The LA Times reports today on how Pennsylvania fits into the larger Democratic primary race, and has this following observation about Obama and superdelegates:

Today in Pennsylvania's hard-fought Democratic presidential primary, there will be a winner and a loser. But the winner might not be the one with the most votes....

Obama strategists said Monday that they expected to announce a series of additional endorsements by uncommitted superdelegates shortly after Pennsylvania votes. A strong showing by Obama in Pennsylvania would give superdelegates more comfort in coming forward, but a bad loss might send them back to the assessment stage.

The way the dems are running this show makes me wonder if Rove is in charge. I hate it and don't understand why we need an outdated system of state or super delegates. Wouldn't it be nice if the dems would debate several times then let the whole country vote at one time? Wouldn't it be nice to let the popular vote decide?

Looks like the bad showing (huge loss to Hillary) has sent his new supers back to the assessment stage. Probably talking to Hillary.

He announced two more supers today. I hope he announces two per day up until Indiana and N
Carolina.

I actually heard something like that

Like a few would come out at a time

Im quite sure the supers knew he would lost Penn. so that would not be a reason why they havent come out. They havent come out yet because i think they're doing it little by little

"BIG WIN??"

PA spotted her 25% six weeks ago and she "won" by 10.

Don't give us that "he spent so much money" business either. She would have spent just as much as he did IF SHE COULD...BUT SHE IS BROKE!!

She won 12 more delegates than Obama. SIX WEEKS to WIN TWELVE. 2 delegates per week of dirty campaigning, straight from the gutter.

At that rate she'll be caught up to Obama's delegate count by 2009, just in time for the 6-month assessment of the Obama presidency.

THAT'S HER BIG WIN??

majseventh: Do you know what "DELUSIONAL" means? Probably not....Most Hillary supporters are "high school education OR LESS...."

you're right, people that refuse to face facts like to twist the math and the circumstances to make themselves feel better about their "little" win. kennedy needs to go and give Hillary some of his/her hard earned money so that she can pay back all the little people that she left unpaid.

she is barely making it and asking for $5.00 that says a lot. Take 5 million out of your joint account with Slick Willie and pay off those vendors that you stiffed.

Hey BillyT-
You are soooo right about the majority of Pennsylvania voters ....
so don't pick on poor majseventh . She is proud of her 7th grade education. She has most likely gotten further than most of her family.
I find it interesting how Hillary, through dirty, nasty, old school politics has alienated her once most populated demographics of the well educated and savvy voters: students, young adults, parents, women 25-55 and men 25-65. Because of her scurrilous tactics- she now can only pull the wool over the eyes of the less educated, lower classes and the senile.
She'll scrap around for whatever votes she can because it has become apparent to the majority of the voters that the Clinton's will fight hard for what they want, even if they have to lie. Now that they have shown their colors, only the chemically dependent voters- less educated, out of work and the pharmaceutically enhanced grandma's and grandpa's confined to their new 'Hover Round' wheel chairs.

We need the HOPE that there is going to be some big CHANGE to get this train wreck of a nation back on track again! Not more of the same.

wow her supporters are all uneducated? What would you call the 97% blacks that voted for Obama? Did I go to sleep and wake into a world that has fixed the education system and where the blacks have all gone to college? Just because some can afford college while others cannot does not make those people any smarter or dumber. Collage doesn't make you smart it makes you think your smart.

she didn't win by 10%, she won by 9%. Imagine a basketball team going into a gym witth another good, but not as good team. The better team travels all night to play on the other teams home court, and starts with a 20 point deficit. Meanwhile, the better teams rtecord is , I don't know, 30-11, and the worse teams record is 11-30, but has won some big games. At the end of the game, the better team loses by 9 points. Does anybody really think that they are now no longer the better team? You know, like becasue the giants beat the patriots by 3 in the superbowl, and the vikings beat the giants by 24, that the vikings are 27 points better than the patriots!!!!

