Jon Stewart turned his attention from the Democratic primary to analyze George Stephanopoulos' interview of John McCain. Stewart hits McCain -- and the media generally -- for the huge discrepancy between questions asked to Obama a week ago and questions asked to McCain this weekend.

The whole thing is worth a watch. If you weren't impressed by Stephanopoulos after his debate performance last week, this probably isn't going to bring you closer to him:

Jon Stewart needs to shut his trap! McCain has made an effort. He is the only candidate to visit New Orleans, let alone talk about it. He visited Selma Alabama. Kudos. How is that the government forgets national disasters so quickly? Its the politics of disaster. Mainstream media distorts the truth and it has caused civilization to collapse. False Media. People need to start turning down the volume on these idiots and open their eyes to the facts. Millions of Americans are without health care...yet all we can talk about is Rev. Wright? Or how Jon Stewart chopped and screwed up his own version of McCain's interview with George. Let's be for real. Talk about some real issues. Health care? Poverty? Diminished Middle Class? $3.73 a gallon for gas? Jobs?

"McCain is the only candidate to visit New Orleans ..."

Perhaps the only GOP candidate, but not the only candidate.

Unfortunately, his visit is compromised by his embrace of an endorsement from a pastor who claims Hurricane Katrina was punishment from God. Apparently Pastor Hagee thinks that God damned America at that moment.

He has also embraced the endorsement of a clergyman who would like the US to help provoke and apocalypse in the Middle East in order to speed up the second coming of Christ (by his interpretation of scripture).

"Millions of Americans are without health care...yet all we can talk about is Rev. Wright?"

I couldn't agree more!

Oh no, Jon Stewart needs to continue as he is, funny. It is sad that a satire program provides some of the best coverage and assessment of all the candidates. The other media, often event the blogging media, are just shadows of what news programs should be.

Don't take Jon away form me. Please.

That's part of Stewart's point. You're absolutely right that the media won't talk about the real issues. But it's also true that when they focus on the trivial crap, it's almost always to the detriment of the Democratic candidates, and even among Republicans McCain gets special treatment. He did go to Selma.. and talked to a bunch of white, middle class Republicans. Nothing wrong with that as long as he didn't exclude anyone (and I'm not suggesting that he did). But look how it was covered! McCain reaches out to Blacks-- not true. McCain doesn't get asked about his lack of a lapel pin. he gets one question, not 200, about Hagee. He doesn't get labeled a flip-flopper over Bush's tax cuts.

I hate to break it to you, but Obama and Clinton both have gone to New Orleans. Hey! John Edwards was there too.

Another problem is Jon Stewart is doing a comedy program not a news program.

did you see his audience at Selma? How many african-americans? almost zero. Only angry white men were present.

New Orleans? What did he do to help New Orleans? He eat cake with Bush.

Health care? Kids in the audience will not be covered by his plan.

Tax cut? In favor or against, who knows. He will change his opinion tomorrow to get elected.

Rev. Wright? What about Parsley and Hagee? Want to hear hate speech, listen to those boys.

Just hilarious! My favorite line is when McCain says the key is to "eliminate American casualties" in Iraq and Stewart just brilliantly points out how we can do that. I don't always get that big of a kick out of Jon Stewart, but this segment had me laughing out loud. Pitch-perfect great stuff.

Again Jon Stewart proves that he always has been,is now and will always be a little beotch.

It's about time somebody turned the table on McCain. He's getting a free ride. I guess he's not good TV.

Adorable yes... but inside there's a touch of Chucky.

Methinks Jon Stewart likens himself as a big time media pundit. If so, he should move from Comedy Central to the MSM. He is funny, no doubt, but as a media pundit, he's a lightweight who knows little of what he speaks! Wait a minute, that's the definition of a pundit! Jon, welcome to NBC/MSNBC/CNN/FOX. You are now a pundit emeritus! A sort of Olberman midget if you may!
Off to the Colbert Report...the REAL funnyman of Comedy Central!

I had no idea talking in a whiny voice every once in awhile and throwing in the word "douche" was considered funny. He hasn't thought about why two of his former underlings have surpassed him?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:48 PM on 04/27/2008

Awcbuddy, do you hate the fact that he skewers Bush daily so much that you attempt to throw any mud on Stewart? Is your conservative agenda and philosophical beliefs so thin that you must be resentful toward a comedian. If you do not get Stewart's irony and satire, then you are really, really missing something. It takes a sense of irony in order to have an open mind to begin with.

I don't have a problem with the show, all of his correspondents are pretty funny, it's just that...John Stewart really isn't. That's kind of the problem.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:10 PM on 04/27/2008

I think he's a hilarious and a lot of people agree. His satire is spot on. Republicans don't like him because he shows them for the butt heads they really are.

Jon can rag on the media all he wants, but that has exactly what effect on the campaign? McCain will be gently treated by the MSM and people will fall for it since it isn't nice to be mean to an old man.

The media is the campaign you idiot.

In reference to George Stephanopoulus...Did you happen to catch his Sunday morning TV program today/4.27? Being from the Hillary camp and a staunch supporter of hers during the Monica Lewinsky era when he vworked in the White House, all of his questions to his panel of guests were targeted towards Obama. Talk about being biased. Am so fed up with all the TV pundits, they are so fickle and will get their word out which ever way the tide turns that day. They will be tuned out from now on in my estimation. Don't believe a word they say. It is so disgusting for America.

You'll never hear about it. I'm sure they have "been in touch" with anyone who has any real information. I still cannot understand how, after being supposedly tortured, he still thinks it's both effective and moral. I'm just asking!

HE SERVED IN THE CORPS BUT HERO, LOL!!

McCain was a navy pilot. And I agree, he's no hero. He saved no one. He couldn't even save himself, some Vietnamese woman dove in the river and pulled his sorry ass out of it.

Mccain is going to be at the National Convention high off of geritol and viagra..

When he falls of the stage with his walker, i am going to fall the F out!!

Mccain has way to many Senior moments to become POTUS..

He's been a puppet way to many years in the house.

Mccain never once voted on a bill that the guy next to him didn't vote for..

Mccain says, who or what are they voting on? Ok count me to whatever it is???

He has no idea what he stands for unless it's men dying in a WAR!!

I don't know why, but people seem to love McCain in this county. The media treats him like some kind of saint. We would see his poll numbers going south if he got even half as much scrutiny about his past and record as Obama.

What I'd like to see is the media going after Pastor John Hagee who has endorsed McCain, the both of them were shown hugging each other. Hagee called the Catholic a church of demons and whores, also said "God was responsible for Katrina, said it was because of the gay community on Bourbon Street and their lifestyle, or something to that effect, may not be the exact wording. Funny how the "churches" were destroyed during Katrina and Bourbon Street was not. Hmmm...

Hagee's sermons ought to be aired on t.v. and not only Rev. Wright's, and who was it said the media is "liberal". Not so.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:26 PM on 04/27/2008

But Hagee isn't BLACK! Oh the horrors! An African-American who speaks his mind! He was great at the National Press Club today, by the way. Did not know he was a Marine. Of course, the MSM never mentioned that...
