5. Remember that when the pundits argue that Obama can't win in white rural areas because they broke for Hillary, they're ignoring the fact that he won (in alphabetical order): Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

6. Remember that when Hillary talks about who will be "better against John McCain in the fall," she's talking about the fall of 2012.

7. Remember that Hillary's campaign is $10M in debt, while Obama's has more than $40M in cash on hand.

8. Remember that Hillary's lead in Pennsylvania was as a high as 26 points only a month ago.

9. Remember that Hillary's late Pennsylvania rebound was forged in the fires of negativity and fear-mongering.

10. Remember that the only manufacturing job Hillary ever brought to Pennsylvania was the manufactured notion that she was a middle-class, whisky-swilling duck killer, and not an anti-union multi-millionaire.

I've been capaigning for candidates since 1968. I've walked, called, licked so many stamps that I swear I have a permanent lisp. I consider that it's my patriotic obligation to engage in the 'process'. And many times my candidates lose, but I always think, "well, at least we fought the good fight."

But this time, it's painful -- because it's not a 'good fight'. I'm so tired of HRC and her thugs...and make NO mistake about itt, they ARE thugs -- from the numerous racial comments from Bill Clinton (I man I campained for), to Hillary and her gang lying, trying to subvert and rules in Las Vegas, and now trying to change the rules in MI and FL.

If Mr. Obama does not get the nomination due to the Clinton Coup, then I will not only NOT vote for Hillary Clinton; I will not vote Demorcrat again.

I urge ALL to boycott voting for Clinton. If we wanted a Karl Rove candidate, we'd vote Republican. If Clinton gets the nod, then we should all boycott voting for her.

The woman is evil.

I "miswrote" a fact. Obama's camp did not predict the win in Maine. All of the other wins and losses were predicted...right on day 1. If you don't believe it, google "Tim Russert's Obama Prediction." He brings out his little sheet every primary. So all you Obamahaters, sticks and stones. But ,we are still winning. And, Democrats will win in November, nasayers!

Let see.....The Republicans changed the rules in Florida & Michigan, so the votes don't count for any Dem. However, the votes do count for McCain. Doesn't anyone else think we're being "Bushed" again???

My new favorite Hillary fact. Can I have permission to use this one?

By the way, the surprise should have been if Sen. Clinton didn't win. Listen to Tim Russart. During his commentary after the elections, he pulls out the copy of the predictions made by the Obama campaign before the campaign started. What you will be surprised to know is that the campaign has been wrong only once...he won in SC, not predicted by them. So, you see...he was right from day one!
Oh yeah, 30 contests to 15, 1420 delegates to 1249, and still ahead in the popular vote count. Sorry that we didn't take PA too, but we can't win them all.

Yes Thank You Seth. It is so freshing to hear truth speak to truth.
Ahhhhhh, finally.
Democracy is great and this process has been making many folks across our country feel wonderful in being able to vote and be a part of the process. However, one must ask for what? Do the Democrats think that this primary is really more important than beating McCain? That all this divisive bickering within the party is a good thing? Really? Isn't that exactly what the current government has been working towards? Divide, Conguer,Rule. It's time for the country, the party and the voters to realize the truth. Hillary has lost. If it were Obama who won only half the states, was behind in popular votes, behind in delegate pledges and BROKE, do you really think for one minute this would not be over and Obama shown the door.
She has lost fair and square. This is and should be over. The only way for her to be President is for her to take another election away from the people. Wouldn't that be interesting !

Only in America can a black man have a lead in every category, follow all the rules, do all that is ask of him and still come up on the short end of the stick, still have to prove himself to the pundits and the media. Super delegates already know who has won this nomination but they are pandering to the Clintons because of the good old days. America has already chosen their candidate and everyone is listening to the media and pundits just to stretch this thing to it's inevitability, disaster!

I heard on that WJC lost most of his last contest whilst he made his run against Jerry Brown and the rest is history. Billy also was famous for saying vote your hope not you fear. BHO should remind HRC and the American people of these words.