I live in PA. It is the second oldest demographic in the nation, and had a huge advantage with Rendell's campaigning and machine. Hillary won. Congratulations . She narrowed her delegate deficit by 10 (pledged went from a deficit of 176 to 166, total from 144 to 134 ) that is good, but it is like a basketball team losing by 20 getting the deficit to 17(and Obama is likely to make up those 10 in NC and Ind). This race is over. HRC and McCain are both going to appoint pro business judges, so they are equal to me, but McCain's judges are going to be awhole lot worse on womens issues than Obama's judges, and my daughters deserve better.

Obama brought it very close and even overcame her in the polls before the voters took a good look and voted. He started at equal footing and lost, and lost big. Yes, that's her big win. Did you see a rush of super delegates come out as expected? No, they are hitting the pause button.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:50 AM on 04/24/2008

You are doing the "moving goalpost" again.

When Obama is ahead in the polls: "polls don't matter"

when you want to say Obama started on "equal footing" (where did you get that? Hillary has always led in the polls and led by 25 before winnign by 9) then it's "polls showed they were equal."

Hillary losing PA would have been the end of her campaign. She hung on to 9% out of a 25% head start. That is the fact.

They were never equal in PA. PA is full of older, white voters who are of "high school education or less," exactly the perfect Hillary demographic. And she got a big whopping total of 12 more delegates.

PA demographics is exactly what NC, the biggest of the rest, is not: fewer whites, more educated.

So long, Hillary, we can finally say after NC....

lol thats only because they dont want to take the chance of Hillary crying foul!!! Imagine how long she would cry if the supers jumped in and took it. They know she cant win and are prepared to support Obama they just dont want to seem like they are jumping over the will of the people. Unlike Hillary who doesnt care what anyone thinks as long as she can get into the WH and push the agendas of her contributers. Noone questions why she is such a "fighter" in this campaign even at the risk of irrepairably damaging the party. Its because she has to win. HRC and her husband owe a lot to alot of people they have alot of personal gain riding on this and they just cant let it go.

I predict Hillary switches to the GOP after the loss.

She means the new ones in the article that are supposed to announce after the election. It is not happening because he didn't do well at all. A 10% difference is huge.

Ummmm, 9% really isnt a big deal

In state tailor made for Obama, he has won by a larger margin than that

Just like Illinoise and New York. He blew her out the water...Her on the other hand, not so much

He has received 4 super's since the primary

They are holding out because people like Evan Bayh are telling them to wait

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:42 AM on 04/25/2008

10% = 12 delegates.

This is a huge deal? You think small.

After PA,

Obama's got 1719 delegates.

Hillary's got 1586.

12 delegates is all she got from PA. You really are delusional aren't you....to think all she got was 12 delegates after 6 weeks of gutter politics and you think that's gonna turn the tide?

HAHAHAHAHA.

HA.

WHY CAN'T HILLARY CLOSE THE DEAL?

PA was Clinton's to loose.

Hillary enjoyed a 16 year name advantage, family roots, to her own credit 35 yrs of experience, decaded of political favors and friends to call on.

Why is Hillary 15-30?
Why is Hillary 158 delegates behind?
Why is Hillary only 24 superdelegates ahead?
Why is the Clinton machine/Hillary millions in debt?
Why didn't Hillary knock Obama out on Super Tuesday?
Why didn't Hillary win her birth state of Illinois?

WHY CAN'T HILLARY CLOSE THE DEAL W/ 35 YRS OF EXPERIENCE, A MACHINE, POLITICAL CONNECTIONS, AND A PRESIDENT BEHIND HER?

Who is the best candidate, who is running the best campaign, who is running on the issues, who is breaking finance records, who is bringing the young and new voters to the democratic party?

You forgot one more.

