Militants bombarded Baghdad's Green Zone with rockets on Sunday, taking advantage of the cover of a blinding dust storm to launch one of the heaviest strikes in weeks on the fortified compound.

The strikes appeared to defy a renewed call for a ceasefire issued on Friday by Shi'ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr, which has seen many of his masked gunmen leave the streets of the Sadr City slum where they hold sway in eastern Baghdad.

The whole Green Zone concept is an example of no real world experience.

The whole Iraq fiasco has been damaged by corruption and incompetence

but the worst of it has been that it was all done intentionally so the neocons

could continue to profiteer, privatize and perpetuate their evil war of greed.

The only thing that could be even more criminal would be to BOMB IRAN!

This is not good news, regardless of political stripe. The neo-con reaction will predictably be to try and shift any blame for the Iraq fiasco to Iran. As far as the neo-cons are concerned, al-Sadr is the problem, not the illegal invasion and certainly not the their disasterous mismanagement of it.

Neo-cons, short on personal responsibility, long on blame!

The neocons should just tune in to their fascist propaganda puppets at Fox News, who refuse to report the Green Zone attacks at all.

Problem is you ger rid of al-Sadr, there will be an al-Setr , an al-Sitr or an al-Sotr to take his place; its a RELIGIOUS thing with them. The worst kind of guerrilla warfare there is; these geniouses running this thing can't bring themselves to accept this.
Heaven help us if Mc Bush were to win in November.

Darth has been promising in separate meetings, both the Likudists

& the Saudi Royals, that we would destroy Iran's energy capabilities

diminishing Iran's role in the Middle East and the world's oil market.

This is why he fired Adm. Fallon and if you don't think that Darth can

fire the head of CentCom or any other general, you don't know Dick!

Thats the problem Dick Cheney and Conoleeza Rice. Once you set war motion, it is extremely difficult to contain things.

Cheney went over to Iraq and told Maliki to go after al Sadr. And he promptly did his masters bidding. And got his ass handed to him

Rice goes over there to repeat Cheney's instructions and while she is there gratuitously insults al Sadr and his followers.

They respond with attacks that may or may not be under the control of al Sadr.

Oh, did I forget to mention to propaganda campaign to incite another useless war against Iran?

Pure genius. And when it all spins out of the control of any and everybody?

Blame it on Bill Clinton.

Don't forget the 10 dead and app. 40 wounded that U.S. helicopter Hellfire missles caused immediately before the Green Zone bombardment.

It is misleading to report the minor violence against the Greeen Zone as though it were
without cause, and was the work of a few unruly Sadrists.
CNN
"When we threatened to declare an open war until the liberation, we meant war against
the occupier," al-Sadr said in his letter. "There is no war between us and our Iraqi
brothers -- no matter what their nationality, race or sect. The blood of Iraqis are forbidden
on you."
On Saturday, al-Sadr issued what he called a "last warning" and told his followers in Sadr
City to fight the "occupier" there.
Al-Sadr said he would not accept the long-term agreement which the U.S. and Iraqi
governments are crafting to replace the current U.N. mandate for multi-national forces in
Iraq. The U.N. mandate expires in December.
"There should be no long-term security agreement between the government and occupier,
no matter how hard they fight us and no matter how much of our blood is spilled," he
said. "We will not accept to divide Iraq and to steal its wealth."
Al-Sadr's message came after at least 11 people were killed and 36 others were wounded
in overnight battles in northern Baghdad's Sadr City
The U.S. military launched overnight airstrikes on Sadr City, the official said. [note-Sadr City is densely populated -3 million]

Hey Moqtada, Limbaugh lives in Florida. At least half the U.S. would applaud a targeted strike on this asshole.

While I am not a neocon, I will venture an answer.

The mission is continuous war.

It is being accomplished.

If we elect McCrazy, it will last 100 years.

"And my friends there will be more wars." to quote the distinguished senator from Arizon.