Obama got almost half of PA. I'm sure some of those votes were whiskey drinkin' gun totin' good ole boys with common sense to see that Clinton is still and will always be in the pockets of the wealthy, who don't worry about filling their tank, or sending their kids to college.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:12 PM on 04/23/2008

um. The clinton campaign claimed themselves that they needed an 11 point spread to win. They got 9.4. Clinton lost not Obama. Dude the truth is in the reading. Try reading a little before you make moronic statements. OBAMA won!

LewisR, I'm sorry to inform you that the only thing the Pennsylvania primary proved was how many old-fashion racist still exist in that State, and Hillary's race baiting proves she is not good for America in this generation. Even though there are some Hillary supporters who are not racist there are too many that are. Those old fashion racist can solve our major gas problem, i.e. melt them down and use them for fossil fuel.

CNN reported today that 17% of Clinton voters in PA admitted they voted against Obama only because he is Black.

Again, she steals the nomination she will not be President , she gets it fairly, i don't see how but, then and only then she may have a chance.

Dear Mr. Grahame-Smith,

"Hillary is the devil incarnate"? - I think not. I expect Satan to have much better leadership skills. Could you actually believe the legions of hell would remain organized with someone of the quality of Hillary Clinton leading them? I believe not. A foul aspersion upon the leadership of the damned, I must say.

Respectfully,
Beelzebub

Why do Obama supporters keep perpetuating the lie that superdelegates are obligated to support Obama? It is a goddamn lie that it is a "coup" if the superdelegates give Clinton the nod. They are supposed to act independently. According to the rules it doesn't matter who has more pledged delegates. This is the same system that is denying Michigan and Florida the opportunity to participate. Its the system we began with and the system we'll end with.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:55 AM on 04/23/2008

No one said they OBLIGATED to support Obama. We just hope they will support reality and logic and put the poor dog Hillary out of her misery.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:48 PM on 04/23/2008

So what you really saying feelfree is that it really doesn't matter what the will of the people in this election is ,,it only matters what the will of the super-delegates is. Why vote then ? We may as well just let the super-delegates decide for us because we don't really know what's best for us.
Believe me if that should happen the Democratic party will lose this election ! The people in those states that played by the rules have spoken and you can bet they want their votes to mean something in this election.
Hillary asked why Obama couldn't deliver the one two punch that would put her out of this election and she seems to think those words mean something .Has she ever wondered the same about her own campaign that hasn't been able to stop Obama's lead ? She is barely alive in this race and even her win in PA. was marginal to say the least which wouldn't give her the votes she needs to even come up even with Obama .Hillary's refusal to accept the fact that she can't beat Obama in the popular vote and the deligates has only led to party friction and she knows that but her ego will not let her bow out gracefully.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:38 AM on 04/23/2008

I am saying what the rules are. The will of the people is in the pledged delegates. You had your chance and your will didn't put Obama or Clinton at 2025. The superdelegates are independent. You can't make up the rules to suit your candidate. These are the same rules Obama is spouting to deny participation of Florida and Michigan. Rules are rules and this is the system. Superdelegates are independent. Get over it.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:42 PM on 04/23/2008

Yes. Those are the rules. That is why Obama picked up a superdelagte this morning. That is why he has picked up 80 since super tuesday. How many has Clinton picked up? Come on you can answer.

She is the black knight from Monty Python's Holy Grail-- refusing to concede defeat even with all her limbs chopped off. At this point, her pitiful attempts at insisting the outcome is in doubt are worthy only of a good bellylaugh, and walk on by.

Not even worried about Hillary anymore she and her coherts can waddle in their misery by themselves, she did not win convincingly enough to sway anything. She won a mostly racist state ..whoopie! White Men White Men that's all hear well guess what she can't win in the GE without Black people Black people, take that to the bank, if she STEALS this election there will not be a Clinton in office, why we would want that anyway is beside me i just dont get it.

The real racists are the 80-90% of blacks who have voted for Obama in the primaries. This will result in a white back lash in the general if Obama wins (steals) the nomination. It only makes sense that if blacks vote only for a black that whites will be persuaded to vote against the black candidate rather than for the white . The white bigots will have a field day running spots of the Rev. Wright cursing out whites and America in general, urging the majority to "save the white race". This should breathe new life into American bigotry, which had been on the wane in recent years.
