In the span of 24-hours, starting Monday night, more than two million votes were cast for MoveOn.org's Barack Obama political advertising contest, a robust show of Internet activism even by Obama's standards.

MoveOn, which has endorsed the Illinois Democrat, launched its "Obama in 30 Seconds" contest weeks ago, challenging members to create an advertisement for the Senator's presidential campaign. The project drew more than one thousand submissions and will conclude with the winning entry being aired on national TV.

The reaction, organizers say, has been pleasantly unexpected. Indeed, when MoveOn launched its President George W. Bush in 30 Seconds ad contest in 2004, the group received 2.9 million votes total.

"We're blown away by the remarkable response to our 'Obama in 30 Seconds' contest--it's a testament to the energy and enthusiasm for Senator Obama's message of hope," said Eli Pariser, Executive Director of MoveOn.

For Obama, the MoveOn.org advertising campaign is, perhaps, more self-reassuring than politically beneficial. Many of the organization's 3.2 million members - mostly anti-war and Democratic activists - are already firmly in the Obama camp. That paradigm was even further sealed last week, after the Huffington Post reported that, in a private fundraiser, Sen. Hillary Clinton claimed differences with MoveOn and blamed the group for her caucus state losses.

Below, watch a sample ad, or go vote yourself:

Am I the only person who is mostly unimpressed with the finalists?

Some are pretentious and some are unimaginative.

I watched a bunch of these ads a few days ago and saw nothing that was about Obama. They mention his name, but I didn't see any ads that could not have been made about the other candidates as well. Before I spend more time watching these things, could someone tell me if the finalists are Obama-specific or just more fluff?

I am one of the few members of Move-on that support Hillary. But, I believe in so many issues that they fight for to defend America. You don't have to completely embrace an organization, if you feel they are doing good for this country. And so many do not have our country's issues in the forefront. This persistent squallbling(i think i spelled that wrong) does nothing to ensure America & the freedoms for which She stands. I consider myself an avid patriot. My husband is a combat wounded veteran who has been forgotten by this government. The middle & lower classes have been dismissed by this administration & the conservatives. The wealthy have set their agendas & these are being force-fed to all citizens. I would vote for Obama if he becomes the nominee, but that doesn't suggest that I still don't support Hillary. After all, she isn't Bill. She is her own person with her own convictions. And she is strong...she has to be with all the rabid Clinton-Hate in this country. My opinion...but this is America!!!

I don't believe you have thought through your position on Hillary. I believe Hillary is staying in the race for the purpose of destroying Obama's chances of success. I came to this conclusion after thinking about her motives. I now believe she needs the continuation of her candidacy to provide the cover under which she can seek to undermine and destroy Obama. If she drops out, Obama has a solid chance to beat McCain. If she stays in, she can justify her destruction of him as just her efforts to secure the nomination for herself. I do not believe she thinks she can win the nomination at this point. But if by some fluke she gets the nomination, she is ahead of the game. If not, she is well positioned and 'innocent' in the eyes of many Democrats of harming Obama. "Just trying hard to get the nomination" would be her declaration. McCain would be a one termer. Obama could conceivable be a two termer. Too long to wait for a chance for the power of the presidency. So she is positioning herself for 2012 in case she can't manipulate the nomination this election cycle. Obama would be out of the way in either case, leaving a wide open field for her in the next cycle. Time would erase any negative feelings from Obame supporters, plus she can always argue she was fighting for the nomination . Perfect cover for her either way it turns out. A sly fox i.

"Time would erase any negative feelings from Obame supporters" ???

Not likely. If Hillary is the nominee, I will NEVER vote for the Democratic Party again.

The CLINTON INSURGENCY MARCHES ON

The Clinton Insurgency will continue on no matter what party leaders say or do. She stopped running for President in '08 sometime between Super Tuesday and Mini-Super Tuesday when the "Campaign To Elect Hillary" morphed into the "Campaign To Defeat Obama" at all costs.

So we loyal DEMS have to recognize that and behave accordingly.

The Clinton Insurgency will just move to the Senate if she fails in denying Obama the Presidency.

There, she'll caucus with Sens. McCain, Lieberman, and the rest of the REPS to keep blocking Progressive legislation and help create a failed Obama Presidency.

Of course, she's still got a great chance to avoid that by bringing to pass her preferred self-fulfilling prophecy of a failed Obama General Election campaign that produces a McCain Administration.

If The Clintons can pull that off, then they'd gladly take the heat while slowly trying to spin themselves back into DEM good graces.

So please stay informed and aware. Based upon The Clintons' words and deeds that we are all currently witnessing, there is absolutely no reason for any of us to be caught off guard or not prepared for their continued assault against Obama and any type of "Change You Can Believe In".

The Clintons are desperate to remain "titular heads" of the DEM Party, even if it means dooming us, the country, and the entire world to another four years of wandering in the wilderness during a McCain or Cheney-Lite Administration.

And since they plan to use Farrakhan, how about the youtube w/bill clinton praising Farrakhan's works and the one w/Rendell praising Farrakhan's. I'm tired of this double standard....its only a big deal with Obama's actions or Obama's words....or better yet, major issue w/Obama associations words and actions.

Move On and the Democratic party served The Clintons well. They supported them through a decade of scandals. Hillary and Bill are not very grateful, nor do they show loyalty on their side. The Democratic Party assumed that she would be the nominee 1 1/2 years ago - but they found a better candidate. Hillary is bitter and determine to destroy the organization that saved the Clinton Presidency and the Democratic Party. Why can't she be gracious and accept that Obama is simply the better candidate, and support the Democratic party.

I used to be a MoveOn member. I walked door to door, made calls during election night to get people to the polls, and donated money. I also helped out with the 2006 state elections in PA where we defeated that despicable Santorum. When I received an email from them asking if I would host an
Obama party I was FURIOUS and immediately asked to be removed from their email list. I felt betrayed and what they should be doing is launching anti GOP ads rather than spending money to endorse one Dem over another. Bottom line is - we need a Democratic victory in November regardless of who the candidate is.

"we need a Democratic victory in November regardless of who the candidate is." ???

I don't trust Hillary to appoint Liberal judges to the Supreme Court. She has rejected the Liberal label. She has voted for WAR. SHE IS NO DIFFERENT THAN THE GOP.

Hillary and other BLUE DOG Democrats who support GW Bush are trying to take over the Democratic Party. If they succeed, I'll switch to GREEN.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:17 PM on 04/30/2008

Did you not vote when asked to endorse a candidate? Your candidate lost, and a very sizable defeat at that. So your fury is misplaced. There is no injustice here, just sour grapes.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:49 AM on 04/25/2008

Excuse me?

Moveon did not endorse a Dem candidate until pretty far into the process and until all candidates were heard from and they let the organization VOTE for who to support. I am sure if it was close, they would have supported both or been neutral--it was not.

Let's take a look at NOW. They endorsed and supported Hillary 17 months ago, in spite of the fact that all the major Dem candidates, including Obama had a fully consistent NOW agenda. All Obama lack was plumbing and breasts of Hillary. So if you want to be angry at any Dem organization that abused its role in this process, look no further than NOW.

Moveon played it straight! NOW did not.

They always choose a candidate, what's wrong with that. If the Clinton's are being honest, they will tell you that MoveOn has done plenty for them, that have done for no other candidate. What a ridiculous excuse for not supporting a Democratic Activist group. There are plenty of other reasons to disassociate.
