His campaign three weeks ago were already asking volunteers from my state of WA to go to OR to help in new voter registration. Sen. Obama's experience as a community organizer is severing him very well. This is the problems the dem's have always had never willing to think out the box, running the same campaign over and over with no results. Dean started this sort of campaigning but Obama is perfecting it.

Just another reason Obama is the better choice for 2008 and the future as well.

There was a story a while back saying if young people vote for the same party consecutiively to start their voting careers they become something like 75-80% party loyalists. If Obama combines his 50 state grassroots campaign of first time voters and young people with most of the traditional democratic base and swells african-american support, then gets them to vote for him and the party now in 2008 and again in 2012 the democratic party will have solidified 2 generations of loyal supporters and grown the party into the most powerful grassroots party in History. 50 states strong and technologically savvy with fundraising power the GOP would be envious of.

Now imagine putting that with Bill Richardson as VP and swelling as much hispanic support as well, especially when he ran in 2016 after Obama's second term. The democrats would force the republicans into a 50 year submission.

So again Hillary or Obama?

voter registration has been a huge part of their campaign in individual states during the primary, i'm not at all surprised to see them doing the same for the general election, it's smart strategy and shows a commitment to growing the party as a whole.

The Clintons didn't think of this with all of their experience? No wonder Obama is eating their lunch.
Obama tries to build the democratic party, while the Clintons are destroying the party.
This is why Hillary getting her butt kicked by a mere inexperienced freshman senator from Illinois.
Hillary's super delegates have been leaving her to support Obama.
It pisses the Clintons off big time to be getting their butts kicked by someone who is as Hillary says "is not experienced enough." What a psycho Hillary is, she is so delusional she shouldn't be answering any phones at anytime of the day.
This is Obama's first presidential campaigne but, this is the Clintons 4th presidential campaign and between them they have about 80 years in politics and they can't close the deal on the freshman senator from Illinois.
Why should anyone vote for Hillary she can't even manage the finances of her campaign and yet she claims to be experienced enough to run the country. What a fairy tale.
If nothing puts sense into folk"s heads it should be the realization that the Clintons are going to appoint the incompetent fools who have helped mismanage Hillary's campaign to positions in the government.
Who would have thought it - the Clinton brand has finally gone down the toilet and it didn"t get there as a result of a vast right wing conspiracy. Bill and Hillary showed America their true selves and Americans flushed their crap down the toilet.

I watched B.O. talk/play basketball the other day in an interveiw with Bryant Gumbel.ithink this side of him could be very appealing especially to the bitter class, who are probably used to relating to African Americans via sports. .Of course, maybe thats why he's avoided it up to now.

It's gotta win more respect than his bowling game though ,and Indiana 's a basketball state.

Maybe if he stopped focusing on the young college crowd showing how he can bring out large crowds and how he relates to the youth of America and had town meetings with directed issues of the older and middle class, many of whom are struggling to make sure their kids can stay in college and go to the rallies, he might hear what their concerns are and why they still hold him in suspect as naive and not ready. He needs to listen instead of explaining what he thinks he knows about them . By stopping with some of the huge rallies and finding a way to focus on some of those groups, I do think he might demonstrate more common ground. Most of us know his standard speech. He has to decide if he is going to center his campaign on staging things to get on television or to get elected. As some commentator put it tonight...his focus on hope and dreams is tailor made for people who are in the younger stage of life. But his ability to really understand and learn what middle class hopes and NEEDS are is lacking. His main work has been with poverty level. His main other experience has been as an adult was when he was in college and law school. But, he has not lived in the world of the group he most desperately needs to connect with AS AN ADULT, Listening is one skill that Hillary trumps him greatly.

GREAT. This is exactly what we need to do.

Here in Pennsylvania, the local Obama people have been waving goodbye and saying they'd see us again in the Fall. To win, we need to keep all of the activists - both those for Clinton and those for Obama - involved with the Democratic Party, keeping in touch with the thousands of new voters we've already registered, and signing up as many new voters over the next few months.

Even if the two candidates have not come together, it is time for the rest of us to do so in order to defeat John McCain. If your state has already voted in a primary, you can still work to win.

Registring voters? This is one of those things that seems so PAINFULLY OBVIOUS, but does not routinely happen!

I like this too, but doubt it will have effect in Indiana. There is little time b/w now and the primary to have the names entered into the database and then printed for ID match on Primary Day. Locally, they are barely keeping up as it is.

You're missing the point. Obama, by launching a 50-state registration drive, will be looking beyond indiana and acting a) as if he is already the nominee and b) in the best interests of the party.

This man knows how to build an effective organization and he is making his first move in taking charge of the Democratic organization.

This is why the guy needs to be president. He isn't functioning as if the only way to be president to get 50.1 percent of the vote. You have to build a coalition in order to actually govern people, and Hillary will have no coalition. That is the basic difference between the two of them. Obama has one ans is willing to build one Hillary has none and doesn't seem to care. More dem voters means more dems in the halls of gov, not just house and senate, especially since Lieberman is a republican now, but state govs, mayors state legislators. To really change the country we have to get people out, get people voting. This is one of Obama's strengths, and one of Hil's weakness.

Every citizen should automatically be registered upon high school graduation. You should have paperwork completed during the last week of school. It would be easier to do it when you get your driver's license, but that comes before 18.

Message to super delegates: endorse now and help your areas with these registrations in your areas.

All of Dems in Congress ought to be on board with him to help him accomplish this feat.
