Mr. Karzai is trying to use reason to influence American foreign policy. Since he is not dealing with reasonable people, he has no chance to succeed. Instead, he will be ignored, or replaced if his criticisms become too inconvenient and truthful.

Please read again what he has said, that the U.S. and its allies should be pursueing Al Qaeda, not the Taliban. This is a position that both Democrats and Republicans will not listen to at this time.

Why is it, that the U.S. is incapable of using reason and logic in its foreign policy and in its military adventures, unless faced with obviously strong opposition, or until the costs of an incorrect policy have become painful.

The reasons that we should not be chasing the Taliban without Afghan government approval are the same reasons that we should be listening to the Iraqi government when they ask us to get our troops out of that country. The overriding reason is that the third world country involved does not want us to conduct military operations against their citizens within their borders. The other very important reason is that there is no American self-interest served by our actions. We could have pursued Al Qaeda (which is not the Taliban) without occupying either country. Trying to decide for them how they should live their lives is unacceptable to them, as it would be to us if someone invaded our country and tried to dictate to us within our own borders.

If Karzai wants face-time on American TV, he'll have to produce a sex scandal.

"Complaints have been rising for months among diplomats and visiting foreign officials about what is seen as Mr. Karzai"s weak leadership, in particular his inability to curb narcotics trafficking" In another interview Mr. Karzai said: "I am shocked! Shocked, to find out that there is narcotics trafficking going on in Afghanistan" while one of his aides muttered "here is your cut sir"

Brother Karzai apparently misunderstands the fundamental nature of the democracy we "gave" to Afghanistan.

Locals don't have the right to vote.

This is a show for the locals.

Karzai, like Maliki of Iraq, worked for Unical, and they are stoogies for bush, and they know they have nowhere to go.

As long as the Queen profits from the poppy fields, nothing will change. Its a farce, charade, the whole pretending any third world country has autonomy and self-determination. Bloody criminals run the world. Not a whole lot we can do about it, but it is irritating when the press lies and people construct stories as though things were different than they really are. How hard it must be to keep us the facade. May they reap what they sew.

The Bushistas only believe in local control when the can control the locals.

Mr. Karzi, you are just a puppet. A tool in the new Great Game.

That is what Imperialists do. Make puppets so they can control the politics and economics of countries.

Democracy? That is a joke. Cheney has no more respect for democracy than he does for the locals.

Which is entirely too bad. The people of Afghanistan deserve much better from the world. They deserve peace and prosperity. All they seem to get is more war and bloodshed.

Dear Mr. Karzi, You really should do some reading of what this administration has done to its own people, then you'll come to realize that your country is being used, by some very greedy and despicable men and women, and you'll be left holding the bag!

The U.S. needs to blame someone for the failure of its policies. The Taliban cross over to Pakistan where they are welcomed. The military in Pakistan should not be supported. They stay in power by fighting with India. Pakistan has always had an interest in destabilizing Afghanistan. The use of reservations and predators is the final solution. The U.S. will never get along with the Pashtuns now that we have killed so many. Opium production is flourishing and many of our soldiers are coming back addicted. More heroin is on the streets in Europe and the U.S. than ever before. The war on terror, like the war on drugs has decreased neither problem.
