The Republican campaign is cranking up. Yesterday they were saying that Barack Obama is a gang member. (Black guy, get it?) Today he's a terrorist?

Oh yeah, that's right, last week he was a Communist!

By summer the Republican campaign will be in full swing. I wonder what imaginative things they will come up with?

Too bad the same rules don't apply to McCain: Hagee Says Hurricane Katrina Struck New Orleans Because It Was 'Planning A Sinful' 'Homosexual Rally',

On September 18, 2006, Pastor John Hagee -- whose endorsement Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) said this past Sunday he was "glad to have" -- told NPR's Terry Gross that "Hurricane Katrina was, in fact, the judgment of God against the city of New Orleans." "New Orleans had a level of sin that was offensive to God," Hagee said, because "there was to be a homosexual parade there on the Monday that the Katrina came."

Hagee is McCain's preacher.

Will this also be on every news channel, repeated over and over, 24/7, for the next several months? Will reporters hound McCain with questions about his preacher? If not, then what is it that is different between this preacher and Obama's?

Isn't it interesting that any questions or criticisms of the Israel government is considered to be an attack on Israel and therefore antisemetic. If one of our leaders or anyone else launched into this type of hateful spew about a highly respected former leader of their country they'd be demanding blood. The Israeli government seems to hold everyone else to a higher standard of conduct than they themselves are willing to adhere to. And to come to our country--a country that has provided Israel with billions of our taxpaying dollars and supported their cause in innumerable ways--and speak with such disrespect about our former President, a nobel peace prize award recipient that was simply attempting to broker a peaceful resolution, is despicable and an apology should be demanded immediately.

Sorry everyone. I tried to delete this before it posted but to no avail. This is a response to another article regarding Carter. Again, sorry.

I missed the part where McCain attended Hagee's church for twenty years.

What's the difference between John Hagee and Jerimiah Wright?

What a silly question Dave. There're many differences, but let me list the most essential ones for you:

1. He's white, like McCain, while Obama is black, and so is Wright.

2. He's republican and Wright is the black preacher of a democrat... a liberal democrat.

3. He utters his own words while Rev. Wright only quotes retired diplomats (Edward peck) as a footnote.

4. Rev. Wright risked his life for America, as a marine, while John Hagee was busy raking in the million s and suing his former church for more millions.

That about covers it.

Cenk Uygur has a fantastic article I've kept from June 7, 2005 where he states a "Seven Step Plan for Media domination and opponent destruction". I don't have the link, but if you look up Cenk's bio, one should be able to corelate it with that date. It's an awesome article, and one can immediately see how it has been used by Rethugs with great effectiveness.
Of course, one does not have to stoop to rethug tactics, which are low class. But winning is very much everything.
It is up to Obama and his staff to go after the big shots with McCain, not just McCain himself. He's got to come back strong in every instance and strike back, and strike back with much clarity and intelligence. This will make their contiuous salvos look irrelevant early on, which will be extremely important, since the key to their having effectiveness.
Statements against those who are a threat need to be made over and over again ad nauseum, so that when people think of those issues or those that stated them, they will think of the statements, regardless of how they may ringor who it may bother. This is what The Clinton campaign has done, and rather effectively.
To his credit, and integrity, Obama has a hard time with this. But I believe it is possible to employ these tactics and still maintain one's integrity.

So, Barack Obama and McCain both belong to religious organizations that hate gay Americans. Is that really the point of the article? If McCain can be tarred by his pastor's rhetoric, then surely the same standard applies to Barack Obama.

I think you'd better re-read those talking points from Obama Central, because somewhere along the line you made a huge mistake.

Of course, McCain can simply say "I wasn't listening when he said those things." Thinking better about it, it's probably more believable coming from McCain.

See its this misinformation that gets spread. Rev Wright belongs to a Progressive church that WELCOMES Gay that does outreach to fight AIDS in the communty. Do you hear Obama's speeches he's the only politican that includes gay. Thats something he got from his church Trintiy United. Contrary to misinformation out there the church is NOT a den of evil. They DO GOOD work.

I don't think that's the point. I don't believe Barack Obama hates gays. I don't believe John McCAin does either. They simply happen to both know two people who've made outrageous comments about gays and about God Damning this and that or the other thing.
The point is we need to point out this double standard. If we don't we lose the opportunity to fight back properly against right wing slime merchants and it keeps the issue of religious bigotry and how it shapes our politics in the media.

Their assault will certainly be more effective if Hillary is still around and publically agreeing with their BS.

Anything and everything the Republicans can do to scare the crap out of the common person they'll do. And they've figured out that words like terrorist and Muslim are pretty damn effective at accomplishing that goal.

And people fall for it year after year. I'd like to have hope that after 8 years of Bush people won't fall for it again, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

This is almost comical. They dont know where to put him and this is why he worries them. Trying to convince the general public he's all things make you sound desperate and untrustworthy. I expect next they are going to say he is the Anti-Christ.

At any time during this democratic primary, has anyone on the Obama team implied that the only reason Clinton is still in this race is because of white women? Yet on multiple occasions, we've heard Clinton supporters (Bob Johnson, Ferraro, Bill Clinton) say that the only reason Obama is winning is because he's black. We'll take the anti-Hillary stuff out when it doesn't apply!

I saw that clip. He never shot the finger. At all.

It takes a demented immature person bordering on idiot that wants to kick sand around by stating such a thing.

He was scratching his face, as a side shot clearly indicated. How childish is it to assume ill intent and claim it exists after proof is shown that no such thing happened?
