The torrent of speculation about the end game of the Democratic nomination contest is creating a false sense of suspense - and wasting a lot of time of the multitudes who are anxious to know how this contest is going to turn out.

Notwithstanding the plentiful commentary to the effect that the Pennsylvania primary must have shaken superdelegates planning to support Barack Obama, causing them to rethink their position, key Democrats on Capitol Hill are unbudged.

"I don't think anyone's shaken," a leading House Democrat told me. The critical mass of Democratic congressmen that has been prepared to endorse Obama when the timing seemed right remains prepared to do so. Their reasons, ones they have held for months, have not changed - and by their very nature are unlikely to.

I sure hope someone is Stephanie Tubbs-Jones district will run against her.

I can't stand Sephanie Tubbs, she's just as arrogant and nasty as Hillary.

The time to endorse Obama is right now!!!

So these are the superdelegates that are prolonging this "fight". Sounds like Obama is responsible for that and not Hillary.

Is Hillary so much like George Bush that she doesn't care what the "outside world" is saying about her?

While Clinton is blabbering to anyone who will listen that she is still in the race the supers must wait for an Obama win to push her out. Wins in Indiana and NC would more than do the job. NC wouldn't look as good, but it will still work.

Clinton herself must feel which way the wind is blowing,
Why else would they devise such a crazed and desperate formula to
show her ahead in the popular vote?
Don't count 13 caucuses, count Florida and Michigan, and hey presto
the popular vote is mine....
Whatever.

irrational reasoning for the delusional clawing her way to her "perceived" throne...LOL

Look at that! These super delegates have more spine than our Congress!

Do not be swayed by the big media trivia drivel!

The SDs are looking at coattails. Barack has brought in many new voters who will be relied upon to vote down the line. I think Barack means more voter support in statewide elections.

The SuperDelegates all know that Obama pulls in Independent ( unaffiliated ) voters Clinton turns them off a would vote for McCain.

That's the one thing that Hillary's wins in Ohio and Pennsylvania does not show.

IT THE INDEPENDENTS, STUPID !

Thats why Polls show him winning PA in the general against McCain. Obama won 60% of the new registration but they are republicans and indepdents who support Obama who didnt change party to vote in the primary. He can win over independents and he can win over some repbublicans. Thats one of many area where she is weak. Goodness a two term senator is going up against a politica machine and he is winning that is not only proof of his strength but it is of her WEAKNESS.

She also gets republicans off the couch to go out & vote for Senator Mccain. Some of these republicans would stay home if Obama is the nominee, as many are less than enamored with John Mccain.

A lot of the Republicans I spoke with in PA would get off the couch and vote for Senator Obama!

The Democratic Party leaders should release the names of the Super Delegates who have not endorsed a candidate yet and are thereby aiding the Republicans by holding back. Release all the names and keep them in the newspapers and on cable news. This way their constituency will have easy-access to the identity of the "Supers", who are complicit in preventing the winning Democrat from effectively campaigning against John McCain. This could speed up this never-ending and harmful process considerably.

ENDORSE Superdelgates ENDORSE!!!

Dont let her intimidate you or threaten you with scare tactics. Its only a matter of time before America sees how power mad and power hungry the Clinton's are.

Watch them UNMASK and a certain name that a certain person called one of them may NOT be far from the truth even though said person was released because of it.

It looks like the Clintons have morphed into Bush. They are a global embarrassment AND a national disgrace.

Superdelegates, if you are going to endorse Obama, please do so ASAP. We need this charade to stop, it's hurting everyone including the Clintons. Bill has managed to ruin his legacy in the process of trashing Obama. Well done.

I would be surprised if Hillary will regain her senate seat the next go around for the antics which are counter to everything she stood for in her constituent base in New York and California.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:18 PM on 04/26/2008

If Hillary fails to steal the nomination, she probably will not run again for Senate. The next time her senate seat is going to be contested, she will have primary opponents and a stronger Republican opponent. Everyone has now seen how poor a campaigner she is and will move in for her spot once the seat opens.

Only ten days remain before Indiana and North Carolina, and yet more than twenty percent are undecided in each race.

These numbers do not translate positively for Obama.

In the event he were to lose both of these contests, the viability of his candidacy may be at risk.

Is Rush Limbaugh having an effect? The superdelegates have to consider this. The republicans have nothing to do anymore than try to sabotage our election. This should be considered next time the primary rules are made.

You're right; like a rule that states that once a Republican nominee is apparent; no Republican-to-Democratic converts can vote in a closed DEM primary or no Republican can vote in an open DEM primary.

Here is the reality of what is taking place:

"I don"t think anyone"s shaken," a leading House Democrat told me. The critical mass of Democratic congressmen that has been prepared to endorse Obama when the timing seemed right remains prepared to do so. Their reasons, ones they have held for months, have not changed " and by their very nature are unlikely to.

