All politicians talk about jobs, but these days Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton does it with tactile, almost sensuous detail. She began a rally here on Saturday morning with memories of her father's fabric-printing business, feeling aloud the cloth, the silk screen and the squeegee he used to create patterns that would decorate strangers' drapes.

"I'm trying to paint a word picture, and when I think about helping my dad at his print plant it's very physical, the memories," she recalled in an interview after the crowds had dispersed.

Mrs. Clinton has spent her whole life climbing the ladders of education, wealth and power. Now, as part of her effort to hold off Senator Barack Obama and claim the Democratic presidential nomination, she is climbing back down them, sounding less like a Wellesley alumna than Roseanne Barr's old sitcom character, the den mother of her factory floor.

Mrs. Clinton's campaign has hung on in part by asserting that Mr. Obama cannot win the crucial category of white working-class Democrats. Those men and women won her the Ohio primary, they won her Pennsylvania, and for the logic of her campaign to hold, they must again side with her in Indiana, where polls suggest the race could be tight.

So every speech she gave in Indiana on Friday and Saturday had the same topic sentence. "My campaign is about jobs, jobs, jobs and jobs," she said, always to thunderous applause.

Another picture? Lord. Here she goes again with her 'memories' of 'events' that 'never happened'.

Hillary lives in a fantasy world. Its a coping mechanism. Like her 'I didn't know I was giving a mad man authorization to go to war'. She was trying to 'paint a word picture' there to.

Real question is...why do voters buy into her 'word pictures' ? These ridiculous stories have nothing to do with Hillary or her life or the voter and their life or our country. Nothing.

One minute she is out hunting bear, then she is knitting a sweater, then she is dodging sniper fire, then she is a victim of child labor, then she is a Ivy League feminist, working for Goldwater and defending Nixon, then the feminist marries a womanizer, then she is baking cookies and not baking cookies, for NAFTA not for NAFTA, against war and then she is obliterating nations full of children.

Hillary at one time wanted to take care of children, 'Takes a Village' remember that 'word picture' and now she wants to 'Obliterate the Village'...a much different word picture.

I would like to know once and for all what Hillary wants to do with the 'Village'.

Who is this person?

Hillary is the salt of the earth. While elitist Barak Obama was trying to pretend to care about poor people by being a community organizer in the streets of Chicago, Hillary was making a real difference by sitting on the board of Wal-Mart.

""I'm trying to paint a word picture, and when I think about helping my dad at his print plant it's very physical, the memories. You know, I still have the scars on my lungs from those paint fumes. And after a hard day of inhaling toxice vapors, I'd head out back of our little cabin by the lake and russle us up some grub. Shoot a few squirrels, catch a few trout, dig some wild onions by the outhouse. It was a meager existence, but by golly it gave me the gumption to be where I am today."

Once again, Hillary tries to morph into something and someone she isn't. Let's hope the good people of Indiana and North Carolina see through her and put an end to this charade once and for all.

=====

Her job speeches are worthless. What a loser.

http://tiny.cc/7XgoN

...amid questions about her own success in helping economically troubled rural areas in her home state of New York....they forced the New York senator to explain her failure to deliver the couple of hundred thousand jobs she promised upstate New York when she first ran for the state's U.S. Senate seat in 2000.

Clinton said Tuesday that when she made such a promise, she expected former Vice President Al Gore to be elected president and to continue most of the economic policies of her husband's administration.

=====

She is incredibly irresponsible. She didn't campaign for him, but it was Al Gore's fault that she didn't deliver on those promised jobs?

Indianans, don't fall for her bullshit. She is a vile politician, and not all politicians are.

If Hillary's dad knew that one day his daughter would be wearing Big Girl pantsuits, he would have skipped the Wellesley education and sent Hillary straight to Fat Camp.

William Kristol, the water carrier for the GOP who also has a column in the NYT (for some unknown reason) says in today's column: "Since we conservatives believe in giving credit where credit is due, it falls to us to praise Hillary Clinton."