Why didn't Hillary have a Landslide in NY. She won by 17 points. Barack won Illinois by 31 points.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:26 PM on 04/23/2008

Probably because they said Obama didn't get any votes at all out of 80 precincts. That was not televised or mentioned in the media, only in the Times. You really think he didn't get any votes in 80 precincts in New York where he is loved by millions? It's similar to his not getting any substantial votes from all those thousands who came out in PA. Hmmmmmm.

In a race between Obama and McCain, Obama *loses* in MA since he's tied and you know how late deciders always break. Hillary beats McCain but don't let reality wake you from your slumber.

15% drop. The man cannot stand up to either Dem candidate, period, it's just a matter of time before the rest of the country gets to see McCain up against someone who actually knows what they're talking about.

Gov. Henry of OK endorsed Obama. Yawn...PREDICTABLE. Obama tanks, his empty suit deflates, he gets Superdelegate endorsement the next day. Only kindergartners lack the sophistication to see through this attempt to distract from how unelectable he is. Susan Estrich was hilarious when asked what Howard Dean was doing after Hillary won PA...her answer? DRINKING. Clinton Haters in the upper echelons of the Democrats are probably all drinking about now. The Hard Stuff. They were duped into drinking the KoolAid, joining the MSM, and giving Obama a free pass for months. Obama rode that train through primaries he'd have lost if his affiliations were known earlier. He rode through caucuses propped up by the dirty work of his legions, who intimidated and cheated their way through. If you were at one you know what I mean. If Obama-leaning Superdelegates have any working neurons at all, they're thinking..."Crap!" realizing how up a creek they are. (If they give it to Obama he cannot be elected. If they give it to Hillary, Obama-ites will cry she "stole it" ...which is, ironically, laughable since she's the one cheated of a fair campaign by the MSM and Dem Party). Then we have thug-like rumors Obama supporters will "riot in the streets" if he doesn't get it. I will stock up on food and water, and I say Bring It On. America cannot be held hostage...even by its own electorate. My new favorite drink? KoolAid spiked with Crown Royal.

purpleblue I think you had one too many....
Al that talking ,,you have said absolutely nothing about why according to your feeble reasoning ability Obama is not good enough. Affiliations?
Take the man at face value, read his books you may learn some valuable about his character and about government.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:25 PM on 04/25/2008

Purpleblue, if Obama is unelectable, then why do superdelegates CONTINUE to endorse him, even after Clinton's scorched-earth campaign, Wright, Ayers, "Bittergate," etc.? And keep in mind, purpleblue, that Obama could have chosen to run an entirely different campaign and hammered her on the many scandals associated with her prior to and during her years in the White House. And to your comments about "thug-like rumors" and "rioting in the streets," what do you mean by that? I think I know, but I want to hear your response. If you don't get your way you'll "stock up on food and water" and say "bring it on." What does that mean?

I certainly hope that purpleblue is NOT a typical Clinton supporter.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 06:55 PM on 04/23/2008

He is ONLY ahead because he was practically burped, diapered and coddled through the first 15 months of this campaign. All his shiny, happy people (read Ozombies) never asked him the tough questions he's trying to avoid answering now, and they cried foul when anyone else did. Just wait until the GOP gets ahold of him. He's going to look back wistfully at Bittergate. With all due respect, I suggest you are better off on the hard stuff than the KoolAid. And in the words of Archie Booker: Sticks and stones may break my bones, but FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT.

But.....

Who's winning now, with the entire GOP party, AND Senator Clinton's camp against him?

Obama was ahead of her even before "bittergate" was introduced and still ahead of her. Now what?

The GOP has John McCain. I hope he can still remember his name in November.

I understand the GOP love their fear tactics, that's all they have left. But most people are on to them now.

BOOO!

There not tough they are downright rediculous and have nothing to do with his ability to lead this country and also have nothing to do with the issues that face this country thats the point. The deal is Obama is dead on, on ALL the issues so you look for a reason to tear him down. If anyone in here can truthfully say that they do not have any tenuous relationships please speak up.
