It will be available as a free download from the Web site for one week, a statement said.

The Web site will also give preliminary details about free shows at London's Brixton Academy on June 16 and at New York's Madison Square Garden on June 23.

I once slipped into a coma when listening to Coldplay. You might wanna give credit where credit is due HuffPo....Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails is the one breaking the mold, not Coldplay or Radiohead(as much as I like them). Google it if you don't know.

Sad little posters, y'all are. Wimps and pussies and snobtards, the lot of ya.

No wonder Coldplay is so great. They push out the likes of you.

apparently they've run out of people to plagiarize, i.e., kraftwerk, and martin went to a hypnotist to help break his "writer's" block ...

i am hopeful this abomination, an easy-listening marketing triumph known as coldplay, has had the full run of its fifteen minutes.

if they are giving away a song, it must suck (worse than the rest)

isn't this the same model people have been using for years. you know releasing a single to the radio weeks before an album. Coldplay are so radical

They can make the whole album free and I still wouldn't download it.

In other words, not a big Coldplay fan.

I'm off to listen to the following...

Bach's Cantanta for the 27th Sunday after Trinity
Ry Cooder's Chicken Skin Music
Frank Zappa's Waka/Jawaka
Bobby Sherman's 1st album
The Mars Volta's Amputechture

wow. one song! these guys have balls! and for a whole week? they are really on the edge there!!

David: You know how I know you're gay?
Cal: How?
David: You like Coldplay.

how about selling the album online and asking for donations like shareware? or sell it online with no DRM? or give it away and see if something good happens? put it on iTunes for free--let Apple underwrite it as good for their business. something?!?! come on! make a statement!

pussies!

Why are my comments scrubbed and then put back? Love HuffPo, but this is hands down the WORST comments section in all of the left blogosphere.

If by ripping off you mean releasing a low bitrate quality download of a song that they eventually released through normal channels, making it nothing more than a publicity stunt...cuz that's what Radiohead did.

are you trying to say that the free download is of extremely low bitrate quality and that the song will eventually be sold through the normal channels, making this nothing more than publicity stunt? Cuz that's what Radiohead did.