First, to be completely accurate he should have added "when it suits our purposes" to the phrase "we conservatives believe in giving credit where credit is due".

Second, you know the republicans see a Hillary nomination as the best chance to put McCain in the WH when they praise Hillary, a person they never said a positive (forget kind) word about ever until recently.

And last, Hillary has never been anywhere near a blue collar worker except on the campaign trail when she needed votes or a photo op. Her father was upper middle class business owner and she personally has never held a non-professional position at any time in her life. Her obsequious pandering to blue collar workers is offensive. Especially when it has taken her 60 years to finally even recognize blue collar workers and the effect on them that NAFTA, which she originally supported, had. And the media buys into her BS without a question.

Actually she shucked scales off Salmon in Alaska one summer.

I disagree with you about Republicans thinking Hillary would be the easiest to defeat.

Politicians have to pander, reach out, connect with, or whatever you decide to call it, period. I dont' know anyone who can be everything to everyone an anytime, nor do I expect it.

If you met Hillary's Brother's, Hugh and Tony, I think you'll see her very blue collar roots.

Hillary has been an advocate for working women, children of working families, and has always and continuously fought for Universal Health Care. She wants the government to take a pro-active role in promoting GREEN COLLAR JOBS and the training of our established but quickly shrinking manufacturing sector, to provide the skilled labor that will drive our country to become less and less dependent on non-renewables like oil and coal for all our power.

She did not vote for nor write NAFTA, though she was bound by ther duty as First Lady to give a few stump speeches at the behest of the president. She privately disagreed with and actively discouraged as much as she was able, her husband's role in NAFTA.

Hillary believes in a systematic approach to solving the problems we face today. This involves republicans and democrats, industry leaders and labor unions, environmentalists and conservationists, Economists and Sociologists, scientists and religious leaders. When we work together for a common goal, we are united.

Her and her stupid memories (delusions), her father either had manual labor workers or automatic presses and the paint fumes are strong and the thinners are worse to where Osha has to make sure they are all under regulation. I doubt very seriously he let his "little" girl hang out in the "plant" not "shop= bluecollar for very long. I really hope people start using their God given brains for once in their lives instead of listening to night time stories.

The saddest part of this whole circus is the damage she is doing to future woman candidates. Her campaign, with the flip-flopping, the innuendos and snide parsing of remarks have left me with a feeling of sadness. I would have voted for a woman in a heartbeat, but after all this craziness, and a lot of reading, not this woman.

Women: passive aggressive and snide, always insinuating something
Women: they just plain crazy
Women: throwing the china all the time when they get upset or angry
Women: crying and emotional all the time
Women: having tea party's with the wives of world leaders ain't foreign policy experience
Women: wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for her husband
Women: is only with him for poltical and financial reasons
Women: her shrill voice is enough to drive me crazy! shut up shrillery!
Women: her claws are out to attack again
Women: she's frigid, no wonder Bill cheated on her
Women: her conniving ways in 93' is why she failed to get health care through
Women: I'd vote for them, JUST NOT THIS ONE.

Okay, let's be reasonable. Either of these candidates are capable of beating that thing running for the repugnicans. There's nothing wrong with a race. The first one to cross the finish line will have my whole hearted support, however, hillary's repugnicant tactics are reprehensible and illicit the unreasonable and immature sort of comment I expressed earlier. I mean it pisses me off. A lot like dajay does.

I wonder if the cloth feeling was before or after shooting the duck in Bosnia while protesting the war she caused. I wonder if the folks still backing her have been completely asleep during not only the campaign, but the many years of ridiculous things this woman has done. She is a bad leader. She can't keep the books. She lies all the time. Her own folks are promoting what she says she is against. She has locked arms with the person she labeled head of a vast right-wing conspiracy.

Why does one person give her any creedence at all? She is a poor excuse for a public servant, and not a very good person either. After all, she is a liar. Would anyone care to run the list of lies this woman has told in just the last 6 months? Pathetic.

And now, she panders - will say and do anything, no matter how she lies or who she hurts.