Essentially, they are three:

(a) Hillary Rodham Clinton is such a polarizing figure that everyone who ever considered voting Republican in November, and even many who never did, will go to the polls to vote against her, thus jeopardizing Democrats down the ticket " i.e., themselves, or, for party leaders, the sizeable majorities they hope to gain in the House and the Senate in November.

I have been saying all along that Hillary, who was the inevitable Democratic nominee, cant even win her own parties nomination. There just is no chance for her to win the general. And now she wouldn't even get the black vote, much less independents.
Nothing personal but there is no way a majority of Americans are going to vote for Senator Clinton.
Even worse, I think John Mccain would beat Hillary Clinton soundly.
Senator Mccain might also beat Obama, but Senator Obama has a better chance.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:48 AM on 04/26/2008

Absolutely, Hillary would Fire-Up the republicans like never before, why do you think they are trying to help her win the nomination. They are trying to knock Obama out now, because they know they can beat Hillary and energized the Party.

I agree. While the Clinton campaign is pasting Obama with their negativity, she may win the battle and lose the war. There is no way she will ever get more than 48% of the vote in a general election and possibly not that much. She will not have a Ross Perot for back up. She will bring out the RWRs in droves. She has turned off blacks and young people and possibly Independents. I know she has driven me away. I just hope they haven't ruined our chances for Obama to win. It doesn't help that MSM is pushing her agenda. Right now she triangulates with the Republicans. Terry McCauliffe is praising FOX for their coverage of her campaign. Are they really that stupid? Do they really think
MSM will back HC in the general election?

On the other hand, the supredelegates are moved by Obama's implosion. Or self-destruction. Or both.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:34 AM on 04/26/2008

Upon further thought, this post is telling. This is exactly the way the Clinton campaign is thinking and this is why she's staying in the race. They're convinced that Senator Obama will implode.

They're not dealing with reality. They had convinced themselves of her inevitability before the campaign and therefore did not plan for a race going beyond Super Tuesday. This is what got them into trouble and what has ultimately led them to the "kitchen sink" strategy. It's also what has them trying to change the rules ex post facto.

They're simply existing outside reality. The chances of an Obama implosion are slim to none. He's weathered adversity well, with little change in his poll numbers.

The way the Clinton campaign has been run and it's divorce from reality should be very disquieting to anyone fed up with eight years of an incompetent, irrational administration.

If these key superdelegates had any courage, they'd come out NOW and end this charade, before the Clinton clan makes it impossible for any democrat to win in November.

I'm nearly sixty. Back in my teens and twenty's, I was moved and motivated and empowered by the higher hopes of Bobby and Martin. After those shared hopes died, literally, my generation turned inward, and 'we' was replaced with 'me.' We abandoned the higher good for the poverty of, at all cost, accumulating possessions, things, mistresses, and, for a few, power and wealth. We threw out selflessness and adopted selfishness.

Forty some years later, along came Obama. The perfect nexus for the 21st century: mixed race, global name, a fresh vision. Hope.

And many, if not most (according to polls I've seen), of my generation are too frightened to embrace him, too lost in ourselves to place our trust in someone who tries to lift us up out of our presumed entitlements, too afraid, still, of someone different, too wary by far of someone actually smart enough to be President.

How far we have fallen from the grace of our youthful optimism! How much do the Clinton's offer us a mirror of what we've become: blatant in our ambitions, seeking to win at all costs even if that means lying, petty in our jealousies, willing to monger other's fears, unable to volunteer (let alone sacrifice) for the common good,

I have been saddened that Obama has sunk to some of the same pettiness, but I will be horribly ashamed if Hillary wins the nomination because of what it says about us.

Not to mention, despondent.

I just wish I knew why it is so many folks in your generation fear Senator Obama? Is it just because he is black. I want them to remember, what a great job your generation did raising us, my parents in their 60's and early 70's raised me! Senator Obama and I are the same age, what a great job you all did, we don't care as much about race or about whether one is gay or straight, and our children care even less, so your generation did the job they were supposed to do, maybe they should be reminded of the great job they did to help eradicate those problems, and it is being passed down from generation to generation. I just want you to know you did a great job with us and all we want now is to show what a great job was done by passing the torch of leadership down, because it always happens it must happen, just trust us, we really can do this.

Well said Teri. Nothing will ever change if we can't have just a little faith and courage to trust. and those of us young ones (50+ here--hehe) are willing to do whatever it takes for that change to occur. I guess I can understand where some older folks are coming from fear.
But nothing has changed over all these years, the system just keeps

marijam, I take these commentaries that site "unnamed sources" with a grain of salt. You and I could write one that is anti-Obama and site unnamed sources...who would know the difference? By the way, most Hillary supporters now use other blogs. Huffpo has become strictly pro-Obama.
Check out Taylor Marsh, Larry Johnson No Quarter, River Daughter The Confluence, Hillaryis44, and HillaryClintonForum.net.

You really seem bitter. Maybe you are the one who should take a little break from blogging. I was simply stating facts...most Hillary supporters blog elsewhere...probably because of people like you.
